Today is the birthday of my favorite soap opera 'One Life to Live'. It was 38 years ago when OLTL signed on the air as a 30-minute ABC soap opera on July 15, 1968.

Here's to 38 wonderful years of life in Llanview, Pennsylvania...and 38 more!

Happy Birthday One Life to Live!

Also, happy birthday to Phil Carey, OLTL's Asa Buchanan, who turns 81 on this July 15th. And best of luck to Phil in his battle with lung cancer. We're pullin' for ya buddy!

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the show, happy birthday OLTL!

It always strikes me as weird how forgotten this show seems to be, not only does it seem like the black sheep of ABC Daytime, it seems like the black sheep of Daytime Televison in general. I was surprised to learn the first time the show won a Best Drama Emmy was in 2001 as well.

I know what you mean. It took OLTL 33 years to win it's first Best Drama Award. OLTL has long been considered the ugly, evil red-headed middle step child of ABC's three remaining soaps, behind first born GH, and the baby AMC.
