Some details... the fistfight happened 12/12/91, on the day that the episode aired 1/15/92 was being filmed.

In PB's dressing room, PB and EB had to be pried apart by crew members. They each filed separate police reports.

SOD reported that auditions were held to replace EB?? It's very hard to imagine that EB would be replaced over PB.

After the holiday break, EB and PB both reported for work on 1/6/92. They had "kissed and made up". They had to post-film scenes for many eps that both of them originally missed due to the aftermath of the skirmish.

William J. Bell was NOT happy. He hauled both of them into his office (one at a time) and reamed them out. Saying in no uncertain terms, that if this happens again they would be terminated. Bell really read both Braeden and Bergman the riot act. Braeden took it very seriously, as he had nothing but utmost respect for Bell.

Wow! That's wild, thanks for the details! I'm glad they were able to eventually work through it and stay co-workers for decades after.

I'm shocked to hear the news about Kate Mulgrew and her RH co-stars. I love Kate from Star Trek: Voyager (never watched RH), and I've met her before - she was very sweet to me and called me a handsome man (haha). I just refuse to believe she was hated by so many people P

I didn't watch AMC in the 90's, but there were rumors of Sydney Penny and Keith Hamilton Cobb despising each other.

Oh wow, I didn't know this... I hope it's not true! They were such a great supercouple in the 90s with such a fairytale wedding. If they really despised each other, it thankfully never came across on screen.

You have to remember she was VERY young, and TPTB really adored her. If you're working with someone so clearly favored by your bosses, you're not going to like that person very much.

She was also going through a bad juncture in her life--she was unmarried and pregnant (she gave her daughter up for adoption). She writes about that in her memoir. She had to play being pregnant and then deal with scenes playing with a baby after she had given her own baby up.

She expected to be fired but Claire Labine said no, and they swore the whole set to secrecy. But of course, it got out eventually.

If she had been anyone else, she likely would have been fired. Again, the favoritism probably did not endear her to the rest of the cast.

Ahhh that makes sense. I need to buy her memoir and read it. I'm happy she wrote about RH and her soap history. I hope it includes a lot of Voyager stuff.

I think Susan Flannery might have something to say about that.

Wasn't she gone by then? I don't remember if she was still on the show when they introduced Rogers.

I hate to disappoint you, but she does not talk much about either RH (except what happened around her pregnancy) OR Voyager. It's not that kind of memoir where she gives away juicy bits about the shows/movies/plays she did.

It's more about her rather eccentric family and her search for her daughter. And the difficulty of being an actor, and later being a successful one while raising children.

Not to hijack the thread, but I've been thinking about a long-term screen duo that I don't believe had any drama, Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson. I wonder if it helped that as the years went on, they knew they could let anything out every couple of years when it was time for Alan and Monica to have another epic fight.

Jane Elliot described the original Quartermaines as all being great. I think she said not a bad egg in the bunch. All lovely, all funny and hardworking and good actors.

And it made sense for them to evolve to a better and healthier place, much much further down the road.

I was a kid for their earlier stories, but I did remember stuff like Monica/Sean Donnelly, and Alan/Lucy, and their bickering. So I found the cancer storyline especially poignant because of how much Alan loved Monica and they played his partnership with her so well during that story. It felt earned.

I mean, I have seen Deidre's ex husband so not sure why these ladies are fighting over him.

To quote Tamar Braxton: "He must have a ding-a-ling of gold."

IIRC, Joan Rivers even make a crack about Victoria Principal and/or her lawsuit during her interview with Donna Mills; and Donna's like, "Oh no, don't get me in trouble here," lol.

Days of our Lives

Starring

Suzanne Rogers

as

Maggie Horton

Dee gets the "and DEIDRE HALL as Dr. Marlena Evans Black," though. Not even Susan Lucci got that on AMC.

That's what I miss most about Bill Bell: his inability to be intimidated by anyone who behaved unprofessionally or who tried to pull rank on his show. (He also famously told Jess Walton to "say the line" after she protested). We know there was backstage drama aplenty at Y&R, but at the end of the day, it was Mr. Bell's show, PERIOD.

I'm afraid it is. Keith Hamilton Cobb has even talked in the past about how much he hated pretending to be in love with Sydney Penny/Julia in scenes and about how that affected him as a gay man.
