ARTICLE: ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ Renewed For Two Seasons, Will Remain On Air Through Atleast 2027-2028 TV Season
Earlier this week, CBS announced the renewal of its nationally syndicated daytime talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show,” for two additional seasons, bringing the chatfest through the 2027-2028 television season and covering stations owned by CBS, Nexstar and Sinclair, where it’ll see significant time period upgrades in seven of the top 40 markets. Produced and distributed by CBS Media Ventures, the Drew Barrymore-hosted talker is an anchor across CBS Stations in several major markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Along with its renewal, beginning this fall, the show is receiving time slot upgrades in Seattle, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Baltimore, Kansas City and Cincinnati. Currently in its sixth season, “The Drew Barrymore Show” has emerged as daytime television’s fastest-growing talk show, celebrating its most-watched season to date with 1.6 million daily viewers, while also becoming a solid multiplatform performer, where it has expanded its digital and social footprint to more than 14 million followers across platforms, with engagement up +47% year over year. “Drew is the original influencer – a true trendsetter and culture-driving force who has consistently stayed ahead of the conversation. The success of this show is rooted in the fact that Drew shows up as her unfiltered, authentic self every single day, continually challenging the conventions of daytime television and reimagining what the format can be in a multiplatform world,” said Jason Kurtz, executive producer, “The Drew Barrymore Show.” “What matters most to us is our viewers and the people that come here! This show began as a space for intimate conversation, and we’re continuing to plant our flag as a truly multiplatform experience,” said Barrymore. “We live in a world where people discover content in so many different ways, and from the very start in 2020, our mission was to break the mold rather than conform to the traditional daytime landscape.” “I hold myself accountable to staying savvy about how and where this show is seen – feeding every corner that counts, while daring to just be myself and figure out life with others,” continued Barrymore. “My curiosity about people is what fuels me. I’m so excited to continue as I see this endeavor as an opportunity and a gift. Our show family is deeply grateful for the support of CBS and George Cheeks [Chair of TV Media at Paramount, a Skydance Corporation], who all helped us get here.” The renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” comes just weeks after Telepictures/Warner Bros. Television Distribution ordered a fifth season to fellow daytime talk show “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” and comes as the talk landscape prepares to say goodbye to the likes of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “Sherri,” “Karamo” and even “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” each of which are ending their multi-season runs with the 2025-2026 television season. ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ Sets New Season Highs In Key Demos, ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Top Soap In Women 18-49 – RATINGS
The key is outperforming "The Talk," which CBS canceled due to poor demos and viewership, bad retention following its lead-in and low interest in streaming. As long as Beyond the Gates doesn't crash and burn in linear, and has good numbers on streaming, it'll survive, though it's now competing against itself when looking at year-over-year comparisons.

The series premiere of “Marshals” on CBS averaged 9.52 million viewers on Sunday, March 1, becoming the most-watched new scripted series debut without a football lead-in since 2018, according to Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel data from Nielsen. Only CBS’ “FBI” premiere on September 25, 2018, performed better (10.09 million vs. 9.52 million). The premiere episode emerged as the most-watched program across all of television during the week of February 23 – March 1, 2026, and was the No. 1 new series premiere of the 2025-2026 broadcast season. The show held 99% retention by half-hour breakdown, indicating viewers liked what they saw throughout the hour. For the week, “Marshals” tied ABC’s premiere of “Scrubs” for second place with a 0.7 rating among Adults 18-49, the key sales demographic used to sell ads for primetime television. The CBS drama also tied “Scrubs” for second place among Adults 25-54 (1.0 rating), though “Marshals” had the edge among viewers in the demo (1.243 million vs. 1.215 million). His teammates, including Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means), must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Dutton includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) from the Broken Rock reservation. “Marshals” airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Mistake. I was writing stories simultaneously, and it slipped in. Have since corrected.- ARTICLE: BET Launches “T.G.I.G.” Programming Block Featuring Marathon Of ‘Beyond The Gates’ Season 1 Episodes
