  1. Haitian families in Ohio under attack as racist claims spread - The Haitian Times
  2. We don't know the show's future but I could see this being something various parties agree on to wrap up the Bo and Hope story in a way fans can enjoy, after Ron [!@#$%^&*] the bed. I'm happy for their loyal fans who deserved what will hopefully be a happy ending.
  3. Thanks @Vee . That's a cute photo. Marianne Williamson continuing the descent of so many of the purity left/grifter candidates. I knew the dead end left were right wing at heart but it's disgusting to see them bandwagon on such blatant racism and fearmongering.
  4. That's a great idea. I hate how often soaps need to have children repeat the stories of their parents in the name of melodrama, and the Tess plot is one of the biggest examples of why.
  5. I still don't believe Niki would have allowed that. I never cared for the huge rewrites to that alter, and it just got more and more grotesque.
  6. When Marley returned for Jake and Vicky's wedding, Marley still felt unease surrounding Jake to a certain degree. At that time the writing was very ambivalent about Jake and Vicky even being a proper couple - Jake was gaga over Vicky, but Vicky was still infatuated with Shane and was settling with Jake partly in fear of losing custody of Kirkland to Grant. You can see those dynamics here, as Paulina (who is much much too happy about a man she adored marrying Vicky, and given terrible lines like "Can you picture Jake and the kids at the altar, with God and everyone watching?") convinces Marley to pose as Vicky as Vicky has still not returned from talking with Shane. Once Michael died, Marley along with Donna blamed Vicky and her back-and-forth with Shane for his death. Then after Marley was run over and scarred, she became obsessed with Jake again. I remember a soap article on some scenes with Marley and Jake which aired during the obsession story that addressed the rape - I think Ellen Wheeler and Tom Eplin may have asked for or had input in them. An obsessed Marley was simultaneously denying and clearly still angry and broken over Jake raping her. That was a more nuanced and clearly regretful moment from Jake. Jake had always been written as regretful and awkward around Marley. Unfortunately, after the story where Marley held Vicky prisoner, they just had him being a huge [!@#$%^&*] toward her, no nuance and no history. It was only in the last year or so of the show that they truly whitewashed Jake.
  7. Another article where "undecided" voters end up leaning more toward Trump after the debate, which is another reason I am not sure the debate will hit people the same way it may affect us. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/some-undecided-voters-not-convinced-by-harris-after-debate-with-trump-2024-09-11/ I know this is SNL but it's one of their better political takes. A statement from Linda Ronstadt (she has always been on the left but is saying something as Trump is having a hate rally in an auditorium bearing her name). https://www.instagram.com/p/C_zE5anv8UO/?hl=en&img_index=1
  8. I don't agree. I think she'd be glad to see her favorite show back and she would have all kinds of ideas if she was still here. I agree that a TV movie isn't what she had had in mind but it's still bringing the show back in some form.
  9. I put this in the They Almost Became thread, but hell, why not, I'll put it here too. Rick Hearst reveals that Cynthia Watros auditioned for Lucy on Guiding Light (the role went to Sonia Satra). Lucy was such a thankless part, but then Annie was too for a while. I wonder what Cynthia would have made of it. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-ghs-rick-hearst-ric-on-his-close-soap-call-with-cynthia-watros-nina/

  11. Yes, an Angie movie would be wonderful.
  12. The show hasn't wasted much time in putting the Nina/Ava friendship back together post-Mulcahey.
  13. There are so many they could do. It's a shame Ryan's Hope killed of Mary as Kate Mulgrew could do a film. I guess she still could...
  14. If you see images going around of Biden wearing a Trump hat and unwittingly further spreading Trump/MAGA claims that he hates Harris, here is why:
  15. Even in side profile Gaetz reminds us Ozempic won't cure your true ails.
  16. I think those stories worked because of the people who made them at the time they were made. There's a reason why the later attempts to recreate Tara and Phil (or even Cliff and Nina and Jenny and Greg) failed. Definitely. What could be...and won't. If these work out, I could eventually see her doing one.
  17. I tend to agree with this take (the full thing won't post). I don't think the debate will hurt Trump much if at all; the biggest help for Harris is that it comes at a time when a lot of negative headwinds were being put on her.
  18. I agree, but these are the people who will be the face of voters for the press. Harris can't do anything right - they set her up for failure at every turn. It's always BS, but it's the type of story that tends to stick. People look for reasons to cling to Trump.
  19. If this isn't tied to Ripa and Consuelos I might be more likely to watch, although I wish Agnes Nixon were here to navigate. I mainly hope, if this happens, they can get Susan Lucci as this would be the perfect format to finish Erica's story. If only P&G gave a damn about doing anything with their soaps as this could be a good format for them too.
  20. CNN wants Trump to win. MSNBC wants Trump to win. He made them a lot of money. He made them stars. He made them feel special. He had people working for him who'd get on the phone or text chains and have a good ol' bitchfest they could cackle along with. They just can't admit it outright. Speaking of which, the narrative is already starting to form, which is another reason I am hesitant about how much impact the debate will have.
  21. Very sad news. Joy and Pain is a wonderful song, among so many classics.
  22. If we get to November and Harris wins, I'll agree. Until then I generally just wish the debate hadn't happened.
  23. I think this is another case of us vs the target audience (and the spinmeisters paid to help Trump). The same was said about him in the 2016 debates. What may seem off is a clarion call to the disturbed who flock to him.
  24. They really did come up with this [!@#$%^&*] about eating cats and ducks just to try to help him in the debate. I can't believe we've fallen so low in this country that his insane lies, the same stuff used to demonize immigrants for centuries, are treated as the gospel. One of the most dangerous things about Trump as a candidate is he can say and do whatever he wants in a debate - lie, overtalk, bully, threaten - and if you argue back against him, you will seem defensive. Yet if you just try to take the high road, you look weak. He wins either way. Debating him is just enabling him.
  25. The usual ecosystem filtered out through hatemonger social media, which everyone else then has to react to. I saw Eric Swalwell going on about it today in Congress.
