  1. This has been on for a few years but I didn't see it until now for some reason. In case anyone else had missed it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjsKNpqvpA8&feature=related

  3. I'm glad you are feeling better. You may be referring to another thread but I appreciate your kind words, as always.
  4. I always associate Pointer with her role on Knots Landing as the woman who stalked Ginger because Ginger had aborted her son's child.
  5. Schemering credited L Virginia Browne with getting the show's ratings up after Pat Falken Smith's bad tenure, and seemed to credit her with aging Phillip. She was an assistant writer to Marland. I have an interview with them somewhere. I think I posted a photo of the other Rick in the recast thread long ago.
  6. I never knew his wife was on Ryan's Hope. Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer wrote for WTHI for a while and also created Ryan's Hope, so that's probably the reason for the casting (Gregory Abels, Robyn Millan, Louise Shaffer, and Delphi Harrington also appeared on both shows).
  7. Good Lord. Most of their current cast can't even act now. What will they be doing live?
  8. I love that! She would put a hurting on Phyllis and the other pigs. I just wish she would have ripped out Sharon's hair and gotten her a good weave.

  12. The ratings for Ryan's Hope had already slid before then, so I'm not sure if it would have made a huge difference long-term. I think the show had failed to sustain themselves past a very small group of characters. There was a hideous storyline in 1979 where Delia was playing the stock market, and doing well, and Johnny, jealous of her, started playing, only to lose everything. Instead of blaming himself, he shamed Delia until she bought the bar to keep the family from being thrown out. He and his sidekick Kevin laughed at her and treated her like garbage even though she was the only reason he had not put his family on the street. This entire story, especially when her Barney Rubble broker got involved, is one of the worst I've ever seen on soaps, and significantly damaged a number of characters. Around this same time, he encouraged Siobhan to spearhead a rent strike which led to a serious beating for Jack and Siobhan and Jack being trapped in an exploding building. As Siobhan got all the blame for this, Johnny said nothing about his role in her actions. I thought he was a self-righteous, very petty, childish man who always wanted to show everyone how right he was, no matter the price paid.
  13. The "liberal" media loves writing puff pieces on true believers like Paul Ryan, the man who made headlines over his crusade against Medicare, and this NYT profile is a doozy, from showing a photo of Mitt Romney gazing at Ryan adoringly, to telling us how kick-ass he is because he listens to rock music and works out! He shoots a bow! The Republicans are gushing over his tough manliness! http://www.nytimes.c...&pagewanted=all This is what is passed off as journalism today. That article also does a song and dance around his Ayn Rand devotion and how she shaped his politics. He is trying to backpedal on that furiously, swearing to National Review that he rejects her views because she was an atheist. An audio recording of his comments a few years back does not suggest this. http://www.theatlant...ayn-rand/51711/
  14. At least she never babysat him or had him in her wedding, as some other blunders of rapid aging have done.
  15. I grew to loathe him, but he was certainly a memorable character.
  16. That Emma reveal was a shock, yet, based on their history, makes some sense. Great casting of Pamela Peyton Wright.
  17. I hope people will eventually realize they are voting for a party that basically sees them as freeloading, pathetic wastes of skin (the Wall Street Journal calls poor people "lucky duckies" - I guess we're back in the 1810's), but I don't know if it will ever happen. The GOP excels at class warfare and teaching to hate. It's sad to think that people who are literally living hand to mouth will soon be gouged into paying taxes, and the media just loves every second of it.

  19. Here's your May calendar, at least if you're reading this from 1983.
  20. This is a man who is often lauded by the media as a brilliant brain trust, and the future of the GOP. The future of the GOP is saying to tax the poor so you won't have to tax the rich. That's what America is becoming, apparently. http://www.tnr.com/blog/timothy-noah/102966/eric-cantor-tax-the-poor
  21. Eden is great in this scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3iFDjclCh8&feature=plcp
