Second Chances lasted for a good portion of a season. The sets being damaged by the earthquake seemed to doom it.

I made the edit that it was 10 episodes. I was looking at multiple series and mixed up episode counts.

I'll be blunt: Cynthia Cidre might be a terrific writer, but she had no business being part of "Dallas." She knew nothing or next to nothing about the original series, or even how a serialized drama like "Dallas" operates, and she didn't care.

LOL I just read this and laughed out loud, only because I’ve never seen Cidre do anything decent in whatever career she had. Having an interesting background just didn’t translate to her writing. After Dallas she had the disastrous show Blood & Oil (or Boring & Odious as I remember calling it lol) where she was dismissed after like the first 2 episodes and replaced with other writers and producers. Of course the show was cancelled after a few months on the air as ratings dropped fast and I don’t believe Cidre has ever worked again in the TV business since.

To make this relevant, Blood & Oil was a big comeback miss for Don Johnson, especially since ABC had hyped the show up along with him as the star.

100% - Reba plays Reba, and we love her for it, with each show having a very similar tone. She's extremely likeable and confident, so it's an easy sell.

Definitely agreed! I will say I was pleasantly surprised a few years ago when Reba took on a more antagonistic/devious role on Big Sky during that show’s final season and absolutely sold the role.

Have we brought up Gregory Harrison yet and him being a one hit wonder?

He first was the star of the Logan’s Run TV adaption but it flopped.

Then obviously his biggest (and only?) hit and role was in Trapper John MD.

After that, it seems like he just had a lengthy series of misses.

We all know about a failed 1989 pilot which lead for his role on Falcon Crest’s final season, but after FC ended he was immediately given a new sitcom The Family Man. It failed miserably and was cancelled after one season.

Then CBS again with New York News and as we mentioned in the 90’s ratings thread it also flopped badly.

A thankless brief role on Sisters.

Then in 1999 he had a cute little family drama on The WB with Rue McClanahan as his mother called Safe Harbor. Interesting premised and I watched but it too quickly failed.

After that seems like Harrison was only doing cable movies like the Au Pair series or the First Daughter/First Target/First Shot trilogy on TBS. He had a couple recurring gigs on One Tree Hill and Chesapeake Shores later on but nothing substantial. I didn’t see too many kind words about GH run here at SON lol and seems like he’s back doing Hallmark movies.

Under better circumstances - namely, better writing - Gregory Harrison would've been a fantastic addition to the show. He certainly sparked with Jane Elliot; it's just a shame that it happened during his final weeks on the show, when his fate was sealed already, and most of the audience were past giving a damn.