While the network initially aired a limited number of episodes of “Beyond the Gates” within weeks of the show’s premiere last year to help build interest, BET is formally making the daytime drama series a regular fixture in its lineup with a Thursday night programming block, dubbed “T.G.I.G,” which stands for “Thank Goodness It’s Gates,” featuring a marathon of episodes from Season 1. Filled with secrets, scandals, and all the moments fans can’t stop talking about, the weekly marathon kicks off on Thursday, March 5, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. CT, kicking off with the show’s first three episodes. The series premiere opened Daphnée Duplaix as Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson driving her expensive Black Mercedes-Maybach S-Class through Fairmont Crest as she makes her way to the Fairmont Country Club to meet her mother, Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and sister, Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) for breakfast. Licensed music featuring The Emotions’ classic song “Best of My Love” plays throughout the establishing scene. Following her arrival, Nicole can be seen exiting her vehicle, looking exquisite in her designer coat and matching skirt with a sleek black top. “Get ready to say, ‘Thank goodness for scandals, thank goodness for drama, and thank goodness for ‘Beyond the Gates,'” enthuses an announcer in a promo shared across the network’s social platforms, which also notes all-new episodes from the current second season of the series continue to air weekdays on CBS. Set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C. in one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States, “Beyond the Gates” follows an affluent Black family who holds court over Fairmont Crest, a posh gated community that’s the center of luxury with wealthy residents harboring deep secrets. The series was created by Emmy Award-winning writer Michele Val Jean, who also serves as showrunner, executive producer and head writer. Additional airings are scheduled for Friday mornings, beginning Friday, March 6, at 9:00 a.m. ET/8:00 a.m. CT. Despite rumors circulating that she might be exiting CBS News, particularly as her current contract was set to expire in May, veteran journalist Gayle King, who recently made a guest appearance on “Beyond the Gates,” playing herself, has signed a new deal with the network that will keep her as co-host of “CBS Mornings.” Though the specific terms of her new deal weren’t disclosed, King released a statement on Wednesday via The Wall Street Journal, saying, “Rumors of my demise were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated.” She added, “CBS News is my longtime home, and I am committed to our mission. I’m excited about continuing at ‘CBS Mornings.’ As always, I’m open to new adventures here and ready to go. It took a minute, but we got there. And now that we are here, I am all in.” Signing King comes at a crucial time for CBS News as it looks to pick up viewers, particularly for its morning and evening newscasts, which air against ABC and NBC. In recent months, King’s former “CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil was elevated to anchor the “CBS Evening News,” which has been lagging in third place for decades, and the loss of Anderson Cooper at “60 Minutes,” after the long-time correspondent declined an offer to renew his contract with the network. “There is only one Gayle King,” said CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss, who in October was tasked with overhauling the network’s news division in the hopes of increasing viewership across its linear and digital spaces. “We’re so proud that she’ll continue to call CBS home. We’re thrilled to have her on in the morning—and equally excited to work with her on new, enterprising projects that bring her talents to new audiences.” While King will remain co-host, changes at “CBS Mornings” are expected, according to CBS News President Tom Cibrowski. “Gayle and [co-host] Nate Burleson are fantastic partners on the show and morning TV is more vibrant than ever,” he said. “We are excited to continue to evolve ‘CBS Mornings’ and can’t wait for what’s to come.” On Thursday, it was announced that Shawna Thomas, who had been executive producer of the morning show since 2021 and had overseen the program through its evolution from “CBS This Morning” to its current moniker, will be exiting. “For five years, I’ve tried to make this show something you all want to watch. Want to be a part of. Want to learn from,” said Thomas in a note shared with staffers on Thursday and obtained by Variety, which first reported the news of Thomas’ exit. “I’ve had the privilege of helping to make 10 (now 12!) hours of television each week that goes out free to people everywhere. I’ve taken that responsibility of trying to inform, educate, entertain and make people care about the world around them very seriously and I know the people here do, too.” In a statement, Cibrowski called Thomas “a passionate journalist, especially when it comes to reporting and understanding our country’s very dynamic political arena. We will certainly miss her reasoned voice at our morning meeting.” As Thomas departs, Jon Tower will assume executive producer duties on an interim basis. Meanwhile, executives are reportedly exploring other ways to work with Thomas, whose expertise is deemed valuable to the network and is likely to keep her in some contributor capacity. Nikki Crawford is set to make her soap opera debut on the Friday, March 6 episode of “Days of our Lives,” playing Lexie Carver, the once thought-to-be-dead wife of Abe Carver (James Reynolds). The role was originated by Renee Jones, who appeared on the drama series from 1993 -2012. The presumed dead Lexie will be revealed to have been kept alive by Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) in his mystery lab, with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) set to give Abe’s current wife, Paulina (Jackée Harry), a shock when he brings her to the lab to reveal Lexie’s resurrection. In an interview with TV Insider, which first reported the news, Crawford told the outlet that when she auditioned for a role on the show last year, she wasn’t aware she’d be playing Lexie, only learning the details shortly after being cast. “They used another name just because she was such a beloved character,” said