  1. I don't have any interest in these toothless commissions either, but I think this stands out as a notable moment for just how brazen the GOP is, and how they know they will get away with it.
  2. McCarthy stabbed John Katko, another so-called "thoughtful" Republican who worked closely with Democrats for the commission to happen, in the back. Watch Katko just shrug it off the way all the GOP enablers do. The Republicans, with the media going along every step, are doing their best to memory hole 1/6 and knowing their voter suppression and gerrymandering tools are enough to get away with it.
  3. I hope something is done, but what I described essentially is the law in states like Georgia now, and Joe Manchin's solution was to co-write a letter. I feel like time is slipping away.
  4. This is one of the reasons the right, and the media, have been moving the activist base away from abortion and more towards topics like saying all liberals eat babies and are human traffickers. The base of their party - the main people who will be able to vote from now on thanks to these voter suppression laws (and the only ones with votes who will count thanks to the laws allowing Republicans to just throw out what they don't like) will support abortion being made illegal, and the money men will keep writing checks because they are still getting what they really want. Selfish media whore Manchin putting out his meaningless letter on the same day real, severe consequences of his "I've got mine, screw you" attitude reveal themselves unintentionally underscores just how much damage this type of politician does to the future of this country.
  5. Sorry if this has already been posted, but it's an interview with Kane Manera (the notoriously awful Grady on GL, so awful that he was turfed off a cliff by Philip and no one gave a damn), who is now a real estate agent. In another example of lazy journalism, it seems whoever did this just went to Kane's IMDB page and assumed he was on GL for three years, rather than noticing the 2006 credit was for a shorter-term role. https://www.inman.com/2021/02/01/corcoran-agent-kane-manera-found-his-guiding-light-in-real-estate/
  6. Claudia and Enrique also came in at the time there were strong rumors B&B was going to expand to an hour. When that didn't happen, they likely got the chop.
  7. Not to be mean, because I know all these Youtubers do this, but why do you need to have your big-ass face on the video you are promoting like this?
  8. WandaVision cleaned up at the MTV Movie Awards. Host Leslie Jones opened the show up with a WandaVision gag, featuring a few cast members:
  9. The above is just another example of what happens when we have no regulation against mergers.
  10. That must have sucked for fans of the couple (not to mention being in poor taste given Staab's accident being the reason why he could never return to the role). A sad irony that Andy herself went under the bus when Antonio returned. This is the type of writing that alienated so many fans, one after another.
  11. Is this the story where John slept with Dee and he was sure she thought it was him while she thought he was Brad? Anything I see of that character group in the early '80s is both offputting and dull.
  12. I've grown to respect Don over the years as I feel like the crises of the last decade have led him to reflect, instead of just shutting his eyes and pocketing the cash the way some in the media do. Whatever happens I hope it's a good thing for him.
  13. Don Lemon scared some viewers tonight into thinking he was leaving CNN. Apparently someone is leaving CNN before June though, if Twitter rumors are accurate.
  14. Thanks. I hope she can return someday.
  15. I was going to say Emma Samms, but I don't even know if she's in the US anymore, and I read she had a big battle with COVID.
  16. Oh you're right, she wasn't the head of nursing - she did work there but someone else said that to Nella. I was sure they slept together but it's been almost a decade since I watched some of those episodes so I probably invented that in my head.
  17. If you want to see Nella's exit, try to watch the episodes from spring or summer 1989. I don't know if it was Marland's choice, or if new producer Laurie Caso wanted to clean house, but that whole Pam/Nella/Beau group was written out after Meg's departure and with Paul/Andy/Lien/new arrival Duke taking up airtime. By Marland standards the writing for their exits is both aimless and downbeat - actually it's sort of a glimpse of what is coming with Marland's increasingly aimless writing. Beau and Pam drift apart, and Beau has sex with Nella, who has a thing for him. Pam leaves in summer to return to Seattle - oddly, just as her con artist father arrives in Oakdale. Nella claims to still want to be a nurse, but misses a lot of shifts, to the point where I think her own mother (who was head of nursing by this point) basically tells her she clearly does not want to be a nurse and is just lying to herself. Nella decides to move to California with Beau. I tend to wonder if someone at P&G got cold feet about the interracial aspect (I think this was the first black/white interracial relationship on ATWT) because when they leave we're told they are just friends and not interested in making their relationship romantic.
  18. I know some fans didn't care for the first Andy, but I liked her more than Wendee Pratt, even if she and her stories were generic. Beyond the Hunter relationship I think she spent most of her time pining after the hunky priest who was pining after Gabrielle.
  19. Thanks for finding all these. If something is happening I hope it starts soon while various people are still with us, but far be it from me to set David Lynch's timetable. I'm glad Ray is still doing OK.
  20. Oh wow. I'd never even heard of that.
  21. I don't really know how popular she ever was. Antonio/Andy had a following, but most of the focus went to Kamar, both in the writing and among fans. I remember the soap magazines being happy enough to admit that she was basically an idiot, and panning the writing for her (at one point she literally clings to Antonio's legs as he walks out on her, IIRC).
