  1. I guess that's what they did later with Meg. I would have brought him in as a new character with no real ties to Oakdale. Either way it seemed like he was from a new family anyway.
  2. I didn't know that. I think I read that he created Mike and Mark, and mentioned their history of abuse (which I think the show briefly touched on), although, as you said, Sara wasn't his. It's still hard to believe at one point they were supposed to be the show's new core family. For me the Snyder family ended around 1992 or 1993. Jack had the last name and sometimes had nice scenes with Emma, but I never cared about his relationship with Holden and I thought the show did a poor job of making them all seem like a family (and Brad was a mess). Another clip from 1979.
  3. I liked the Snyder kitchen too. To be honest I preferred their front room, which felt very much like some homes I went to for holidays and family gatherings when I was growing up, and there were some really beautiful scenes set around that area, and the even more rarely seen bedrooms, like when Emma talked to Meg about when she was a little girl and the dreams she'd have. I thought the kitchen was homey, and felt true to the characters. The only other set I felt like that with on ATWT was Margo and Tom's house.
  4. I think he did create the Kasnoffs. I think there may have been an idea of them replacing the Snyders, although I'm not sure if that was his idea. By the time he passed away, Caleb and Holden and Iva were the main siblings left, and Caleb was a supporting character. (Seth was on the way out, Ellie and Meg were gone).
  5. George Will is an embarrassment to our country, yet again. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/george-will-compares-obamacare-to-fugitive-slave-act-segregation Meanwhile, I would point and laugh at every dipshit who throws a fit when the media or Republicans don't mention Obamacare as the evil of evils, but these people have too much power. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/conservatives-furious-that-ryan-didn-t-address-obamacare-in-debt-proposals
  6. She was John's niece, yes. Her father came on the show toward the end of her run, as part of Lucinda's efforts to make John think he wasn't Duke's father. She mostly contrasted with Lily, as Dusty dated her, but wanted Lily. Then later, a guy, Spence, was paid to woo Lily, but wanted Pam (he held her captive until she convinced him to get professional help...Marland was quite a believer in that). I guess they thought she just had no real potential for story, but I wish she'd stayed around. Or at least visited sometimes.
  7. The Beth and Eric scene in this is great stuff. Classic soap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOovzQV18p4
  8. Not 106. I'm actually kind of annoyed about that report going so far in the news, because people are already saying they will feel let down if it's just a small amount of episodes. Even one episode is huge. And most likely the only way we will keep getting these is if we show support (as in this Itunes plan that is supposedly going to happen), instead of saying it's not good enough. The rumor is that they're going to be releasing 9 episodes, almost the entirety of Enemy of the World and Web of Fear (one episode of Web of Fear is still missing, according to this rumor), to itunes, to sell. And down the line they may also have the last episode of the Tenth Planet. Deborah Watling and Frazer Hines will be at this announcement, which makes it more likely that this is going to be about Web of Fear and Enemy of the World. http://www.deborahwatling.net/News/index.htm
  9. Thanks YRfan! A great promo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbdxSa0kamo

  12. I never liked Courtney either. She seemed fake. I never knew why Marland gave up on Beau so quickly. He wasn't a great actor but he was a little different for ATWT at that time, as he wasn't just another Snyder, he wasn't someone's long lost relative, etc. His exit story, leaving town with Nella Franklin, seemed so random and rushed. I can't remember if they were a couple.
  13. Sharpton has never played a major role in the party. His role in the black community has long been fairly divisive. I think in recent years he's become more prominent because he's avoided scandal and stopped being as publicity hungry, while some of his peers, like Jess Jackson, have fallen into a slump. But even with that, I don't think he is a major influence. I think there's something of a void, which is why you had Tavis Smiley and others trying to take some voice.
  14. Thanks. That was an episode on a Soap Classics DVD of a few years ago. I still wish they were allowed to keep going.
  15. The shock value nonsense makes me ashamed I ever watched this show. There seem to be zero plans or goals or foundation in any part of this show now.
  16. These people run our country http://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2013/10/07/state-representative-stands-by-her-comparison-of-obama-to-hitler/
  17. Isn't Andy Cohen fond of Kenya too?
  18. Media does their false equivalency routine yet again. This has done such damage to America. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/white-house-aide-pushes-back-against-reporter-s-false-equivalence-on-debt-limit
  19. Does it ask him about his dick size?
  20. August 1957 TV Radio Mirror. This was similar to a Ma Perkins ad in this era, I guess a last ditch attempt to modernize these shows for listeners.
  21. I love this song very, very much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmG43k1IZAE
  22. Oh good, there are two of us. I read and SOD review basically saying Jennifer Ashe was the only young actress to emerge during Martha's reign, and it's true. I meant Brad Hollister, yes. He was supposed to be a youngish leading man on ATWT in that era yet I have never seen any fans of his. I wonder if there were even any at the time. People talk about Dee's relationships with John, and James, but never him. He looked like an aging porn actor.
  23. I still can't get past this stupid stunt at DAYS about casting soap stars to be gunned down. Why was this ever seen as a great marketing idea? Was someone going to tune in for this?
