GH: Fan Fave Fired. Actress Blindsided
Unfortunately, because Jacqueline was not on contract but recurring status, a petition might not work. Without getting into it, which is no fault of hers, the show decided they no longer needed the character. Nothing can stop them from doing so, particularly for a short-term character when looking at Kelly's time on the show. Like Kelly, Jacqueline was also blindsided by the news of her exit. You'll note hers was even more abrupt. At least Kelly gets to film her exit if things don't change. I don't believe Albert Alarr had anything to do with a fan campaign. There's more to the situation than just fans launching a campaign that got him ousted. Meanwhile, the specific question was about change.org petitions. The Another World example doesn't apply because the website didn't exist then, and the internet in its infamy never had that much of an impact at the time Another World was still on the air.

ARTICLE: CBS Releases New Trailer For ‘Matlock’ Starring Kathy Bates, Reveals Character’s “Not That Innocent”
Get ready to watch Academy Award-winner Kathy Bates as she picks up the mantle left behind by the legendary Andy Griffith when CBS debuts its loosely based iteration of “Matlock” this fall. Airing Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the all-new adaptation follows Madeline (“Matty”) Matlock (Bates), a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. Although the series shares the same name as its predecessor, the show makes a point to note that the Matty character shares a familiar name with the original TV series, something that’s even brought up in the first episode. Highlighted by music featuring Britney Spears (“Oops!… I Did It Again”), a newly released promo gives potential viewers their first real look at how Bates’ “Matlock” differs from the original series, proclaiming that the character is not as innocent as she appears. In fact, after joining a prestigious law firm, it’s revealed that she might have ulterior motives for gaining employment at her age when she seeks out information on a case that has long plagued her. Ultimately, when it comes down to the work itself, Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Meanwhile, Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), who is the son of the head of the firm, finds himself intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. As the series continues, Matty endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world while working alongside the firm’s younger associates, including the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber-ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis). On Sunday, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, CBS with air a special sneak peek at the premiere episode of “Matlock,” followed by an encore airing on Thursday, October 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The series settles into its official timeslot with all-new episodes on Thursday, October 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Check out an all-new sneak peek at “Matlock” below. LATEST RATINGS: August 19-23, 2024
Oh, I don't doubt it was a rewrite. It's character assassination on steroids. RJ looks like a boy in a man's body who can't get it up, while Zende gets redeemed at the expense of Luna framing him for assaulting her and at the same time making her a murderer. It's so weird.

ARTICLE: How Will Sonny Get Out Of His Latest Bind On ‘General Hospital’? – PROMO
While there were several instances where “General Hospital” fans speculated that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) shooting John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) during last week Friday’s episode would turn out to be a dream, those ideas were dashed on Tuesday when the drama series released its weekly promo indicating the mobster would seek solace from his ex-wife, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), to help him get out of his latest bind. In the promo, the Port Charles Police Department are shown casing the scene at the Quartermaine mansion boat house where John’s body is discovered, with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) pointing out the deceased FBI agent was shot as Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) takes in what’s happening on his family’s property. At the main house, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) declares, “Agent Cates is dead, and everyone here is going to need to be questioned!” Those present at the time are Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), and Sonny and Carly, among others. Speaking of Sonny, he demands Carly help him cover his tracks when he tells her, “If anybody asks, we’ve been up here for the last half hour.” In response, Carly asks “Why?” We’ll soon find out if he reveals the truth, but knowing Carly, she’ll cover for him no matter what. He’s her ride-or-die after all, at least when Jason (Steve Burton) is not in the room. Elsewhere, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) is in for a surprise when he meets Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) face-to-face for the first time. Check out this week’s promo below. LATEST RATINGS: August 19-23, 2024
The show is number one in Women 18-49, which pays the bills. This is the second week in a row in which the show has outright beaten Y&R in the important demo, when not factoring rounding. That's a win for the show. Plus, a few weeks ago the show was pulling in 0.22s and 0.23s. It's now at a 0.27 (last week 0.28) while Y&R is only at a 0.26 (last week 0.25). It's not easy to beat your lead-in, but B&B has done it for the last two weeks, partially due to Danny and Christine, and Looney Luna.

