  1. These Oscar ballots often get attention for such controversial comments, but the EW comments go much further than usual. The comments from the "actor" are tough to get through. The crassness makes me appreciate more how Hollywood Reporter manages their pieces.

  3. Rex and Gigi were repulsive. I lost count of how many were sacrificed to make this flop fly.

  5. Dark days for the BBC.
  6. I was listening to this Timothy Busfield interview as I was curious as to his thoughts on Trapper John. Terry Gross very snottily says no one watched the show by the time he joined, to which he basically agrees, and he said he was kind of hoping the show would not stay on much longer when he joined as it wasn't going to define his career and he was able to get good training about acting on television. (it's about 6 minutes in) https://freshairarchive.org/segments/timothy-busfields-experience-medical-tv-shows Do you think Trapper John's final season was bad enough to explain the ratings drop, or had it just reached a natural end, and felt out of place in a mid '80s lineup? I did not realize until now just how much turnover they had at the end of the show either. I can't even find any opening credits for the last episodes, sans Gregory Harrison. Their credits feel so harshly dated. The awful red bleed of 1-6 seems like it's trying to turn viewers into killers (I do like that the 6 theme is slowed down - the original gives me a headache), and Casio keyboard season 7 has tied the later Facts of Life years as the most '80s theme I've ever heard.

  8. That Leonard tweet is really something. More media gushing for their favorite sassy oinker.
  9. I never hear anyone talk about either of these shows. It feels like once Bob Barker left the building, so did any interest beyond background noise in a nursing home.
  10. Thanks so much @slick jones
  11. Depending on how negotiations go, or don't, that episode, or the rest of the season, may be cut.
  12. I could see Jacquie Courtney possibly getting big money, although I wonder how many were getting a million on any soap back then.
  13. The next plans for Republicans stealing elections are in place, and as you can see, the media is already getting giddy over it.
  14. The whole thing with Michelle Yeoh posting and deleting an article that shaded Cate Blanchett is one of those curveballs that will probably be more memorable than the awards themselves.
  15. I find Shortland Street almost literally unwatchable since back from break, to the point where I have to pause multiple times to get through episodes. The show is 100% backbreakingly grim (aside from a weird quasi-comedy character who goes around harassing people about whether they are related to her - ship her off in a box and never mention her again) and is full of issue stories that I just don't know if I believe they are capable of handling. Even when the Brightshine story is finally over, there are so many clapped out caricatures like Dawn and miserable figures like Esther that I never need to see in storyline again.
  16. RH: Jill/Frank. Just endless toxicity and dishonesty in the writing from day 1 of the show, compounded that it took three Franks to find an actor who had chemistry with Nancy Addison. A slew of characters were thrown under the bus, and it was never worth the damage done. I remember Ilene Kristen saying people sympathized with Delia (in spite of the writing telling us that she was a child that Frank was somehow tricked into marrying compared to the worldly, noble Jill), which is likely why the show then went out of its way to trash anyone else (and Delia as well) in later breakups and makeups, to the point of having Seneca force alcohol on Jill and sexually assault her to try to conceive another child. I did root for Jill/Frank over Frank/Faith, but that's more because I hated her guts and wanted to see her humiliated and suffering.
  17. The first (and likely only) rat leaves the Daily Wire...oh not because they're hatemongers - they're all really nice people!!! - but because a few of them said the quiet part a teensy bit too loud.
  18. Thanks. That's lovely to hear, especially from Katy.
  19. Gay and trans people, although we won't be alone... (not that this has anything to do with your post, but there's a very noticeable movement on social media of late by gay and trans right-wingers to blame the lgbt community for what is happening to them and saying if only they had known their place, everything would be fine - similar to when this was astroturfing was done in 2003 and 2004 around the time of a nationwide hate and bashing campaign against gay people, that tells you something very bad is going to be happening soon, likely beyond just legislation)
  20. I say this too much, I know, but until he stops, frankly, lisping (and before anyone says that's homophobic, his party wants to put us in camps, so if I'm saying it, you don't want to know what they're saying), he's going to have real problems in a primary.
