Rumor(s) / Rumour(s)
Whether it's called "rumor(s)" or "rumour(s)," SON Community members are not to publish or engage in conversations about unverifiable or unfounded information, particularly when posted without a source. Posters are NOT sources. Saying, "I'm hearing," "I heard," or "I saw somewhere," etc, as examples, does not make something true or factual.

Cite Source(s)
When posting about what's going to happen on your favorite soap opera, including spoilers and casting, please cite your source. If published by an online outlet, link whenever possible. If a print publication, no matter how rare that has become, please indicate the publication and its publication date(s). Do not post scanned copies of the article; only summarize or quote a portion for emphasis.

Considering Abandoning Threads
The links provided about two Sisters threads is confusing. I see only one active Sisters thread, while there is a general thread for Primetime Soaps. One is specific to a show, while the other is a day part. Ditto for the Rich Man Poor Man example. One is specific to the show, and the other is a general topic. In my view, the show-specific threads for canceled shows are meant to discuss the show in depth with its fans. Meanwhile, ABC Daytime, NBC Daytime, CBS Daytime, Primetime Soaps, Classic Primetime Mini-Series, etc., type threads are specific to lineups or general conversations about genres that might also mention a specific show in that discussion. For instance, if someone is talking about NBC's decision to cancel Santa Barbara and replace it with another show, that could technically be specific to Santa Barbara, but the topic itself is beyond the show itself, because one is talking about NBC's decision and the show greenlit as the replacement. That's where NBC Daytime thread and Santa Barbara thread differ. Think of it like this, for nearly an entire year, we discussed all things Beyond the Gates from the time it was first announced as being in development, all the way through its first episode airing. That was a historic thread that still lives on in a new capacity, but as it stands, anything and everything related to the show is either limited to that thread, the monthly discussion thread or the monthly spoiler thread. Where can we discuss other aspects of the show where people can actively participate without having to search dozens, or even hundreds, of pages first? I personally can't read every single page of every single thread just to find where someone discussed something, and I can't expect others to do the same. (This is me rambling, not necessarily a direct and only response to @janea4old )

Considering Abandoning Threads
To elaborate further, the Beyond the Gates and General Hospital monthly threads have the highest post counts each month. That is amazing, and I am thrilled. However, if you want to discuss a particular episode from last week or earlier, sure, one can just go ahead and post a comment, but then it's unlikely to receive a response since others would be discussing more current episodes. Conversations therefore get lost and unorganized. Now, I understand that B&B and Y&R get the fewest posts in the discussion threads, and that's mostly because of the defined nature of who has registered and which shows they are watching. Clearly, we have less posters for some shows than others. That's another reason I'm contemplating change as it'll hopefully lead to people finding this space a good place to discuss the show they want to discuss. While the threads idea helps keep things organized, it also leads to confusion and missed opportunities for newcomers.

Considering Abandoning Threads
I'm not anticipating those types of posts appearing in a show-specific forum, and would certainly move such a topic to that forum for that purpose if necessary.

Considering Abandoning Threads
Correct. My apologies for any confusion caused by my initial post (I wrote it when I was barely awake). My proposal is to abandon the concept of threads for each soap currently still in production. Meaning, no more monthly spoiler and discussion threads for the current soaps, and instead create a show-specific forum, where people can talk about any topic they want about a particular show. Currently, the Discuss the Soaps forum is a cluttered mess, with monthly discussion threads for five shows pinned, plus another five pinned for a set period of time for the episode counts. This means that at any given time, 10 posts are pinned, and the potential to create or expand conversations on other topics is lost because no one reads beyond page one of said forum, since all conversations are stuck in a thread somewhere. For example, each week, Soapy has a new guest. Say you want to discuss the Susan Lucci episode, but the most recent comments are on the Peter Bergman episode since it was the most recently posted, your comment would appear out of date, or someone might have said the same thing earlier in the thread, but you didn't realize it because you didn't read an earlier post that was published pages earlier around the time the Susan Lucci episode was first released. Another example. The B&B website revamp. Had @dragonflies posted exclusively in the B&B history, pictures thread, many posters wouldn't have heard about the revamp. That's not to say the post couldn't also be mentioned in the B&B history, pictures thread, but I think the point is made. Using spoilers as another example. Tomorrow, the Luke Spencer dedication episode of General Hospital, which also honors Tony Geary, airs. The idea of the thread is that everything related to the special must be posted there. It doesn't always work because there are many aspects to it, including interviews with specific cast members, promos, and other media. The thread title wouldn't work for all that, especially if someone is looking for something specific related to the topic. Overall, I'm looking to find ways to drive more discussions, significantly increase readership/registrations, and ensure the longevity of the community as it celebrates its 25th year. As it stands, it's not worth investing in without making any changes, since the ads people complain about don't even pay $15 a day, yet the upkeep costs have grown by leaps and bounds. For instance, besides hosting, I have to pay a monthly subscription so that people can embed posts from social media platforms, pay for the ability to use GIFs in posts, and pay for maintenance outside of hosting, among other rising costs. To a certain extent, I think the Soap Central forums would be a good example of what I'm looking at. As for the other forums, if there is more than one thread for something like Sisters, that shouldn't happen, and it also means we need to clean up the other forums to make things more organized.