ARTICLE: Adam J. Harrington Confirms ‘General Hospital’ Exit, Thanks Everyone For The “Honor”
Following last Friday’s dramatic conclusion of “General Hospital,” wherein an unarmed John Cates was shot twice at point blank range by mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), actor Adam J. Harrington recently took to social media to formally confirm his exit from the daytime drama series. “Well @GeneralHospital it was a BLAST, literally!” Harrington opened in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “To @valentinifrank, producers and writers. Thank you for the SHOT at joining your world. I loved it. To the phenomenal cast and crew. It was a honor to witness the CALIBER of your work. Now, seriously, I will miss you all.” In a separate post, Harrington thanked the fans for embracing him, saying, “To the @GeneralHospital viewers and fans. It’s been a honor being in your world, and feeling your passion.” He added, “To those who have written a goodbye, I’ve read every word and I’m deeply humbled. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Until we meet again … Adam.” Harrington’s posts come just a few days after he initially teased his exit from the show, saying, “Good night all…..” in another post on X (formerly Twitter) which accompanied a photo of a sunset. That post was published just over a half-hour after the episode of his character being shot aired in markets where the show airs at 3:00 p.m. ET (New York). Adam J. Harrington @adamjharrington/X (formerly Twitter) Although he has yet to announce what’s next in his career, days earlier the avid surfer shared that he was working “remotely” as he enjoyed some fun in the sun and the open water off the beaches of Costa Rica. Harrington first appeared in Port Charles on the Friday, February 2 episode of “General Hospital” when viewers were re-introduced to Jagger, now going by his first name, John, as he met Carly (Laura Wright) outside of the newly christened Bobbie’s eatery, which is named after Carly’s late mother, Bobbie Spencer (played by the late Jacklyn Zeman). Prior to Harrington’s portrayal, the John “Jagger” Cates character last appeared in Port Charles in 2008, albeit on the spinoff series “General Hospital: Night Shift,” with original portrayer Antonio Sabato Jr. returning. Sabato Jr. previously portrayed the character on the flagship series for two years, from 1992-1994, a time when the character was primarily known to friends and family simply as “Jagger.” In 2017, Harrington appeared in five episodes of the VH1 drama “Daytime Divas,” which chronicled the lives of five female co-hosts as they fought for power at a popular daytime talk show. The show starred Vanessa Williams (“Ugly Betty”). In 2023, Harrington received a BAFTA nomination for Performer in a Supporting Role for voicing the role of Sindri in the acclaimed video game “God of War Ragnarök.” To see how the fallout over the death of John Cates plays out on “General Hospital,” make sure to tune in weekdays on ABC or stream anytime on Hulu. ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Alum Sarah Joy Brown Prepares For “Most Difficult Public Conversation” On ‘State Of Mind’
Making her second appearance on the Maurice Benard-hosted “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” YouTube series/podcast, soap alum Sarah Joy Brown (“General Hospital,” “As The World Turns” et al.) is the scheduled guest for the Sunday, September 1 episode, which promises to be the “most difficult publication conversation” she’s ever had. According to an episode description, Sarah and Maurice reminisce about working together on “General Hospital,” with Brown admitting that she’s recently been re-watching scenes they shared from the time she played Carly Corinthos (1996-2001) on the daytime drama series. Additionally, they discuss relationships and Sarah shares her tricks for medication. Later, the conversation goes deeper when Sarah reveals the reason why she wanted to sit down again with Maurice on “State of Mind.” A trigger warning is being applied to the episode as it contains a description of sexual assault, something Brown has been vocal about in recent years. For anyone seeking help, visit Rainn.org or reach out to The National Sexual Assault Hotline, which is free and confidential 24/7. Call 800-656-HELP. The episode is set to release at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m PT on YouTube. “I’ll be on @mbstateofmind having the most difficult public conversation of my life,” shared Brown in a post on X (formerly Twitter) teasing her appearance. “Maurice was the most gracious host. Thoughtful and gentle with my heart. We worked together joyfully almost everyday for many years and we’ve stayed friends for close to 30 years. You’ll see why in this episode.” Brown made her first appearance on “State of Mind” on the January 1, 2023 episode. “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” is the only podcast series where fans can watch their favorite daytime stars, past and present, discuss important issues, particularly those relating to mental health. As explained by Benard, “[‘State of Mind’] means being 100% present, feeling completely at peace inside of you, not letting your thoughts control your life and always looking for ways to be the best that you can be.” Note: The post ‘General Hospital’ Alum Sarah Joy Brown Prepares For “Most Difficult Public Conversation” On ‘State Of Mind’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ To Rebroadcast Kristina’s Fall Out The Window On Labor Day
Fans enthralled by the drama happening between half-sisters Molly Lansing-Davis and Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kristen Vaganos and Kate Mansi) on “General Hospital” are in luck: the ABC daytime drama series will rebroadcast the August 1, 2024 episode (#15520) on Monday, September 2 (Labor Day) as a way help viewers who missed it keep up where things are heading next. In the episode, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is put on the spot while Molly confides in Sam (Kelly Monaco). Elsewhere, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) makes a pitch to Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) while Sonny (Maurice Benard) lashes out. Later, Kristina is on the warpath with Ava (Maura West) and by the end of the day, a disastrous accident will occur. Meanwhile, Trina (Tabyana Ali) gets an eyeful. In story, during a volatile confrontation between Ava Jerome and Kristina, the latter loses her standing and falls through the thinly made windows of a Metro Court Hotel room as several poolgoers watch in horror as she lands in the pool below. Although her fall into the chlorinated water ultimately saved her life, sadly it also led to the death of the unborn child she was carrying as a surrogate for Molly and Molly’s domestic partner T.J. Ashford (Tajh Bellow). ARTICLE: ‘The Gates’ Sets Writers’ Room
