Before she went psycho, I never felt there was any real motivation for her to do the things that she had done. All it would've taken was some better plotting. Leaving the baby at the firehouse was a good example. I didn't have a problem with Sophia doing that, but I felt there needed to be a better reason why she chose to do that.

I do wonder if they had a stronger idea of who Sofia was that it would help Boyd's acting. As @carolineg noted, she was decent in the birthing scenes but that was likely down to her researching herself what someone would do/act in a situation like that. But outside of that, Sofia's never really had strong motivations for doing the things she does. Some actors can just run with an unmotivated psycho arc I guess and camp it up.

Congratulations Alex... I think.

Baby Kelsey's existence still feels a little unnecessary to me, but I'm interested in seeing what Stephanie's going to do now. She, and whatever actions she may take are the most interesting part of this storyline, for me. As hot as Alex looked today lol she needs another guy besides him, even if it ends being just temporary. Speaking of the best example of "another guy", it'll always be ridiculous that Jeremy was written out. I'm curious to see what Joy is going to do now that he's gone. But I liked that Julie comforted Stephanie over Jeremy, and everything that she's been going through lately. That was actually a nice surprise.

I appreciated the fact that everything surrounding Sophia was still included today, but didn't dominate the episode. Tate, Holly and Ari absorbing the news about her was a good scene, even though Leo Howard's acting was a little.... ehhhh. He still has trouble with highly emotional scenes and drama. Ashley Puzemis did a really good job though. But I'm still not too sure about nuAri. I don't think she's a bad actress but... Idk.

I also enjoyed Philip and Gabi. Despite John Paul's facial expressions, I thought he did a good job today too. And he also looked hot lol. Philip cautioning Gabi about interfering in Ari's life and her relationship with Liam could lead to something interesting happening. I hope she doesn't listen to him. Tying all these storylines together could be really good. And, Days actually remembered Tyler! I liked that they used that part of Philip's history in order for him and Gabi to further discuss how to be a parent. Maybe we'll finally be seeing him somewhere down the line. Btw, the lighting looked different in their scenes today

It's starting to make me wonder what Ron's plan was for her, or if it were any different than this.

I wonder if Ron even had long term plans for Tate, Holly, and Sophia. I know that sounds strange, but they lost Madelyn Keintz and Jamie Martin Mann within months of hiring them and Ashley Puzemis was gone for a really long time while Holly was in a coma. Maybe the original story was supposed to wrap up quickly and for whatever reason they decided to keep them all for longer. Perhaps Doug 3 was meant to play a larger role in the whole thing?

They did lose OG Ari within a few months too so I am not sure what Days is doing with its younger cast. Marissa Reyes/Ari basically was just Holly's sidekick her entire run lol.

Amy slamming Holly. Ughhh . No wonder where the crazy comes from

I am not a Sophia fan, but Holly and Ari did say nasty things about her on instagram or twitter, wherever and a bunch of others joined in. Sophia was actually cyber bullied even if it was from her own making.

I don't think Amy is being unreasonably looking at it from the outside when her child is presumed dead.

I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ron also had Sophia going psycho lol but I would’ve liked for her to remain sane, mostly so that Tate could have an alternative to Holly, and so we’d get a full on teen triangle/quad/mess. And Doug 3 and his drama should’ve been furthered tied to it as well.

Rachel Boyd actually showed some life when she and Doug 3 had their encounter in the Square

I feel similar. I think Doug 3 was supposed to be another cog in the Holly/Tate angst wheel, but when the actor was dumped Sophia had to basically take all the villain angle on, so she did everything instead. I assume the original thought was for everything to be slightly more balanced.
