  1. Celebrating his 10th anniversary as host of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” NBCUniversal announced on Thursday that the multi-hyphenated Jimmy Fallon will remain at the iconic franchise through at least 2028. “For nearly 30 years, Jimmy Fallon has brought laughter into the homes of millions and charmed audiences from the stages of 30 Rock,” said Mark Lazarus, Chairman, NBCUniversal Media Group. “It’s been a privilege to witness Jimmy at the helm of the ‘The Tonight Show’ and we’re thrilled to see what innovations he and the incredible staff will deliver in the years to come at the network.” “For nearly 30 years, I’ve brought laughter into the homes of millions and charmed audiences from the stages of 30 Rock,” said Fallon. “It’s been a privilege to be at the helm of the ‘The Tonight Show’ and I’m thrilled to see what innovations me and the incredible staff will deliver in the years to come at the network. No, I’m not changing my quote. Tell Mark to change his.” Fallon joined NBC in 1998 as a cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” where he quickly became a fan favorite with several noteworthy musical bits and sketches. After exiting “SNL” in 2004, Fallon returned to NBC in 2009 as host of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” By 2014, he would be named host of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” replacing Jay Leno. “Throughout his time at NBC on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ ‘Late Night’ and ‘The Tonight Show,’ Jimmy Fallon has demonstrated his extraordinary talent and been an integral part of our iconic comedy brand,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue our relationship with Jimmy and to see him carrying ‘The Tonight Show’ torch into the future.” Every season Fallon has hosted, “The Tonight Show” has ranked #1 (or tied for #1) in the key 18-49 demo. In addition, Fallon has expanded the show’s reach from TV to digital, with nearly 100 million total followers and subscribers across its platforms and more than 8 billion views in 2023 alone. With sketches, songs and celebrity guests, Fallon’s digital presence dominates the space compared to his contemporaries. Fallon is also an EP and panelist on the Emmy-nominated NBC fan-favorite “Password,” which is currently in its second season. “The Tonight Show” is the longest-running talk show on television and the #1 late-night program on digital. Taped in front of a live studio audience from Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” airs Mondays through Fridays from 11:35 p.m.-12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC and streams next day on Peacock. From Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Broadway Video, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Chris Miller and Gerard Bradford. Miller is the showrunner. Note: The post Jimmy Fallon to Remain Host of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ Through 2028 appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Read More

  3. With fans pondering who “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini was alluding to when he told ABC 7’s On the Red Carpet that a former male cast member would be returning to the show this summer, actor Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan Corinthos) on Wednesday decided to join in on the fun as his name had been tossed around as a potential returnee. In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Craig said, “Who could it be…….,” in response to a Soap Opera Digest story that included a photo of the actor alongside three other prominent former cast members who the outlet pondered could be returning. Shortly afterward, Craig responded to the story again, this time with a “thinking face” emoji. Craig’s combined tweets have since been seen more than 50,000 times, received more than 700 likes, and generated over 100 comments from fans, many positively. That said, Soap Opera Network has learned that the show has no current plans to revisit the Morgan Corinthos character or for Craig to return as a newly created character. The last time Craig triggered a response from fans about a possible return to the show was in September 2020, when he posted a since-deleted tweet, saying, “I’m ready to work and up for grabs so who’s it gonna be?” Craig’s tweet also tagged the official handles of all four soaps, which came as the dramas were in the midst of taping after a months-long shutdown during the pandemic era. Since exiting the role of Morgan Corinthos in 2016, Craig has gone on to star in such shows as “Valor,” “Grand Hotel,” and, more recently, “Good Trouble.” He appeared in an episode of “Walker” in 2021 and the film “That’s Amor” in 2022, a romantic comedy about a young woman who loses her job the same day she catches her boyfriend cheating on her. Craig played the cheating boyfriend. Riley Dandy, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi, Gregory Zarian (“Venice: The Series,” “General Hospital”) and Paul Witten also starred. So, with Craig not in the running for a return (for now), who do you think it could be? 4. Weeks after the tragic death of Johnny Wactor, “General Hospital” paid tribute to its fallen former cast member with an on-air title card shown at the conclusion of the Tuesday, June 11 episode — Wactor portrayed Brando Corbin on the daytime drama series from January 2020 through September 2022. “In Loving Memory of Johnny Wactor,” read the card, referencing the beloved 37-year-old actor who was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25 in downtown Los Angeles after three unidentified suspects were allegedly seen trying to steal a catalytic converter from his vehicle. Wactor and a colleague had just finished working a shift at a local bar when they discovered the theft. Initially, Wactor thought his vehicle was being towed, but he soon realized what was truly going on. “We cautiously approached the men, questioning what they were doing, at first thinking the car was being towed. We were no threat and Johnny kept his cool as he always did, simply stating that it was his car and for them to leave. Hands open to his sides in peace,” his colleague Anita Joy detailed in a post on Instagram about the tragedy. A march to Los Angeles City Hall has been organized by Wactor’s friends and family for Wednesday, June 12, with the hopes that it will raise awareness of the senseless killing as the Los Angeles Police Department has yet to identify any suspects