Earlier this week, “The Gates” creator Michele Val Jean created a stir on social media when she posted a minor update on the upcoming CBS daytime drama series she executive produces and serves as showrunner. “Today was a big day for #TheGates,” commented Val Jean in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Wish I could share more but I needed to at least mark it. If you know, you know.” Although Val Jean didn’t elaborate further on her post, and her message could be referring to something completely unrelated, Soap Opera Network has learned that in recent weeks the series has formally assembled its writers’ room which is likely to include some familiar names to the genre. In addition to a writers’ room, Soap Hub announced last month that veteran writer Robert Guza Jr. (“General Hospital,” “Santa Barbara”) and veteran producer Julie Hanan Carruthers have signed on as executive producers, working alongside executive producers Sheila Duckworth, Kimberly Doebereiner, Leon T. Russell, Derrick Johnson and the aforementioned Val Jean. Set to debut in January 2025 on CBS, “The Gates” is the first brand new soap opera in development for a broadcast network since the 1999 launch of NBC’s “Passions,” and the first expected to feature a predominantly Black cast since the 1991 conclusion of “Generations.” The series tells the story of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community. ARTICLE: Kristen Vaganos Upped To Contract Status At ‘General Hospital’
Less than a year since taking over the role of Molly Lansing-Davis on “General Hospital,” actress Kristen Vaganos has been upped to contract status at the ABC daytime drama series. Making her debut on the September 27, 2023 episode, Vaganos is the fourth adult actress to play the daughter of Alexis Davis and Ric Lansing (Nancy Lee Grahn and Rick Hearst), who, like her parents, is also a lawyer. Vaganos, a Philadelphia native, is the first actress to portray Molly on a contract basis since the character’s introduction in 2006. Initially, the character was born onscreen and was portrayed by two different sets of twin babies until 2008. By 2009, the show opted to age up the character with the hiring of Haley Pullos, who went on to receive a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal in 2015 in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category. In May 2023, it was announced that Pullos had been involved in a car accident caused by DUI. She last appeared in the role on May 24, 2023. Two actresses, Holiday Mia Kriegel and Brooke Anne Smith, later filled as the show assessed Pullos’ health and legal situation. By late September, Vaganos had taken over the role. During recent episodes, Vaganos has been praised for her powerful portrayal of a grieving mother who recently found out that her half-sister, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi), had been planning to seek sole custody of the baby she was carrying as a surrogate for Molly and Molly’s domestic partner T.J. Ashford (Tajh Bellow). Although Molly and T.J. had agreed to name their deceased daughter Irene Marie Davis-Ashford leading up to the child’s funeral service, Kristina later revealed that she would refer to the child as Adela, which is the name of Molly and Kristina’s deceased paternal grandmother, who Kristina herself was named after, albeit her middle name – Adela Corinthos was the mother of Kristina’s father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Molly’s father, Ric. Before joining “General Hospital,” Vaganos appeared in several film and television projects, most notably the TV movie “Obsessed with the Babysitter” and the mini-series “Dating After College.” According to the end credits shown during Friday, August 30 episode of “General Hospital,” Vaganos’ name appears ahead of Jonathan Jackson in the contract cast list. Jackson reprised his role as Lucky Spencer on the Friday, August 23 episode. ARTICLE: Return Date Set for Emma Samms On ‘General Hospital’
Beginning Wednesday, September 4, actress Emma Samms will once again reprise her iconic role as Holly Sutton on ABC’s “General Hospital,” the show announced on Friday. Although storyline details remain under wraps, Holly’s return to Port Charles is said to be tied in with the re-appearance of Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), who is currently being held captive inside a holding cell at a refugee camp. On Monday, August 19, Samms reported to the Prospect Studios set where the daytime drama tapes in Hollywood, revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that her dressing room was filled with flowers and gifts awaiting her upon arrival. Meanwhile, earlier this week, Samms shared a video of an experience she had while waiting at a stop light in Los Angeles. “I realise this makes me sound like a country bumpkin, but I spotted this little, Wall-E delivery guy bumbling along the streets of Los Angeles and I have questions..!” opined Samms on the social platform. “Does anyone know if they are moving around independently or is there someone, back at base, steering them?” Garnering more than 11,000 views, Samms’ post has since received numerous responses from fans, informing her of the autonomous vehicles that are used to provide food deliveries, among other uses, throughout the City of Angels. ARTICLE: Adam Harrington Exiting ‘General Hospital’