Considering Abandoning Threads
I'm looking for feedback from posters on the idea of abandoning threads as a requirement for discussions. Meaning, instead of being boxed into a specific thread to discuss any particular thing about each soap opera, including episodes of the soaps and spoilers, even going so far as creating a forum for each current soap opera where fans can discuss anything they want about the show. This is about growing the community and encouraging more discussions, which have been stifled by boxing conversations into the bubble of a single thread, where topics are forced to fit. This is not about expanding discussions about individual episodes. This is about giving people the freedom to say what they want without being limited to a single thread. Let me know your thoughts.

ARTICLE: ‘The Young And The Restless’ Alum Mckenna Grace Lands Lead Role In ‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action TV Series At Netflix
“The Young and the Restless” alum McKenna Grace has landed one of the lead roles in the live-action “Scooby-Doo” TV series set up at Netflix with an eight-episode order. Grace will portray Daphne Blake, the iconic redhead from the Mystery Inc. gang, who investigates ghost activity. The series will follow the crew from the moment they first met, Variety reports. “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder,” reads a logline for the series. “Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.” “Oh my jeepers,” commented Grace in an Instagram post highlighting her casting. “I can’t believe life is real. I could cry all over again just looking at this announcement. So thankful, SO excited.” Though Grace’s casting marks the first time she’ll take on the role of Daphne Blake in a live-action setting, it is actually her third time portraying the character overall, having previously voiced the character in the 2020 animated film “Scoob!” and its axed sequel, “Scoob! Holiday Haunt,” which was shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery in a costing cutting move. Soap fans will remember Grace for her portrayal as Faith Newman, the daughter of Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). She appeared on the soap opera off and on from 2013-2015, often splitting time in the role with Alyvia Alyn Lind, who played Faith from 2011-2013, and then 2014-2021. Reylynn Caster currently portrays the character. Since exiting the long-running drama series, Grace has gone on to make a name for herself in Hollywood, appearing in episodes of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Fuller House,” “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Designated Survivor” and “Young Sheldon,” among others. She’s also starred in several films, including “Gifted,” “I, Tonya,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and its sequel “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” More recently, she’s starred in the films “Regretting You” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” In 20021, Grace received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Esther Keyes on “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Grace can next be seen in “Scream 7,” bowing Friday, February 27, and featuring Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox reprising their roles as Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers, respectively. She’ll also star in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” scheduled for release on Friday, November 20. And this is why Casey was promoted to EP. Regardless of one's opinion of the show and its content, he's bringing the show into the future.

Y&R: Two former cast members return!
I hate how much Facebook has become such a cesspool with AI "news." Even the SON page has been called "fake" news because people can no longer trust anything posted there (Facebook, not the SON page), particularly the made-up stuff about soap stars (deaths, comings and goings, spoilers, etc.)

- ARTICLE: Shemar Moore & Vivica A. Fox Returning To ‘The Young And The Restless’ For Multi-Episode Story Arc
Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are returning to “The Young and the Restless” to reprise their roles as Malcolm Winters and Dr. Stephanie Simmons, respectively, for a multi-episode story arc set to air in April, CBS announced on Tuesday. The actors begin taping their first scenes today, Tuesday, February 17. According to the network, Malcolm and Stephanie, who had a romantic relationship on the show in 1995, are making a surprising return to Genoa City that will have shocking and lasting implications for its residents. This marks the fourth return for Moore since concluding his original 1994-2005 tenure as Malcolm Winters. He previously made special appearances in 2014, 2019, and more recently, 2023, which was in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary celebration, and saw the character take part in the hanging of a portrait of his late brother, Neil Winters (the late Kristoff St. John), which was unveiled as a tribute. Shemar Moore, Vivica A. Fox Winning eight NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal on the series, Moore has since starred in other CBS TV shows, including “Criminal Minds” and “S.W.A.T,” playing Derek Morgan and Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, respectively. He can next be seen in the new spin-off series, “S.W.A.T. Exiles,” from Sony Pictures Television, which continues the story of his “S.W.A.T.” character, a role he portrayed for eight seasons (2017-2025), and hails from the iconic S.W.A.T. IP that has spawned multiple series and films. Sony produced and is distributing the 10-episode series globally, though a release date has not been formally announced. Production recently wrapped in Los Angeles. Appearing in Genoa City from 1994-1995, Fox’s role on the soap opera came a few years after starring in the groundbreaking NBC daytime drama series “Generations,” where she worked opposite the late Kristoff St. John, who played Adam Marshall before he joined “The Young and the Restless” in 1991. Like St. John, Fox appeared on “Generations” from 1989-1991 as Maya Reubens, garnering critical acclaim for her portrayal. This marks Fox’s first time returning to “The Young and the Restless” since exiting in 1995. She’s since made a name for herself starring in numerous films and television projects, including “Independence Day,” “Batman & Robin,” “Soul Food,” “Kill Bill Vol. 1,” “1-800-Missing” and “Empire,” among others. In 2006, she won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal as FBI Agent Nicole Scott in “1-800-Missing.” Alongside Sterling K. Brown (“This is Us”), Mykelti Williamson, Janelle Monáe and Erika Alexander (“Living Single”), among others, Fox next stars in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios feature film “Is God Is,” set for release this May. She currently has her own fashion collection with HSN – The Vivica A. Fox Collection. Currently in its 53rd season, “The Young and the Restless” is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television. Josh Griffith is the executive producer and head writer. Sally McDonald is co-executive producer. Note: The post Shemar Moore & Vivica A.
