For me: James Horan > Dennis Parlato > Randolph Mantooth > Larkin Malloy. The first three are very good (Horan is blander than the other two but I think he still makes the troubled schemer work alongside the romantic stories and the fatherly role). Larkin Malloy is a fine actor and a handsome, charismatic man, but he just feels too broad and the writing is an absolute mess. That October 19th episode above is a case in point - when he's with Louis he seems like he's playing a Mirror Universe villain from Star Trek.

I didn't really know very much about Mat George, but last week he went viral for this funny tweet over his mother meeting Snoop Dogg (who turned out to be an impersonator). He was also a popular podcaster. He was killed in a hit and run today (this is his co-host): Heartbreaking.

I tried to watch a clip from a few months ago and beyond realizing Ingo has just about entirely lost his accent (I have not watched any Jax scenes in about a decade...), my other takeaway was Sonny calling himself Mike and wearing a poorly fitted cowboy hat. I couldn't make it through more than about 15 seconds of him. Maurice is just so awkward to watch at this point and on top of how cheap the show looks now, if you didn't know better you'd think it was some kind of non-actor making his debut in a very very low budget local production.

Wikipedia has Julie making an appearance in 2002. Did she? I don't remember her coming back again, but I was disgusted by the show so rarely watched.

This feels like an act of pure spite. What a horrible person Manchin is, if that is the case.

I generally agree with some of their points, but the stuff about committees and how if you have committees we will win and if you speak up we will win and look at the Benghazi hearings all feels like circle jerking. Yes - Graham had played Caleb before (in 1990 I think) so I guess he was on standby. I don't think he was a good recast, but I do appreciate how the producers of that era tried to take more care about finding an actor and using them when the times came - I think they also stuck to one temp actor for Hal and for Lyla in those years. I remember when Jennifer would return as Meg, she was usually not that friendly to Julie - it's a credit to the ladies they were able to make it believable. (did she say she met Jennifer auditioning for Facts of Life, or was that Renee?)

I felt like that ended a bit early, although there probably wasn't much left to say. I was mostly glad to finally find out one of the reasons Julie appeared so infrequently in '91 (I didn't know Susan had been written out and was also pregnant in real life). Susan also said that the reason why she and many others were let go was so that P&G would not have to keep paying royalties to Doug Marland's estate for their characters. I wasn't sure if they would get into Michael David Morrison's death, but they did, and she talked about how she'd spoken with him the day before he died. She felt he had a double life and essentially committed suicide. Until now Alan didn't know Louden had died, I don't think (I guess it didn't get a ton of attention as he'd been out of soaps for a decade by that point). I was wondering if she'd have any more to say about him but they seemed to move on quickly...

I think that would have worked ten years ago, but I'm not sure who is left to connect to - Laura in the rare times she's there...or pointless Lulu? I guess there's Liz and Jake. I feel like the time of the Spencers has passed.

I can't stand Valentini either, but I wonder how much of this is down to very high-priced actors who will only stay a year or two compared to high-priced (but maybe not quite as much) actors who are willing to stay long-term.