Following weeks of rumors, the Friday, August 30 episode saw what is likely the end of the road for actor Adam J. Harrington on ABC’s “General Hospital” after his character, John “Jagger” Cates, was killed off. During a face-off with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), John confronts the mobster, telling him he should turn himself in by confessing to his crimes. Unfortunately for the FBI agent, Sonny had the upper hand, informing John that he made a mistake by going after his family, something the coffee importer/exporter had warned him about previously. In the end, Sonny shoots two bullets into John as the rain pours down over them. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) after his final episode aired, Harrington seemingly addressed his exit, captioning the post, “Good night all……” The post was accompanied by a photograph of a sunset. Separately, in a post on his Instagram story timeline, Harrington re-shared a screengrab from the show by another user, adding a caption that said, “My only scene with Evan Hofer!!!” referring to his first time appearing in a scene opposite his co-star since first joining the soap opera seven months ago. Before joining the cast of “General Hospital,” Harrington had already made a name for himself in Hollywood and abroad, including appearances in such shows as “The Outer Limits,” “Queer as Folk,” “Dexter,” “The Secret Circle,” “The Mob Doctor,” “Drop Dead Diva,” “Bosch,” “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Palm Royale,” among numerous other credits. In 2023, Harrington received a BAFTA nomination for Performer in a Supporting Role for voicing the role of Sindri in the acclaimed video game “God of War Ragnarök.” Note: The post Adam Harrington Exiting ‘General Hospital’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. ARTICLE: Nikki Glaser To Host ‘The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards’ On CBS
Following her successful roast of Tom Brady earlier this year during Netflix’s highly watched special, “The Roast of Tom Brady,” comedian Nikki Glaser has been tapped by CBS to host “The 82nd Annual Golden Globes.” Scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025, LIVE from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/5:00-8:00 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+*, the Golden Globe Awards marks the official kick off of awards season. Often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” the Golden Globes is the biggest awards show in the world when it comes to celebrating the best in both film and television. Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment (WCE) are set to return as executive producers and showrunners, with Dick Clark Productions planning, hosting and producing the awards show that remains widely viewed across more than 185 countries and territories worldwide. “The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards” marks the second consecutive year in which the awards show will air on CBS after spending several decades at NBC. “The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards” averaged 10 million viewers (Nielsen Live+7-Day national ratings) on Sunday, January 7, 2024, up nearly +50% from last year’s average, making it the largest audience for the awards show since 2020. The telecast was also the third-largest live-streamed CBS special event on Paramount+ ever in terms of AMA and reach. “I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front-row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage),” said Glaser. “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so). It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).” Glaser continued, “Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy or Ricky have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue in that time-honored tradition (that might also get me canceled). This is truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty for every TV show and movie I’ve binged over the past year. It was all worth it. (‘Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’ season four will be nominated, right?).” “Nikki Glaser brings a fresh and unmatched candor to her comedy and to the Golden Globes,” said Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Penske Media Corporation. “Her unapologetic style made her an obvious and compelling choice as host for this year’s event. We’re hopeful this could be the first of many Golden Globes where Nikki will surprise and delight our CBS audience, as well as our audiences around the globe.” “Nikki Glaser is a comedic powerhouse whose daring and unfiltered humor is the perfect match for the Golden Globes,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “She is sure to bring a unique energy and spontaneity to the show that will keep the audience entertained all night.” “The Golden Globes has a rich history as a night for entertaining, provocative humor,” said George Cheeks, office of the CEO at Paramount Global and president and chief executive officer at CBS. “Nikki Glaser is a comedic force whose funny, bold and irreverent comedy will continue that legacy and further establish this special as a can’t-miss event on CBS.” Known for her razor-sharp wit and fearless humor, Glaser has already established herself as one of the funniest voices in comedy today. In 2022, she headlined her first critically acclaimed HBO comedy special, “Good Clean Filth,” while earning an Emmy nomination for this year’s “Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die,” which set the record for both the best premiere night for an HBO comedy special in more than two years and the largest streaming audience for a Comedy Special in HBO Max/Max history. In 2021, Glaser launched “The Nikki Glaser Podcast” for iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Podcast Network (BMP). She currently hosts and executive produces “Lovers and Liars,” a spinoff of the HBO Max and CW reality dating series “FBoy Island,” which Glaser hosted and executive produced for three seasons. Glaser recently wrapped her global ‘The Good Girl’ stand-up tour and is currently on her ‘Alive and Unwell’ tour across the country through May 2025. Entries for Motion Picture and Television submissions are due by Monday, November 4, with nominations set for Monday, December 9. *Note: Live and On Demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or On Demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs.
