I normally have no issues with Curtis, but this storyline about an accident they literally caused themselves is making him insufferable.

I have never cared for Curtis much yet I don't think I've ever seen the writing so slanted against him. He's always been a self righteous jerk, IMO, but never this bad. This entire story needs wrap up quickly because it's annoying time suck on the show. Although I am sure we won't find out the actual "culprit" until next year lol.

Digest spoke with Y&R stars who worked with the actor back in the day: Jerry Douglas (John) actually auditioned with Lester when he joined the cast in 1982. “He was incredibly popular in the ’80s,” recalls Douglas. “Terry had an edge, where he could play Jack as a heavy and get away with it. You just loved to hate him. He had the best role on the show. [Lester’s replacement] Peter[Bergman] has done a phenomenal job with the role, but his Jack is a different Jack. His Jack has a lot more heart. But that is Peter’s nature. Peter is a lovely, giving human being, and a lot of that came through in his Jack. He really transformed that character.”Douglas continues, “One of my favorite scenes was when John brought Jack into the boardroom after John discovered Jack had an affair with Jill [in 1986] and John said to him, ‘You’re out of the family! I don’t want to ever see you again!’ I was an emotional wreck as the character doing that scene, because Jerry Douglas could never do that. But it worked.”
Notes Jess Walton (Jill), who played Jack’s stepmother and former lover: “Even though we didn’t stay close after he left the show, I’ll never forget when I first got Jill [in 1987], I said to him, ‘I can’t grasp the essence of her.’ I had a million people telling me things and I had seen Brenda‘s [Dickson, ex-Jill] tapes, but I just couldn’t get the hook of who this character was. And Terry said to me, ‘You have to love being bad. You have to enjoy being bad.’ That was his Jack, and that was so helpful.”
Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) remembers: “I had become such good friends with Terry while he was on the show, and I spoke with his sister after I heard the news. He was a very talented actor, but his true genius was in music. He played wonderful piano and he sang. I think that was what he always wanted to do.”

Dallas Discussion Thread

I'm now almost done with the first season of the reboot in my re-watch. This is my first time watching the reboot since it originally aired. Before I jump into that, I must give them props on the final season of the OG series. It wasn't perfect but I thought JR had a very strong arc throughout the season and I loved that they acknowledged all of the loss and the impact that had on him. April's death was also interesting with Susan Lucci having the time of her life as a femme fatale. The only thing I didn't love is that Michelle and James didn't end up together. I don't think he needed an insta-family so late into the game.
Now onto the new series...I'm glad we got it and I was lucky enough to appear as an extra in two episodes but it makes me sad that it wasn't a better show.
The first thing I notice is just how weak the cast is. I really am not sure what they were thinking but they could've easily recast all of the new characters. The first really strong casting choice is when Mitch Pileggi showed up. Another thing I recently learned is that Victoria Principal was open to returning but the cast nixed the idea. One simple thing that could've improved the show is if they had gotten her back so Pam and Bobby could be the heads of the family.
What really let them down the most is the writing. Cynthia Cidre was open about not watching much of the series and it was obvious watching the show. I do recall the show getting better with time but I felt like that was more desperation to keep the show on the air. In this first season the scenes are ridiculously short and it feels like they're constantly jumping to the next plot twist. There is no substance or depth to anything they do.
The biggest positives are obviously the OGs. Sue Ellen in particular works really well after not feeling necessary in the later seasons and two tv movies. Seeing Cliff again was another delight and I do love that they didn't forget his connection to Christopher. I wish I could say the same about Christopher's connection to John Ross and Sue Ellen. Feels so odd when John Ross says he isn't family when we know that is Sue Ellen's nephew by blood.
Despite the issues, this reboot is still watchable. With Taylor Sheridan filling their niche we probably will never see Dallas revived. I guess it could've been worse.

Eurovision Song Contest 2026

For a country so vested in the funding of Eurovision, you would think the UK would send something more appealing. I will say that I did actually enjoy UK's entry last year even though it didn't seem to be a favorite.
Usually I walk away with a few favorites or at least a few tunes in my head, but this year did not hit like previous ones.

NEW YORK. April 4—Recently the top executives of CBS radio programs wanted to find out how their daily 3-hour daytime women's serials were going. Also they asked who was writing them. So they tiptoed into the w r I t e r s lounge to see what was what. To their astonishment they found that all the writers were men! Eight men writing women's happiness-and-heartthrob programs! Those sometimes belittled soap operas that make the loudest, most golden clunk in the CBS cash register — was it safe to leave this lucrative channel to women's emotions to the literarv devices of men? Quickly they put the statistical department to counting how many women listen to these everyday 15 - minute serials. Came the correct count: 20,548.000 listeners. Who could quarrel with such figures or question such male talent,
Why must it be men who engross that many women's minds after the kids get off to school, or while making the baby's formula, preparing the vegetables or dusting furniture and making beds? It seems women prefer the masculine point of view in their daily radio serials. Upon further research it turns out that eight men write seven of the longest-lived daytime dramas. Theirs are among CBS' best paid, most coveted and steadiest radio writing jobs. The men are not worried about writinq deathless prose. They merely want big salaries and lasting employment. Several of their serials are more than 20 years old and still very popular. Let any one of the programs be two minutes late and you can hear the listeners* squawks all along the network.
LUCKY EIGHT—Here are the lucky eight: Frank Provo and John Pickard jointly author "Wendy Warren and the News." Milton Lewis turns out "This Is Nora Drake." The stock in trade of these masculine writers adds up to sympathy, joy, suffering, regret,frustration, ambition, anguish, revenge, hope, disappointment and love on every level. Their writing contracts call for a minimum pay of $300 a week for writing five 15-minute programs. None of these eight can even remember when he was being paid as little as $300 a week.
