  1. November 6, 1984 Digest.
  2. What was Dee's exit? What did you think of Marc? The Mark with Toadie was a dark-haired, young guy, cute, a bit boy next door. I think the short hair suits Susan much more.
  3. July 19, 1983 SOD.
  4. Thanks. To me Connor and Lance weren't that much alike, but who knows. I have probably asked this before too but did Connor's exit bother you? Anyway, I found and watched a March 2002 episode...I didn't realize Susan still had that dark, long, bone-straight hair at this time. I also didn't know Darcy worked as a doctor with Karl's practice. They were fighting because of the receptionist (?), Serena. Was she the one later killed in the plane crash? Meanwhile, Toadie was living with a blonde woman, and her daughter (or maybe not her daughter, I don't know), and Mark, a young guy with dark hair. I think I remember Mark from an earlier episode with his brother? He was staying with Toadie temporarily and Toadie and the woman wanted him to move back home. Steph was dating a hot guy who was in business, and Lyn went from being thrilled at the idea of Steph moving away from trashy guys to being disturbed when she actually met him. At the end he and Steph kissed, but I guess based on Lyn's reaction, it would end badly. The opening credits at that time are a little confusing. Susan is with one group of women, including Libby and Steph, and Lyn is with a bunch of women I don't really know, like Olly or Lolly, Maggie, etc. I wonder why they didn't go by family.
  5. I'd love to hear her ideas - although her 1991 run seemed to be a disaster.
  6. I saw the episode where his girlfriend Alana was lying about her name - she claimed her name was boring, and she wanted to name herself Uhura, but thought that would have been too obvious. This was also when he and Toadie were trying, and failing miserably, to hide from Lou how dirty the apartment they were renting from him had become. He seemed to work very well with Toadie.
  7. It may be. I can't remember. Maybe she looked chubbier in her other outfit.
  8. I was going to ask - I probably asked this ages ago too but oh well - what you thought of Lance? Did the actor want to leave or did they write him out? I liked the character, a nerd type who was also handsome and capable of more than just comic relief. I thought he was one of the cuter guys I've seen on the show over the years.
  9. Could you redo the link?

January 15, 1985 Digest. This issue also says Bob Hamilton, of Bare Essence, has been brought in as a story consultant, and that the focus would shift back to the college.
  11. I will have to watch more and see if they say her name. It doesn't sound like the same character...
  12. December 1976 TV Mirror
  13. Cain would never want to abort one of his children. It shows once again how lazy the show has become and so ignorant of its own history. Stuart Blackburn was talking a while back about how essentially they would choose a character to become a drug addict at random.
  14. No. I feel the same way. I guess it helps that these are written in such a romantic type of way. Even if you know the endings weren't happy it's fun to read them.
  15. Thanks for telling us about this.
  16. It looks like Peter Fernandez had a very lengthy career, and was even the voice for Speed Racer. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0273033/
  17. I only post a few paragraphs - you and Ben post War and Peace
  18. Not very often, no. I mean to, as I like Emily Symons. I am wary mostly because they seem to kill so many people off. Did you have any thoughts on my comments?
  19. I'm not really tuned into the more recent stuff - the last I saw was probably 2-3 years ago. I think reading about the story with Susan and the surrogacy and losing the baby and the war with Dan, etc. kind of turned me off. I keep meaning to watch more. It's tough for me to get into the soaps now because of what Corrie and Emmerdale and Eastenders and Hollyoaks have become over the last year or two.
  20. At the time, in Dolan's first run, I thought there was a very good balance of drama and everyday life. There were a lot of moments where they'd sit around eating takeout, talking about the kids, laughing because another friend or relative is at the door when they want to have some romantic time. It felt very real to me. I do think it started to get worse after Margo's rape, and never really recovered, but I thought there was still a semblance up to around the time of the plane crash and then finally the Diego murder mystery. That story was week after week of Margo having "episodes," and screaming, while Tom screamed at her and about her. After that it was never the same for me, and this became the default mode of the characters. I never understood the idea behind the Alec Wallace character. Oakdale already had one repressed control freak with dark secrets (David/Reid), so let's bring in another one for concurrent stories? Michael Woods could have been an asset to the show under different circumstances. He might have been an OK Craig. He couldn't have been worse than most of the recasts.
  21. What names did they mention? I think she had a brother on the show, although that may have been Tony's brother..
  22. Tom and Margo had a lot of humor, fun moments, and family time when Holmes and Dolan were in the roles. In the first few years anyway. It really started to go downhill with Valente/Black & Stern but it was FMB who put them in one story after another that involved Margo yelling, Tom yelling, Margo being disoriented and dumb and Tom being self-righteous and dour. The worst story was that godawful mess where teenage Eddie "man" Silva moved in with them and was lusting after Margo. Really?? Then you had Emily becoming this pathetically unhinged loser who went out of her way to destroy Margo's marriage in spite of Margo's kindness toward her over the years. The most disgusting was when Margo had a miscarriage and Emily convinced Tom that Margo was on her way to an abortion clinic. The story destroyed the last shreds of anything I ever knew in Tom and Margo, and after FMB was canned, no one ever cared about picking up the pieces. Frankly, I think you could have written them out and it wouldn't have made a big difference to the show's last ten years. Other than yelling at Casey or Margo having to deal with her sleazy pig of a brother and her brain dead sociopath of a sister...when the show remembered they were related
