Doctor Who
That last one reminds me of why I generally avoid this show's fandom... I have not been able to get into the show in recent years. Jodie didn't click for me, sadly, although ultimately that is down to Chibnall, who has consistently failed at the show, from writer to showrunner.

Awkward Returns
This has already been discussed in the Ryan's Hope thread recently, but, much as I love Ilene Kristen, something feels very sad and very off about her 1982-1983 return as Delia - what is available, anyway. Even if I didn't know the backstage pressures against her for her weight, what was onscreen feels so tired. Alice Barrett's 1999 return to AW. This was impacted by the show's cancelation, no doubt, but I can't imagine Frankie fans being very impressed by that convoluted story.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
That second hairdo fit the little girl lost theme better, but the first is very stylish.

I remember reading that Patsy Rahn's Monica was very out of control (didn't she even try to kill Rick when he was in a coma?). I wonder if this was an attempt to clean her up for viewers before the quad kicked into gear. Thank you @victoria foxton. Love that gif of Tracy. I wasn't sure if this one was around or not, it's so hard to remember what used to be on Youtube, but it was new to me so I am happy if it was for others too. Hopefully that channel may put up some more content. The quality really impressed me - many GH episodes from this period are very degraded. Sorry, I forgot to tag @jam6242 and @vetsoapfan in case they haven't seen this one either.

Sad to hear this...Tanya was never much of an actress but she had a rough-edged charm that made me like her, especially when she had to help wind down Charlie's Angels.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I would tend to agree, it's just when we get to the point where the character keeps sleeping with so many beautiful, sexy women, nothing against Peter Boynton, who was fine in other moments, but I don't think he had the charisma to pull that off.- The Politics Thread
Nancy Pelosi was re-elected Speaker today, with EVERY member of the Squad voting for her. This after they were harassed for months by griftergressives and fauxgressives like Jimmy Dore with encouragement from their enablers like Kyle Kulinski, Katie Halper, Brie Joy, etc. As always, the dead end left has no plan beyond alienating and losing - they prefer it that way because it keeps the money rolling in and means they don't have to actually do anything. And the suckers who keep them going will continue to do so.- GH: Classic Thread
Can anyone tell me if that's Virginia Vestoff in the Sure ad with Peter White at about 18 minutes? There's also a Brynn Thayer ad. Beyond the early glimpse of Tracy, my favorite part is the scene with Bobbie and Jessie. Rather than what we got later on with Carly, where Amy was just there to feud with her and spit bile, we have Jessie genuinely trying to help Bobbie, but being frustrated by just hos shallow and misguided she is. Great moment. It's also good to see more of Mary O'Brien's Heather - something so fascinating about this very, very on the edge woman hiding behind a placid demeanor. (I had forgotten Peter Taylor was still alive at this time) Oof...that Jackie and Darlene promo at the very end felt like something from Kentucky Fried Movie.- The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. There's some early Tracy footage in this I had never seen before. (I didn't even remember this hairstyle) General Hospital (1978, partial episode) - YouTube- GH: Classic Thread

I think they know most people won't care about the hacking, sadly. The mini-insurrection mostly feels like a naked gambit for 2024 to me, especially from Josh Hawley, who is a darling of fauxgressives on social media.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Probably someone like James Horan, who was able to play a complicated, brooding lothario/quasi-heel on Loving several years later.- Neighbours: Discussion Thread
I'd never seen this before - it's a primer for Neighbours for new viewers, with Anne Charleston (who sounds like she is fighting bronchitis!) popping into studio to give the story and character outline. Nola's 1995 return to GL. I suppose Peter Simon's apparent refusal to be paired with her may not have helped, but this whole return was just poorly put together in every way, from angering the character's fans by having Quint as a cheater, to making her a mix of harridan and dumb comic relief. It didn't help that Lisa Brown's personal problems and the decade she spent playing the perpetually depressed, broken Iva meant that she could not play the character of Nola in the way many would have wanted. Not even getting into the Buzz story, or the depressing fantasies, including the one where she gunned down Quint. Michael Tylo also did not have the same spark, although his return was beyond thankless. Just as Quint and Nola seemed to have a bit of their spark back, Tylo was abruptly fired, without even getting a goodbye scene. I know Lisa wasn't thrilled with the way that the show was being produced by the time of her 2009 return, but Nola at least felt more like her old self in those brief appearances.- Fantastic Returns
I don't know if I would use the word "fantastic," but Vanessa's returns to GL in its last decade were a huge improvement over the dishrag of the mid/late '90s who existed solely for "Matessa" or to put up with endless Dinah meltdowns. Maeve Kinkead seemed to have a lot of her distinctiveness back, and had much more flattering hairstyles. It was also nice to see some glimpses of her again as a businesswoman and intelligent woman. And, yes, I was thrilled they ended her relationship with Matt and she reconciled with Billy.- GH: Classic Thread

Emily Symons interview (starts about 14 minutes in) as she tours Paris. I never knew she hosted a talk show between H&A and Emmerdale. Looks like a proto-Loose Women. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLobvfDxWmE- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

GL March 1988: Alex and Alan as Kids - YouTube I'm glad they had this while Chris Bernau was still playing Alan. The moment where Alan asks Alex if she has forgotten their bond as children, and she says she chooses not to remember, is very poignant. Bernau's narration over the flashbacks was not needed and makes me wonder why they even had them in the first place. I didn't realize Vera was already around by this point. I guess the flashback of her was the closest GL would get to having a black character at this point.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I have to admit I have no real idea what parts of Barbara's time as a vixen that Colleen has complained about. I was just speaking generally about the character rather than her feelings.- Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
