  1. I feel some sympathy for her, as she is being used by grifters like Elder and Dave Rubin, but she is causing active harm.
  2. I tend to agree with @Wendyas Manchin is clearly desperate for any and every reason to convince himself obstruction is the ideal (as it makes him feel special and noble). We'll see if anything can happen before it's too late. I imagine most of you have already heard or seen Rose McGowan's incoherent, pathetic team-up with Larry Elder to spread incomprehensible conspiracy theories about Gavin Newsom's family. This is a chilling example of just how much the lunatic far right of talk radio and Youtube has taken over the GOP. I've heard people say the GOP has not spent any money on this race, it's all good for them, and so on, but with a stronger candidate and a coherent race, they might have had a chance against what many used to excoriate as a San Fran limousine liberal. Instead they are just complete and total lunatics. It's terrifying.
  3. Yes, I think Jake/Amanda was more the interim writers before Malone came on. Under Malone, Jake/Vicky became more of a couple, with Shane as the tortured guy she couldn't be with but couldn't get over. I don't know what Malone was going to do with Amanda beyond the DID story. Poor Laura Moss. I wish she'd had more of a chance. Sandra Ferguson was fine, but she didn't even really want to come back.
  4. These were uploaded on Archive - sorry if they were already around. https://archive.org/details/the-young-and-the-restless-september-21-1987 https://archive.org/details/the-young-and-the-restless-september-28-1987

I think the promos suffer from sticking to a recap format. The ABC, CBS and NBC promos were generally more lively and fun.
  6. I hope you do! I'd like to have someone to talk about the show with and I watch more regularly than I do the UK soaps at this point. I have also been watching Home & Away if you ever want to talk about that.
  7. I assumed Zara would return (especially when reading an article saying the actress was just on break), but I was shocked to see that she was pregnant. And that was completely unspoiled - good work! Apparently the actress was pregnant (she's since given birth) so they wrote the pregnancy into the script. Overall they've done a good job of tackling an important issue while also having melodrama, never letting the melodrama drown out the seriousness of the issue. Most soaps don't know how to do that anymore. Even the obviously doomed pairing of Boyd and Kellyanne worked for me, as she was so much more layered than I was expecting (they should take notes with the writing for Desi and Damo). I genuinely felt bad for her. I did not realize Zara and Harper are both bisexual. I wish the show was as willing to be fluid with men. I think Boyd and Drew would make a great couple down the line. And it would have to be better than the endless, tedious, constipated misery with Jack and now Rico. They have already written that gorgeous Tom into a corner through that unpleasant mess.
  8. Last summer, deadend left grifters like Nina Turner and Ryan Knight were pushing a "People's Party." I have a feeling they will join up with Yang in no time. Other pond scum like Brie Brie, last seen shrugging about Jews being killed in the Holocaust, will be along too.
  9. @I Am A Swede Thanks for finding that. I am glad Diane will get a few minutes of story. Glad to see the Doctor Who-Emmerdale ties continue as well. Didn't you think it was nice of him to mention Arthur Pentelow? I know Mr. Wilks is a little more known again these days due to the ITV3 repeats, but still, so many of his best years are hard for people to find.
  10. I never liked this guy, even when I tried. Good riddance to him as he heads on the final road to irrelevance.
  11. Not that Canada is the picture of gentility, but I do feel like some of the ugliness in their current election campaign has been influenced by the far right media ecosystem piped in from the US.
  12. Yet another rock bottom moment for NYT, with another desperate hack (Katie Rogers) getting bailed out by the loathsome Peter Baker and her extremist pals like Olivia Nuzzi. More wagon circling and far right framing at every turn, and a headline that has changed more times than Maggie has checked to see if Ivanka has answered her texts.
  13. Meanwhile Democrats have the likes of Manchin, Sinema, and of course Breyer, who are "above politics."
  14. After reading today about Miles Teller causing a set shutdown after not being vaccinated, I'm glad that for once, a soap is ahead of the curve. If Ingo doesn't like it, then I'm sure he can try to fly his flat ass back home to Australia - oh wait, they might not even let him back in at this point.
  15. She's a pretty repulsive person. I think because she's the type of person who is awful in a very insidious way, yet keeps on chugging along. You are reminded that TV shows telling you someone gets comeuppance are never real. I just feel sick watching her.
  16. Earlier today, Weigel was one of those who was playing the usual media game of claiming that brief GOP silence on the ruling meant they would hesitate. Sure enough, they are tripling down (other states not mentioned include Iowa and North Dakota), and the media is going right along. More dead women, who cares, they have to figure out a way to get Aunt Lindsey on for the 343495th time to talk about how awful Biden is.
  17. Back to the can-kicking, from one of the biggest wastes of oxygen around.
  18. I'm not surprised by this (and yes it could improve - I don't really know what difference that will make at this point), but I'm still angry. The media hates us and wants us to die - they cheer sending our soldiers to slaughter and cry blood tears oncamera when they don't get what they want. I wish that Biden and the party apparatus would see the media as the threat that the GOP does, and work on dismantling the shell that they have been for the last 30-40 years.