responsible for the murder. For anyone able to attend the march, it will begin on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT at the corner of Hope and Pico in Downtown Los Angeles, the same location where Wactor was shot and killed. Attendees are asked to arrive between 9:30-9:45 a.m. Following a press conference with words from Johnny’s family, those gathered will march to Los Angeles City Hall, which is set to adjourn its meeting at 11:45 a.m. in memory of Johnny. At 12:00 p.m., a rally on the steps of City Hall will take place with the hope that the city’s mayor and council members will “hear us.” Johnny Wactor, Bonnie Burroughs ABC/Scott Kirkland/ABC “I would love to see you there,” said Bonnie Burroughs, who played Wactor’s former on-screen mother Gladys on “General Hospital,” in an Instagram post sharing the march’s message: “Johnny deserves justice. WE deserve a safe city.” For more on the #JusticeForJohnnyWactor movement, visit the official Instagram page approved by the Wactor family. A public memorial service will be held at Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville, South Carolina, on Saturday, June 15, reports FOX News. 5. As the show heads into the summer season, “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini recently revealed that a familiar face is heading back to Port Charles, and viewers are going to “go crazy for HIM.” Valentini’s comments stem from an interview with ABC 7’s On the Red Carpet on Friday night during “The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” as he was fresh off the stage from taking home the show’s fourth consecutive win for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. Although the show is keeping mum on who the likely returning cast member could be, social media is ablaze with wonder as fans clamor for the return of several favorites, including Bryan Craig as Morgan Corinthos, Jack Wagner as Frisco Jones, Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer, and even Roger Howarth as one of his many former characters. In addition to Valentini teasing, other upcoming plot twists fans can look forward to include wrapping up the FBI storyline and who might get romantically involved with Gio (Giovanni Mazza), among other storyline plots. In a separate post, Hilton shared the news with his thousands of followers, saying, “Surprise!!! @GeneralHospital !!! ACTING! Such an honor! 8. UPDATED: Former "General Hospital" co-head writer Dan O'Connor has joined the writing team of "Days of our Lives" as a scriptwriter. His first scripts will air at the end of January 2025.
  9. I also shocked Bryton James when I told him that Abby herself is also a sperm donor baby, so it's not surprising Devon and Abby did the same thing. Haha.
  10. Honestly, didn't realize he did read the site. Now his "two million" viewers comment in his acceptance speech makes more sense 😄. I have a bunch of other interviews, and I must warn people...I had no filter. I shocked myself. Hopefully, it will come off as more funny than rude. Rude wasn't the intent. Example: I told one DAYS star about the show filming eight million years in advance and asked another actor how their show thought it could make viewers believe their character could possibly become a victim of one particular character without making viewers laugh, among other things I said.
  11. Thanks! Elizabeth Korte is the woman. I can't place the other guy right now.
  12. UPDATE: As first reported by Soap Opera Network on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Dan O’Connor has joined the writing team of “Days of our Lives” as a scriptwriter. “I’ve been very fortunate that I joined the team at ‘Days of our Lives,’” O’Connor said to Soap Opera Network, fresh off the stage from winning his first-ever Daytime Emmy Award for his previous work as co-head writer at “General Hospital," working alongside Chris Van Etten. “I’m very excited to be a member of that team, and just happy to still be in this genre that I love so much,” continued O’Connor,” who noted, “I get to work with Ron [Carlivati, head writer], I get to work with Katie [Schock] and Jamey [Giddens]... I’m very, very excited.” Although O'Connor began working on the show in early May, a representative for the show confirms that his first scripts will not air until the end of January 2025. NATAS In 2019, O'Connor was named co-head writer of "General Hospital" following the retirement of former co-head writer Shelly Altman. He began his career interning for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and Marvel Comics and later worked as a writers’ assistant on “One Life to Live." While at the ABC soap, O’Connor worked with Carlivati before the latter transitioned to become head writer at "General Hospital" in 2012. O'Connor joined the "One Life to Live" writing staff during the show's final season and wrote the series finale episode. The Daytime Emmy win for "General Hospital" marked the first time the series has taken home the coveted statue for Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Drama Series in 15 years (since 2009). You can check out Soap Opera Network’s interview with Dan O’Connor below. In January, it was announced that O’Connor and Van Etten were being replaced by new co-head writers Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahey. Last month, Mulcahey suddenly exited "General Hospital," leaving Korte to become the show’s sole head writer. This marks the first time since at least 2015 that only one writer would oversee storylines for the ABC daytime drama series. The timing of Mulcahey’s exit came just as Van Etten returned to the writing team as a breakdown writer/scriptwriter. Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article did not have information on when scripts written by O’Connor for “Days of our Lives” would first stream on Peacock. The article has been updated to reflect O'Connor's first scripts will air at the end of January 2025. 17. More on The View vs. The Talk: Among demo viewers (more important than the rating by itself), during the week of May 27-31, 2024, The View had 124,000 viewers among Women 18-49, while The Talk had just 108,000. Both shows beat GMA3 and NBC News Daily and generally round out the bottom half of the 13 daytime broadcast shows. Meanwhile, in Women 25-54 viewers, The View had 163,000 viewers in the demo to The Talk with 162,000 viewers. Again, The Talk was canceled but costs a hell of a lot less than The View does in terms of talent cost.
