------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't realize she had a quote about sticking to the same formula, here it is since it goes back to a prior discussion about her: See, and her humility is one of the main reasons I've always enjoyed her. Just to clarify my thoughts, she doesn't have to do anything different at all. I'd love to see her grow and change and evolve, but I'm not hating on the new album. She's the best mainstream vocalist of her time and, as noted above, will destroy the competition every step of the way.

All My Children Tribute Thread
This FINALLY made its way on to YouTube. It's the special episode of A&E's Biography from 2003 that focuses on AMC with some general soap stuff as well. It focuses mostly on the process of producing a single episode (#8442) while also touching on other topics. I used to have this on VHS, but I haven't had a VCR in yeeeeeeeears. There are some great classic clips in here, including some of that late 70s stuff that I'm always searching for.

How can you agree with Cheap if you say... ? LOL Cos, of those four, only one is actually a "mopey break-up song"! And a beautiful one (co-written by Linda Perry) at that! Have you listened to the album? I hate the way the board does quotes now. I prelistened to each song on iTunes the day the album came out. I know those aren't all mopey, but I was literally referring to the titles lol Production-wise, there are different things going on, so I'll be fair and stop using "mopey." Lyrically, though? It's nothing new.

I completely agree with Cheap. I'm sorry, but just those titles alone are screaming "More mopey break-up songs!!" I get this, but at some point, it just becomes formulaic, IMO. A new Adele album, a new batch of break-up hits in which Adele is either the wounded doe or the sassy victor. She is an extraordinary singer, but if every album is going to be the same, what's the point?

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Wow, what a treasure trove you've put together! Thanks for the heads up. The holiday break is coming up, so I'll be sure to partake in some classic UK soap. It's become sort of an annual routine.

I mostly remember Adam Rickitt having cheese face in his second run on the show. He might have been a young heartthrob in the 90s, but yikes. But then when you compare him to Ben Price...

The full schedule of holiday programming has been released: http://www.metv.com/files/schedules/MeTV_2015_PRIME_HOLIDAY_CAL_ET_REV.pdf Once again, I'm wetting my pants with excitement! At some point, even when TV Land was still mostly classic TV, they stopped pulling out other shows for marathons and only stuck with what was already on the regular schedule, so it's GREAT to have a holiday marathon that includes random shows that aren't on the schedule. The White Shadow, Vega$, and Our Miss Brooks are the biggest surprises. The only thing I'd ask for is that they did something on weekends too, possibly a two or three hour block during the day.

I'm suddenly EXTREMELY EXCITED because they'll be pulling out a Thanksgiving episode of Our Miss Brooks in two weeks, followed by Donna Reed, in primetime. Too psyched!

What Are You Listening To?
I'm loving the tracks from Bieber's new album. This is my fave so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ELbX5CMomE No, it's okay, I didn't want to embed it at all.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Aw man I'd previously assumed that he'd already passed away, but learning that he hadn't brought a new level of enjoyment in my watching the mid/late 70s episodes (still making my way through 1976, slowly, but almost to '77). You're right, Carl. Ernest represented a huge part of Corrie's formula that isn't there anymore. The uptight, prim and proper pillar of the community who is just absolutely dumbfounded when he's revealed to be human every now and then. Farewell to another part of a bygone era.

I just realized since the Christmas stuff starts on the 16th, you can already look up the first week's schedule: Monday: Family Affair & The Bob Newhart Show Tuesday: The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis & The Lucy Show Wednesday: 21 Jump Street Thursday: The Doris Day Show & Make Room for Daddy Friday: The Brady Bunch (Thanksgiving and Christmas)

I was going to say that I'm surprised they didn't do some kind of marathon tonight to celebrate it, given that WW regularly airs on Saturdays already, but I'm really not surprised at all. They rarely break from the regular schedule.

The Christmas celebration looks like it's gonna be the best yet this year. They're simply airing an hour of Christmas programming each week night from November 16 through December 25, but it'll include tons of shows not on the regular schedule including Mama's Family, Hill Street Blues, Father Dowling Mysteries, The White Shadow, Dr. Quinn, MacGyver, and others. I can not wait for the full schedule to come out! I've been wanting to see The White Shadow for years, and it'll be nice to finally see an episode of HSB now that I'm actually interested in watching it. Also excited to see Father Dowling.

The news isn't the content of the lyrics (which we haven't heard, really). The news is that the woman whose last album has sold nearly 30 million copies (11 million of them in the US), who has the highest digital sales album ever, who is universally adored for her voice and songwriting talent and managed to be a superstar despite the immense hangups our world has about overweight women, who has the most successful album of the decade so far, who had the #1 album two years in a row, and on and on and on, is releasing a new album. She'll slay! Hatuuurs to the left. I get it. Bertha makes the people wet. I really don't think her being overweight has been a factor in anything she's done in years, though, especially considering she dropped a considerable amount of weight between 19 and 21 (the albums, not the ages). Everybody clings to Adele because "OMG she's a real singer!" and that's great, but my head isn't so easily turned by that anymore. If her brand is the "real singer" who sings about "real things," then I need to see some progression. I can take 30 albums of Britney sipping that bub in the club, but I can't take yet another Adele record filled with torch songs. It's time for her to use that voice in other ways. Look, I'm glad she's bad, but I'm not excited because for all we know, this song could have been a last-minute cut from 21. There's nothing new here at all, really.

