  1. I wasn't thrilled with the crying scenes but otherwise Matthew Wolfenden did well. This story has been the making of David and Alicia as a proper couple, and I love the family unit with Leyla and Eric. I hope they won't split David and Alicia up for any silly reasons, ever. Thomas Atkinson has been wonderful as Lachlan throughout this story. I still have no time for a Chrissie and Lachlan Redemption Tour, but he's had a difficult task and has really played a blinder in the role. I'm liking Carly more than I thought I would, mostly because she hasn't been as aggressive and pointlessly nasty as she was in her first episode. She and Ross aren't bad together either, although she's no Donna. I will say it doesn't make a ton of sense for Emma to want them together, as she wouldn't want him to be with a woman who would stand up to her. Ryan Hawley is literally sex on legs. Damn damn damn. https://twitter.com/allaboutsoapmag/status/578929198863159296
  2. Here we go again. Boehner's standing up to conservatives...this time he means it! http://www.politico.com/story/2015/03/john-boehner-defies-conservatives-goes-bold-on-budget-116249.html?ml=po
  3. Had to laugh that in this "please like me!" interview, the new Martin chose not to praise Natalie Cassidy as a cast member who was helping him settle in. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a636707/eastenders-james-bye-i-still-see-james-alexandrou-as-martin-fowler.html
  4. Deniz looks like he's choking her out. That "shocked" bed picture for Unter Uns cracks me up. How are VL's ratings doing now?
  5. I tend to wonder if reunions do more harm than good for this show. I'm sure someone might say Brandi (with help from Andy as always) "dragged" or "slayed" Joyce at last year's reunion, but the ratings were still weak for season 4, and remained weak for season 5, in spite of extensive efforts to turn things around. If she "drags" or "slays" Kyle or Rinna or Eileen at the reunion (likely with more help from Andy), does that warrant another season of unpleasant, repetitive storylines, and weak ratings? It's the same with Atlanta. Porsha "dragged" or "slayed" Kenya last year, and stayed on when it seemed to be her time to go. She's shoehorned into many episodes, even when demoted, and ratings are down by 1/3 from last season. I doubt she's the only reason, but it can't help.
  6. Thanks. I must have missed his appearances. I'm glad they at least acknowledged that reality.
  7. Probably the Beck Party, which you too can join if you buy your weight in gold...
  8. It's the Wed. July 17 episode. She pops up in the clinic - I'm not sure if she has any dialogue or not. Then she is in the beauty shot/crawl. She has a pink suit and white gloves. I think I somehow missed the one with Jo Henderson. I'll have to go back and watch it.
  9. I'm sure you already have all of this, but if you ever want me to put down some of the casting news that used to be in the back of Daytime TV issues, I could do that with what I have, when I find them again. I guess there's also the cast lists at the end of The Doctors episodes. This is more for The Doctors thread, but does anyone know who the woman was in a July 1968 episode, she was in the clinic mostly, a tall, middle-aged woman with a pink suit?
  10. I like most of those ideas, although Tina and marblemouth Zsa Zsa might lead to helplines being through the roof.
  11. I guess someone had to take over for Jared Leto.
  12. It was interesting to read about how they were going to give him AIDS but then became too afraid of viewer reaction. I imagine this is the reason why there were no gay men with HIV or AIDS on daytime until somewhere around 1994 or 1995 (the scenes Julia had with the man dying of AIDS were far more powerful than I had expected). It's too bad they never really brought Hank back, to test the boundaries further. I guess maybe Marland was wary of pushing too far, as I don't remember reading about him having any plans to bring in more gay characters during his last 4 years writing the show.
  13. I always remember Martin being a moany brat, but we watched James Alexandrou grow up in the role so it worked a little more. This guy just seems so generic and so does his misery. It feels like a lot of forced conflict. I agree about the way Fatboy is treated. Similar to the way Tamwar is treated. For all the talk of EE being a soap for "real" people, not stuck up like ED or Corrie, it has a disturbing class system and has for years now.
  14. Well, as much as I do think there's a huge racial element to the way Loretta Lynch is being treated, for once I'm glad such blatant race-baiting was called out. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/03/dick-durbin-loretta-lynch-back-of-bus-116180.html?hp=t1_r
  15. Gale Anne Hurd Kickstarter for a new movie project. It's about a Native American woman who overcame great odds to become a chief justice. Some fun goodies with various TWD cast members past and present. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/valhallaent/mankiller
  16. Martin and Sonia, although she and Martin wouldn't have the best of memories together (her pained marriage to Mark). I guess this could just be about Louise, although Phil will already have enough on his plate, unless they have Denny as the abuser instead of Ben this time. It was just a photo of her at the studio so I guess it could be nothing. I did like her 2010 return so I wouldn't be sorry if it's more.
  17. Rumors of a Lisa return. http://metro.co.uk/2015/03/17/eastenders-spoilers-lisa-fowler-set-for-shock-return-to-cause-trouble-for-phil-mitchell-5108187/
