  1. The saddest part is he's right. It doesn't matter what he says or does, they won't convict.
  2. The GOP are doing what they always do with extremists - they are taking Marjorie Taylor Greene's money and harnessing her following, while going to the media to pretend they are concerned. And the media, which always needs to believe the best of them, nods along. Speaking of that, I still keep wondering if Manchin and Sinema will force some kind of bare bones "bipartisan" package and refuse to do anything else. I know a lot of people hate AOC, feel she is overdramatic, attention-seeking, etc. but I'm glad she shut down Ted Cruz's naked attempt to pivot to, "Look, everyone can agree, so forget the riot Ted Cruz helped foment ever happened!" Ted Cruz thrives on being a partisan, and no amount of phony "can't we all just get along" posturing should ever erase the damage he has done over the last decade. If he weren't so embarrassingly and obviously self-loathing and eager for approval, I can't imagine how much worse his effects would have been on this country.
  3. Today the Washington Post has a gushing profile on Mitt Romney's unfortunate (in every single way) former niece. The Beltway will do anything to make us love these monsters.
  4. An NYT "reporter" taking a break from whining about school renamings to promote lies from a white nationalist account.
  5. How do they not just sink in their own bile and dysfunction? Over and over the worst is rewarded.
  6. Cicely was such a legend...I feel like she was somewhat forgotten for a number of years. I'm glad she was with us long enough for her to get more of the showcases she deserved. I really need to go back and watch East Side/West Side.
  7. I don't know if it ever got close to cancelation but they were clearly in a panic mode at ABC, with expensive hires, phasing out the social issues and some longtime characters, etc. That's why I don't really blame the Buchanans for the end of this more "pure" OLTL - I feel like it had already been deemed as a no-go by ABC before they arrived.
  8. Thank you @slick jones and thank you to @jam6242for providing them. I really should listen to this more - what is available, anyway.
  9. I just don't really know whether to go near anything involving Asia at this point. When I saw some of the posts from Hammer's other Instagram they were genuinely frightening. He needs a lot of help, at the very least.
  10. Unless there is a preemption, next week's Vintage SNL (Saturday, 10 PM Eastern) will be Harvey Keitel/Madonna from early 1993. They usually only show one musical performance but it may end up being higher quality than most of the footage around. Madonna is also in the cold open for that episode, which was controversial at the time (Hillary Clinton supposedly wrote a letter to NBC because the sketch involved someone playing her daughter, Chelsea).
  11. Thank you @rsclassicfanforever . That is a wonderful service for fans. And such high quality.
  12. What a busy time for "the paper of record!"
  13. Thanks for posting that video. There is so much scattered late '70s OLTL but yet never quite enough. I have misplaced my scans several times now. I half-forget most of what I even used to post on here. If I ever find them again and find any stuff from around the time of these three 'new' episodes I will share it.
  14. I couldn't tell if they were trying to show her husband's inner thoughts but the shots didn't line up, or if a crew member was very angry. Either way I laughed.
  15. Yes, her casually saying she had been in an orgy, then the slow burn of her stunned, embarrassed, teeth-clenching husband. The nosy other woman who is straight out of a porn script. And I could swear I kept hearing someone say "bitch" in the background...
  16. I could see him going on Dancing With the Stars if it weren't for him seemingly taking his views very seriously about not being around other women. He should have had better exit plans post-Trump. He clearly thought he could glom on for 4-8 years and be set up, but Trump never gave a damn about him (and wouldn't have even if Pence had gone even further in trying to steal the election), and now Trump's brain-dead cult will also ensure he has no real future post-VP. Such a craven slug.
  17. Weird seeing Vanessa play games with Frank (to make Billy jealous), only to immediately stop when Ross walked in - a reminder of their complex history. I guess this was right before Vanessa was put into more of a matriarchal role which put her above the old schemes. Seeing how wary both she and Maureen were of Holly also interested me. They really did set Holly up in the outsider role for those first years of her comeback. (I can't remember if Holly and Vanessa ever interacted in 1980) I love how nuanced the relationships between characters were in the late '80s and early '90s. GL was one of the most honest and intelligent soaps in this period.
  18. Marland also chose to emphasize seedier aspects of James that didn't seem to be there before him (and weren't after, I believe), like his preying on underage girls. There's a steady journey of sickness and depravity James takes from 1986 to 1989, followed by Marland going out of his way to make it clear to viewers that James really was dead (his corpse shown on the floor for an extended period, an autopsy being done, etc.).
  19. Turns out an uploader that has put up promos and other content put up a short clip of Loving Friends a few years ago. They said in the comments they had one episode but will not be uploading it.
  20. I think you're right. I get the feeling they lowballed her as well as Doris Belack.