There were shows making boob jokes when M*A*S*H was on just as there are shows with good stories and good acting now, so I'm not understanding the purpose here...

Degrassi: The Next Generation
Oh. My. GOD. Daniel Clark is SO SO SO SO fine!!! I can't even handle it. That hairline is steady receding, and I don't even care.

Degrassi: The Next Generation
Thanks for sharing, BF!! I'm really finding it hard to believe that "we don't want to confuse the audience" is their one and only reason for not putting the entire series on Netflix, especially considering that the new series with be under a different title. The show's viewers aren't stupid, and if they just labeled all of the 2001-2015 as "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (as opposed to just "Degrassi"), it wouldn't be hard to differentiate between that and "Degrassi: Next Class." To be honest, the most confusing thing about all of this for me is who exactly cancelled the series. From what I've read, it'll still be on TV in Canada. Will all of the episodes debut on Netflix and then air weekly in Canada? Or will they be posted to Netflix after all 20 have aired in Canada? I don't think Netflix does a weekly upload like Hulu... Plus, if it's going to still be on TV in Canada, then that really makes me wonder why Teen Nick decided to drop it because SURELY it was still one of the highest-rated programs. But we've talked about that already. I'm glad they're bringing back a full-length opening sequence, but there's no need to discard the basic format that everyone knows and loves. It'll be up-to-date by principle of depicting the characters as true teens/high school students of 2016. Or, they could expand upon the abbreviated sequence they were using, which was pretty visually appealing. They could easily throw some head shots of characters in there with actor names.

Yeah, that is absolutely not a good shot of him at all. I'm glad Steve's in this!

Unsung
If they've done something for them, I've never seen it. I did a quick search, and I can say with certainty that Unsung has never profiled them. In the midst of that search, though, I did find this interview that FB did for Ebony last year. So smooth and laid back, and I love that my favorite Maze song ("We Are One") is also his favorite. VICTIM is my favorite Candi Staton track, so yes, I totally agree. All this thinking of people who can be done on Unsung has me wanting CMT or GAC or whomever to do something similar for classic country artists of the 70s/80s (and I guess 90s, though that's usually where I start tuning out as far as country is concerned). Or hell, a general show that focuses on unsung artists in non-mainstream genres. The disco episode was good, but they could totally delve deeper into the stories of some of those people. Back to regular Unsung. A general episode on all of the southern blues/soul artists who are basically 100% unknown to mainstream audiences but sell out shows all the time.

Unsung
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates Steve Harvey. As far as who I want to see on Unsung? I've already said it multiple times, but why not again. It will always be BETTY WRIGHT followed by MAZE FEATURING FRANKIE BEVERLY. I don't know, maybe it's just a southern thing (or not even southern - maybe it's a Louisiana thing), but those two are STAPLES at family parties and get-togethers. It's not a party until you hear Maze's "Before I Let Go" or Betty's "Tonight is the Night." They may have had limited chart success, but they were and still are very successful live performers who has mad respect in the industry. That's the definition of unsung to me, and they need to get on producing those episodes. Beyond them? They've already done Evelyn Champagne King, Con Funk Shun, Cherrelle, Deniece Williams, Sylvester, and Rose Royce. I guess Johnny Taylor and Tyrone Davis. OHHHH, First Choice!! Candi Staton! I'd LOVE it if they could find Shirley Ellis of "The Name Game" and "The Clapping Song" fame.

I've become a huge fan of westerns (peep the Dodge City squad in my signature), but I've never been big on Bonanza, and it really is run into the ground. The main thing for me is that there are tons of other successful westerns out there that they could air instead, and I doubt the ratings would be much different. They could try Wagon Train on weekdays. Or bring on something like Alias Smith and Jones. The one thing I do like about this new schedule is that they seem to be giving more exposure to sitcoms. I'm ALL about focusing on bringing in more drama/action/western series because they are always given the shaft, but ME has become the only place for shows that were so prominent in reruns for so long, and I hate to see them go. Lucy in a better time slot is something I've been wanting them to do for years now.

It looks like they did Sunday and M-F first and then were like "Eh, f!ck it, I'm tired, just leave Saturday the way it is." And then Sunday night is just "Let's. Just. Throw. All. The Extra. Sitcoms. Together." "Matlock" is an interesting addition. Some people will bitch about it being "too new" even though it's the old folks standard. Still, with so much changing, they could only squeeze in ONE new show? There are quite a bit making return appearances, but damn. Doris Day's been on their website for like 2 years, and they've never put her on the regular schedule for a spell.

Bill Cosby
I used to sneak a peek at 7th Heaven every now and then because I love me a good family drama, but I never watched it regularly. When they banished it last year, I honestly forgot it even existed. I see that UP has quietly brought it back.
