  1. The last of the Cunninghams, a staple of the show from the first episode. At least we still have Mercedes, Ste, and Cleo...
  2. From @chrisml in the GL thread: Wyndham probably relished playing Justine because it at least gave her something to do rather than being a talk-to for other characters. She had a hard time getting back to Rachel. It reminded me of when Dustin Hoffman played Rainman and then bits of that character showed up in other performances. I don't know if the interview is still around, but somewhere in the point of her 25th anniversary, Michael Logan interviewed her, and she immediately confronted him about his panning of her work as Justine. She said (I am paraphrasing) the material was terrible, and she had to be so ridiculous in order to make it work for her.
  3. The December 1981 partial episode (and the two 1983 episodes) were originally on that Retro Soaps channel that was taken down by Youtube. A shame as I can't imagine how much more rare content they had. Hopefully they might return someday.
  4. I haven't seen the movie, but I don't remember Eric ever dying on the original show. I see that a Wiki lists him as deceased but that doesn't mean anything.
  5. I shouldn't keep repeating Nate Silver talking points here but even as someone who thinks the election will be razor thin or Trump could win, I feel like he's going off the deep end with his narratives - reviving that she will lose because she didn't pick Shapiro and adding that she hasn't "found another gear after brat summer."
  6. He hasn't done anything beyond redemption yet. We'll hope for the best.
  7. @Vee You might be interested in this. It has among others Brooke Langton (later of Melrose), William McNamara (very good in Texasville), and the lovely Dana Ashbrook, saddled with the Caesar cut I never liked on any man.
  8. So far from the bits I've seen he is mostly moody and is there to go to poundtown with Aaron.
  9. Thanks. @Vee That Ingraham clip is complete cringe. Not only her, the sourest of any cable news host, going on about fun and funny, but Vance continuing to look like he's about to eat a live cat. I guess maybe someone very belatedly realized him being the "attack dog" (AKA raging [!@#$%^&*]) didn't drive up any negatives but his own.
  10. I think Mulcahey may not care for Sonny, but I think even Guza tired of the character by the end - it just didn't really matter beyond some of the lines given to the people in Sonny's circle. He never goes anywhere. I can understand the idea Mulcahey was going for, but I was too cynical to go along. My main issue with Ava is I just don't know what is left for the actual character. She is similar to Nina in the actress alone keeps her place on the canvas viable. They should have tried to work with this as Mulcahey did with Nina, but instead Ava was pushed to a place she likely wasn't going to get out of. And now because of the writer changes they have just dropped the whole thing. Brennan and Jagger did seem to have much more chemistry with Laura Wright than most of her central male cast members. I can't see Brennan lasting either. If he weren't mostly on his farm and if he had any ties to Valentini I would say they might call up Paul Anthony Stewart.
  11. @Vee I read that earlier today. I was almost going to post it until I saw you already had. My main takeaway, aside from what you mentioned (and yes how pathetic that here and on the Sunday talk shows he is blatantly giving out instructions for the GOP about how to go after her) was his very revealing choice to share old quotes from Beltway darlings Tom Davis and John Boehner. They were never a tenth of what the elite press wanted them to be (IIRC certain sections of the press begged Davis to run for higher office for years and he never did). I still remember their cringeworthy profiles of Boehner at Politico and the periodic reminders that no, he's not mad at being dumped from power, he's doing just fine, thank you very much! Martin is a part of the GOP's past, and this past year or so has likely been a rude awakening that no amount of cozying up to MAGA will change that. This is an interesting, if not surprising, twist. It especially makes sense with odious Tim Pool, who loves to talk about how we're near civil war. This group has also faded from relevance over the past year, which is probably down to losing some of their funding.