Crawford. “So, when I started doing my research, I thought, ‘Oh, well, maybe she’s coming on as Lexie’s sister,’ and it wasn’t until I got the role that they told me, ‘No, you’re the new Lexie Carver.’” While she’s not an avid soap opera viewer, Crawford notes she did her homework on the character before she began taping at the show’s Burbank-based studio. “I don’t watch soaps, but like with any role that I take on, I do extensive research,” she noted. “So, I watched the show. I delved into her backstory through Google searches. There’s so much information and so many websites dedicated to Lexie Carver, so I did a lot of that, and then when I got on set and started working, I started speaking to other actors, and the producers and the directors really filled me in on Lexie’s backstory, which was extremely helpful. The character had gone through so much and so I wanted to embody all of that when she comes back to life.” Although it’s unknown how long Crawford will remain in Salem as Lexie, she says she truly enjoyed working alongside her co-stars, including Reynolds, Harry, Tyler Joseph Andrews, who plays Theo Carver, Lexie and Abe’s son, and Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans). “I played it more like she was in a coma for these last 15 years,” noted Crawford of how she played her scenes. “I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is. I would say at her core, Lexie is driven by love. Her family is everything to her. And now that she’s been given a second chance at life, that raises the stakes.” Meanwhile, she reveals that Lexie’s reappearance will have a major impact on the folks in Salem. “Her return is going to shake things up, especially with Abe now being married to Paulina,” previews Crawford. “But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves. Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So, she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.” To find out more about Lexie’s return, read Crawford’s full TV Insider interview here. Crawford’s other television credits include appearances on “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “9-1-1,” “Elsbeth,” and, more recently, “Cruel Intentions” and “Tracker,” among others. Alice Halsey, who has portrayed Rachel Black on “Days of our Lives” since April 2025, is exiting the daytime drama series, with her final air date set for Thursday, March 5. “My final episode as Rachel Black airs this Thursday,” stated Halsey in a post published Tuesday, March 3, on Instagram. “After shooting 56 episodes of ‘Days of our Lives’ in nine months, it was not easy to say goodbye to my friends in the cast and crew who had become like family. I will be forever grateful for the privilege to play such a fascinating, complicated character and to be a part of this epic story.” Last fall, it was announced that Halsey had been cast as Laura Ingalls in the Netflix adaptation of “Little House on the Prairie,” which earlier this week received an early Season 2 renewal by the streamer ahead of its Season 1 premiere slated for July. At the time of her casting, Halsey said, “Love all of the Little House books so much, and I’m so excited and grateful to get to bring Laura to life! Thank you so much to the Little House creative team for putting your faith in me, and to my amazing team, Pamela Fisher at LBI and Domina Holbeck and Sloane Fitzgerald at CESD Talent Agency!” As for her time at the long-running daytime drama series, Halsey says, “Thank you to everyone at ‘DAYS’ – I miss you guys!! – and to all of the incredible fans for your support of my turn as Rachel Black!” Halsey’s goodbye message included several poignant behind-the-scenes photos featuring the actress and her co-stars, including on-screen grandmother Diedre Hall (Marlena Evans), and on-screen parents Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera) and Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), among others. “Miss you and I loved playing your mommy!” commented Haiduk. “I will miss you like bonkers! I will treasure being your tv Dad before your obvious ascent into superstardom. Love ya, Alice,” responded Martsolf. “Alice, you were so incredible on the show, and I’m so happy to have become friends with you!!” shared Cary Christopher, who himself also recently exited the soap opera as Thomas DiMera. “Can’t wait to see you shine on ‘Little House on the Prairie’!” In addition to her role on “Days of our Lives,” Halsey has also appeared in an episode of the NBC comedy “Night Court” and provided her voice for a role in the Disney Jr. original series “Kindergarten: The Musical.” Note: The post Final Air Date Set For Alice Halsey As Rachel Black On ‘Days Of Our Lives’ first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Just to follow up, I wanted to let you all know that I am working on a concept in my head and will later translate it into code. My hope is to have an alpha test up by the end of the week, and a potential beta test sometime later this month, with full implementation by April 1 (no April Fool's Day joke). That's the plan, but nothing is 100% set in stone.- B&B: March 2026 Spoilers
Thank you for clarifying, as I had been trying to figure out what was going on myself. Our software provider does have an update available, but nothing was mentioned about X/Twitter, which was concerning until I saw your post.- ARTICLE: ‘The Young And The Restless’ & ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Mark New Season Highs; Half-Hour Soap Ties ‘The Price Is Right’ To Rank No. 1 Among Women 18-49 – RATINGS
You’re right! I know the show has tied for #1 when rounding, but I don’t recall when it ever was #1 when using pure figures. When combining the average of the two half hours of Price is Right, B&B was indeed #1 outright. Amazing accomplishment. - BTG: March 2026 Discussion Thread
