  1. The polls show the race tied. The media and the big money elites have too much invested in Romney to let him lose. It will be very close.
  2. Kin Shriner auditioned to play AMC's Pierce (Jim Fitzpatrick got the role). Jim Fitzpatrick auditioned to play Michael Delaney (Chris Bruno got the role).
  3. They should have dumped Whitney years ago. I don't think she has ever worked. Someone in casting has a type. He looks like the Moon brothers, and Danny, Callum, et al.
  4. Tyler was the one people seemed to dislike more. Why do they keep the worst male characters...
  5. When Susannah Hanen was on in 1995 they sort of seemed to hint at building a relationship between them, although that went nowhere. Too bad, as I think Michael Storm was still pretty hot for a long time after OLTL stopped caring.
  6. What story did he even have in 1986? I can't remember. Was it the Larry/Jenny story? Or was that even a story? Rauch did give him more to do in the Eterna story, and when he dated Brenda...I guess that was his last hurrah, if you can call it that. I think the character was only as prominent as he was because of Karen. If not for her I think he may have been marginalized even sooner.
  7. I'll never forget even reading some very liberal political blogs in late 2004 and seeing threads like "Democrats must throw gays under the bus." It's a good reminder of who is truly important in the party. If the economy keeps sputtering along and Romney continues to have the money and the media adoration, I don't think Obama has any real shot, especially since his campaign is so very tone deaf. But I do think that this guarantees gay marriage will get a lot of the blame.
  8. I don't think gay marriage support will hurt his chances in North Carolina. I think it's mostly about the economy.
  9. Gays always get the blame anyway. They did in 2004, as very prominent Democrats blamed gay marriage for the loss, instead of the lousy campaign of John Kerry and the national party. This actually gives Democrats an easy way out if Obama loses - they won't have to address any of their failings.
  10. That's certainly a big step, and one I never thought I'd see. I will say that if he had just said this some time ago he would have saved himself a big headache, because now it seems like politics. I also expect this will cause a drop in support of gay marriage, because the media will spin this very negatively, and it will become a more polarized issue. It comes across as too little, too late, when it didn't have to be this way. For all the breathless media talk of "moderate" and "sensible conservative" Mitt Romney, in that article he continues to show just how hostile he is to gay rights. The most he can support is domestic partnership benefits, and my guess is he doesn't even support that, since he said absolutely nothing about the NC amendment which bans them. He will not hire gay people for his campaign. He opposed DADT repeal. He opposes anti-discrimination laws. Only in today's world does opposing any form of gay rights and supporting the departure of gay employees make you a moderate!
  11. That's fascinating stuff. I guess NBC should have revived Secret Storm, as HTSAM didn't work out. I didn't know Judy Lewis returned to the show at the end. I thought she was gone a few years earlier. I never knew DIana van der Vlis replaced her! I would love to see that. I wasn't a huge fan of Diana Millay on Dark Shadows but I'd like to see her here, along with Diane Ladd. Thanks for all these details. If there are any actors you want to see any articles on, let me know (if you haven't already seen them of course).
  12. This law also nullifies existing domestic partnership ordinances in various cities, and will nullify domestic violence laws for people who are not legally married.
  13. I thought this was interesting. It's clear that the "liberal" media were expecting Romney to go back to being their special, oh-so-sensible friend. http://firstread.msn...ar-likely-loses Politically, Romney has never been anything other than a con artist. He has adapted so much to the hard right sell that he won't stop now. It's very telling that he can only sneer at student loans as "free stuff." On another occasion, he told students to just ask their parents for money. The rich like Romney are happy and proud that they can now openly admit how much contempt they have for anyone who isn't rolling in cash. That will just become more and more flagrant as the campaign goes on. It's a very cynical campaign - let's just tell these people they are bums and need to stop expecting handouts (handouts are only for the banks) - and sadly, it will likely work. I read an article in the Christian Science Monitor tsk-tsking people for saying Romney should have told that woman that Obama shouldn't be tried for treason. Only in today's media environment would you have the press PRAISING Romney for not condemning accusations of treason.
  14. I guess she'll be there until next year. I am not surprised by this, as it was said from the very beginning that she wouldn't be around long. They clearly only cast her because she's friends with Phil Collinson, not because she was suited for the role or because she had longevity. Collinson probably won't stay a lot longer either, since he clearly hates Corrie and everything it ever stood for. So who cares about what is best for the show when you can just give your friends some money?
  15. I think the problem is that when you become all about drama and you market yourself on that (complete with magazine profiles and all the rest), it's tough to shut that box. I just wish she and Danielle would run into each other, as she seems to have taken over Danielle's role on the show.
  16. I doubt his comments had anything to do with his end on GL. The character was always on borrowed time. Not too subtle dig there. Supposedly she was very upset about playing out romantic scenes with him and not being told that he had HIV.
  17. The whole reason Lieberman was put into office was because of conservatism. The right loathed Lowell Weicker and trusted Lieberman. I do remember criticism of him in 2000, especially his friendly debate with Dick Cheney. Tell that to Anita Hill. He almost lost in 1992 for that reason. People wanted Specter to switch to get to 60 seats, not because they loved him. Only organized labor had any strong ties to him in that area. That was a whole different time for the GOP, before the anger at the establishment. The legislation which President Bush passed in those years and which was seen as such a huge boon for the party, like the Medicare changes and NCLB, would not be passed today. Besides, Pat Toomey is an acquired taste. He barely even won PA last year, in a hugely successful year for the GOP, against an abrasive, underfunded Democrat.
  18. Specter switched parties a year or so before the primary, so he wasn't much of a Democratic moderate. Lieberman hasn't been a moderate ever. I doubt that Mourdock will lose in November. It just sort of shows you that all you have to do to win is hate the right people and not have a lot of baggage. Hayworth had huge baggage, and was not dissimilar enough from McCain in personality.
  19. I don't know the official reason for why Cain and Tina broke up. Either way it wasn't shown onscreen and the zero sense of sorrow she felt over the end of their relationship was just bad writing. I hate Malone Tina.
  20. It's almost primary day for longtime Beltway hero, Reasonable Republican Richard Lugar. All that fondness from Very Serious journalists and his DC friends will likely get him some great work once he's out of the Senate, replaced by another generic type who mostly exists to remind us which undesireable we should hate. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0512/75972.html
  21. You've made your own opening credits! Congrats. Wow, wasn't expecting to see Toni again. Whatever happened to her fiance, Chris Madison? He was Jake's best friend. Good to see Rachel fighting back.
  22. I was going to post that but wasn't sure if any H&A fans were posting at the moment. Are you surprised she's going? Was Colleen the one with the drinking problem?
  23. The last version of Faces of the Heart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV_ja6BLXcA
  24. Thanks for taking the time to share that.
  25. AddieCate put up a lot of clips today. Here are a few. Never understood why Cain and Tina got such heavy romantic buildup and goodbyes when Tina would return a few months later feeling absolutely zero for Cain and happily moving on with her own brother. They had little to no respect for Tina.