  12. The problem with this story, for me, is that it was inevitable everyone would turn around and support Sonny. This has always been the case with Sonny, including when Mulcahey was on the show the last time around. Yes, more characters were allowed to criticize Sonny back in the day, but the end result was the same. I also think the choices made with Ava, while compelling on paper (the way @Vee theorized the story, anyway) were a mistake, because it meant a lot of idiot plotting happening very quickly, and her fans were riled up at what was likely a slow-moving exit plot for her. If that was the plan, then I wish they had just yanked off the bandage and killed Ava quickly, had her get too smart too fast and end up being offed by some bigger villain, which could have further sent Sonny into a spiral. I tend to agree with those who struggle to compare his run to what is going on now because he was so clearly sandbagged. But the Sonny story was always a false start. I am more curious about just what the hell went on with Jason's return and what Mulcahey's plans for that would have been. With Sam out, Jake gone, Liz presumably back in Lucky's orbit and Carly/Jason still not going anywhere, Jason coming back feels pointless. A part of me wonders if they may actually end up bringing back an undead Britt for him.
  13. I just...was never a fan, although I have appreciated her more since her return as she has some occasional good moments with her daughter and is not there to go on about Eddie and remind us how wicked the Quartermaines are.
  14. @Vee Thanks for the tag. It's interesting to cast Sarah Sherman in this part because she uses a very braying accent in her comedy work on SNL. Like anyone on SNL she tends to stick to schtick, but she's a very likeable presence. I wonder if her casting may indicate Lois keeps her accent. I am actually surprised as I can't remember anyone doing a bit on a soap while they are on SNL, even though SNL itself has never been high brow. I suppose it shows there isn't as much of a stigma as in past years. As for the accent - to be honest I always saw it as a caricature. I prefer watching Rena as Rocky on Loving, even though that was a very generic character in comparison. I imagine the accent will stay, at least in some form, although I wonder if Rena just didn't want to do it as often anymore. Still, given all the buzz about self-acceptance these days, I do think GH may ultimately decide to let Lois keep it.
  15. I've barely watched them but I have some relatives who love them. I think that format suits him more than years on daytime, where his coldness and unlikeability onscreen seep in.

  17. If you see any of this story going around this thread gives many details to debunk it.
  18. You can't keep a pair of bottom feeders apart for long. Brian Stelter Returns To CNN As Chief Media Analyst (deadline.com)
  19. I must say I liked McKeon's work as Tessa the reaper on Supernatural (one of many, many women wasted on that show), but that was very ethereal and subdued work, which is a world away from this hellbeast that the show seems to want Lulu to be.
  20. I don't even remember Landon having that much energy on ATWT, although I haven't cared about going back to look.
  21. I think the concerns are still valid - many of us have spoken this year, repeatedly, about how much longer DAYS and GH will be on. And internationally the situation is also dire, with shows like Shortland Street and Hollyoaks hanging on by their fingernails, with reduced episode orders. Neighbours also has not been given a renewal as of yet. I do feel like we've said most of what we can say on the topic. I will say again that I wish they would go back to creating 15 minute soaps just to see what the public response might be.
  22. When you own the media, you don't have to spend on advertising.
  23. I'm more confused about that shitass Following show.
  24. The media has all the talking points in line for Trump so he doesn't have to actually do anything. The historical importance of returning to Detroit for Labor Day rallies doesn't matter to them so they don't cover it. They are much more interested in having that jackass from the Teamsters all over the place to remind us again he is not endorsing the ticket until they give him what he wants. And in the meantime they can just recycle stories about how black and Hispanic voters love Trump now. I still have PTSD from watching Carnival of Souls on Election Night 2016 so it's both terrifying and very funny to see it used in this context. They just want people to see him as a liar so anything he says will be invalidated. That's why they were even trying to claim he lied about his dog. It's the type of cheap seats attack that was resonant in the years they, and the media and many consultants that want to burn this country to the ground, so dearly miss (1988-2004). They have never gotten over the reality that many voters tune these smears out. They still haven't gotten over Obama winning in 2012 when the narrative insisted their forever friend Romney would triumph.
  25. This tweet, in reply to Nate Silver doing what you've mentioned, says it all: I was not shocked to see Josh Dawsey pitching to praise the shill who wrote all these articles (who also gleefully tweeted an ugly painting of Harris and Biden on sale at the Moms for Hitler rally). As mentioned above, Washington Post is no better.
