On an unrelated note: Laura Wright and JPS do have real chemistry and are working real hard in these recent scenes, I will give them that.* They've had some legitimately good scenes together the last couple weeks, performed very well. But I just will never like or care about Valentin, he's too much of a creep. Maybe if he played somebody else who cried less. Also, it's insane how down bad he already is for her after they fúcked once. It's giving FV desperate to make sure nothing endangers Valentin for another 5 years.

(*LW also had excellent scenes with Chris McKenna a week or two ago, maybe their best in the history of that entire forgettable relationship, when she was basically goading him to tell her the truth about Joss and he had to leave. They were doing a lot of it with just their eyes and delivery and they were both very very good.)

I unfortunately in the scenes still just see Valentin, the most dangerous Cassadine, being a wimpy creep.

I totally agree. But I do think the actors have chemistry and are working hard. I just can never get behind it. Valentin is so gross.

Jesus, I love your post.

Van Hansis was SO over-the-top that I was laughing out loud. That could not have been any worse 😂🤣😂 And sorry, the "grief comes in waves" reasoning doesn't work for me, at least not in this case. My Lord.

I mean, I don't want him replaced either, but yeah it had to be said 😂

The facial expressions also aren't helping.

Van, Van, Van… you’ll always be special to me but goddamn 😂😂

Oh, you.

Like I said he's at least half alive unlike, say, Mo lol.

Very. Say what you want about Van's Lucas...and I have...but you can't say that he doesn't engage with the material.

Yeah, Val and Carly are just mute to me...chemistry or not. Because it's clear what is going on there. But...Frank's gotta Frank. And I was like Carly when he's already setting dinner for two after ONE shag. Uh...NOPE.

On the OTHER hand, since it was mentioned...I honestly did like the scene with Carly and Brennan. Though I was barely paying attention, I did pick up on the layers going on. But was that because of the actors doing that or the writing? Hmmm

I really liked Carnes and thought Van wasn't great at first, but I have come around. Van makes Lucas seem much more alive and fun than Carnes did although Carnes would have probably been better today lol. Again, Van isn't anywhere near my list of people that GH should get rid of.

Speaking of people to get rid of, Kai might get taken down by Willow after today. That would put Trina in the Maxie range of dead boyfriends though.

Same. And you know I love Carnes. But I do like having Lucas on the canvas and doing so much. He deserves to be there. So much so more than others like Jacinta.

Awww poor Trina. That said...he's been long

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: CVE is LOUSY at naming characters. Like, the worst.

He's also bad at humor, adult conversations, etc, but let me shut up.

To anyone who is surprised by Van Hansis' acting style: have you ever heard of a little show called AS THE WORLD TURNS?

Hehe. I have. Long may Luke and Noah live!

I think the writing mishandled Lucas when Carnes was in the role.

Very.

As I mentioned in another post, it’s nice to have a Lucas that actually has a pulse. And they’ve done a great job building his connections with both Carly and Ava which I don’t remember being the case when I used to watch.

That's because it was not there before. I'm sure he was more Liz adjacent with the occasional scene with Carly to remind us they were related. So it's nice he has scenes with them...and they are remembering Liz, too.

I do buy grief comes in waves, but that was more a tsunami than a wave lol. Van is fine as Lucas to me. He just very hit or miss in the acting department. His style doesn't really fit the more "low key" GH acting.

Laura is not a great mayor, but I am more curious as to why Kevin is dragging a toddler Ace around the world. That seems inconvenient.

Love Van as Lucas. His acting style is quite similar to his time on ATWT (a la' New York soap acting style) which may be a bit different for GH typical acting style.

I don't mind Laura being mayor but her dealing with Ezra makes me ill. I wish the writers would breakup Laura and Kevin, let her find a new soul mate.

I'm not surprised, I've noticed significant acting styles between the New York based soap actors who are very dramatic, very facial oriented and overly emotional in their roles while Los Angeles based soap actors are very laid back, not so overly emotional and slow. I haven't figured out the Atlanta based soap actors but do see some of the NY style (Cady, Tamarie, Karla) and the LA style (Jon, Clifton, Jordi, Greg)....

Ryan Paevey is not an actor. He is a hard-muscled hot guy on TV. He would be better suited on OnlyFans.

Needs a haircut, he's too hot to have his hairstyle like Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four.

I'm not imagining the Erica Kirk parallels with Willow? Willow sure came along way from the basket case she was when I last watched back in the Fall. I like it.

I agree.

Think Carly may get preggy? They may start a storyline of "Who's the Daddy?" between Valentin and Jack. 😆

Kai and Trina have been incredibly dumbed down the last few shows. To have them misspeak in front of Willow several times, and then just casually talk about her in her office and have her overhear is so lame.

For a show full of twists, I'd prefer to see them go with that it is the real Nathan forced to go deep undercover to bring down all the bad guys. I think this would be a better choice for the actor's skill set and place on canvas.

The writers need to write to the actor's strengths more. When they have them go out of their wheelhouse, it ain't happening. Case in point is Sidwell. His histrionics were hilariously bad. His reaction should have been something the actor could play.

I don't mind Laura as a mayor in theory. It keeps her in the heart of the action. The execution of her role as Mayor makes her look weak and incompetent, which I don't think is the intention.

I also agree about her and Kevin. It's a non-romance. There is no story there because JL is busy doing other things. Frankly, I am not sure JL/Kevin can appear long enough to even give them a proper breakup lol.
