I was looking at Jason47 website and seen his list of characters born onscreen. Eve and Melanie births was revealed through a flashback on the show. So I was wondering if anyone knows when those births were supposed to take place? I know that there is a few retcons with characters births and the timeline (ie: EJ being born before Will when EJ is supposed to be younger). So maybe someone knows something.

When Eve was first introduced in 1987, she was 15.

For Melanie, I don't remember how old she was supposed to be.

With SORAS-ing, Idk.

But in the onscreen timeline, Eve was 14 years older than Andrew, and 18 years older than Theresa.

The most recent versions of Andrew and Theresa shown onscreen actually kind of match those ages. Andrew and Theresa haven't really been SORASed from their birthdates much.

Colton Little is 36 (b. 1989), and Andrew was born onscreen in 1986.

Jen Lilley (b. 1984) and Emily O'Brien (b. 1985) are both 41, and Theresa was born onscreen in 1990.

I don't think either actress looks markedly older than Little, and the characters are pretty close in age, so they're generally consistent with where they should be, despite everyone around them being aged in insane orders and magnitudes.

As for the two Eves:

Charlotte Ross (b. 1968) is 58, and Kassie DePaiva is 65 (b. 1961). So even Ross was older than Eve was supposed to be in the mid-to-late 80s -- not unusual for someone cast to play a high-schooler -- and DePaiva is older, but not wildly so tbh. But the nearly 30-year gap between KDP's Eve and CL's Andrew feels much bigger than it "should" be because they're both stretched on either end of the characters' ages.

As for Melanie, I might be remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure the show very pointedly set her conception and birth as being after Carly left Salem the first time. Carly hooked up with Daniel at a medical conference and Lawrence found out, and he forced Carly to put her up for adoption. Something like that. But Melanie's origin was post-Carly-and-Lawrence-getting-together. That would put her birth sometime in the mid-90s, but obviously she was older than that when she came on in 2008. (Interestingly, one of her love interests, Nathan Horton, was also born offscreen around the same time -- Lisa Trusel was pregnant when she did a guest appearance in 1996, and Days had Melissa be pregnant when she visited. Nathan was that baby. Then he was a doctor by 2009...)

Kassie DePaiva is a fine actress. but just isn't Eve to me, at all. If the show ever improves, I'd like to see Charlotte Ross again. I'd just prefer to see her under a better writing/production regime.
