I’m up to April 12, 1999. Danny takes his sister, who we learn is named Pilar, to see Carmen and she’s scared at first. Carmen is happy to see her, but says she shouldn’t have come back home and needs to go back overseas to school. Pilar says she needs to stay home now, and missed out on saying goodbye to Mick and everything else going on with the family. Carmen privately scolds Danny about Pilar being back in town and says she’ll never allow Pilar to end up like she is nor know what their family business is all about. Pilar later joins them at the table and proclaims she’s not going back to Europe, she’s staying there in SF and will be part of their family. Long story short, Drew pours her heart out to Jesse, saying she’s been in love with him. He says he can’t deny that he’s frustrated with the Michelle situation and has enjoyed his time with Drew throughout it. She says the day he can be in the same room with both her and Michelle and he only looks at her (Drew), will be the day she believes they can be together. He grabs her face and says he’s looking at her now, just as Michelle walks in and she asks what’s going on. Jesse says he’s moving out and Drew says he’s made his decision. Michelle questions why they’re not getting along and Drew finally just says she’s in love with him and they can’t be sharing a loft anymore. Michelle and Jesse talk alone and realize things feel different because they’re different people now and they need to take time to figure out if they even want to be together anymore. She hugs Jesse goodbye and leaves, while Drew throws Jesse’s bags out and says he needs to leave. Downstairs, Michelle calls her father (Ed) and asks to stay with him overseas for a bit. Pilar then walks up and introduces herself as Danny’s sister, which surprises Michelle, but clearly makes her happy knowing it’s not a girlfriend. Danny then walks up and Michelle tells him she’s leaving to be with her dad and doesn’t know when she’ll be back. Selena/Buzz’s plan is in motion where Buzz hires an old Vietnam buddy of his (they named “Ron”) to pretend to be an old friend of this lady that “is Drew’s mother”. They tell Drew that her name was Dorothy Nickerson and she passed away. They come up with some back story about this lady growing up rough and how Drew was actually taken away (she wasn’t given up), which broke her mom’s heart. She cleaned up her act and became a social worker helping people, which Drew thinks was admirable and now Drew thinks her mother was a good person. Before “Ron” leaves, he tells Drew that her mother is buried right there in SF, which makes Drew happy. As he leaves, Jesse is watching and stops Ron/Buzz/Selena and says he recognizes him as Buzz’s old friend that sold him a freezer for the diner and he put on a good performance there. Jesse and Selena argue a bit and her purse falls to the ground, with Drew’s baby picture falling out. Jesse sees it and realizes Selena is Drew’s real mother and calls her on it, just as Drew walks up asking what’s going on. She tells Jesse to butt out and mind his business and Selena reinforces to everyone that this is a happy ending. Later, Selena tells Jesse he better never say anything to Drew, but he says he isn’t sure he can do that. Drew goes to this lady’s gravesite and starts crying and screaming at her, saying she wants to hate her, but she can’t and she just wishes she could have known her. Jesse then shows up and tells her he can’t stop thinking about her and they hug. Cassie tries to tell Blake that she needs to stop obsessing over Ben. Later, Ben shows up at Blake’s and he flirts and they have sex yet again. She snaps out of it afterwards and is upset with herself for doing it, but Ben then shocks her by telling her he’s leaving her for good. He tells her she’ll always feel guilty being with him, she’s embarrassed by him and won’t celebrate their relationships with her friends, and she’ll never accept that he’ll defend bad people in court. So, since she’s not strong enough to leave him, he’s going to do it for her and he walks out the door. The next day, Ben is planning to have Carmen over to his hotel suite for dinner. Blake shows up to continue their conversation from before and sees the lavish table with flowers and champagne and lashes out. They argue, he won’t tell her who he’s meeting other than it being a prominent citizen for a business date, and he makes her leave. Blake secretly watches Carmen, dressed to the nines, walk out of the elevator and head to Ben’s room. Carmen and Ben toast their champagne and Blake storms in, saying it doesn’t look like business and infers Carmen is a hooker. Oh Blake, you’re playing with fire here haha. Carmen is icy and rude to Blake and Ben finally introduces her as the matriarch of the Santos family, which Blake questions him as to why he’d get involved with the mob. Blake eventually leaves and Carmen tells Ben she will not be doing business with him until he cuts ties with Blake. Ben says he will not be put on a leash and Carmen then leaves, leaving it open to whether they will really work together or not. Vanessa is at the police station ready to give up information on Dinah and Cassie arrives. Cassie tells Vanessa privately that if she can promise her that Dinah will never show back up and hurt her family, then she’ll agree to not bother Vanessa again nor will she have to tell Frank the truth. But without saying anything back, a cool Vanessa walks over to Frank and tells him Dinah is in Lucerne at the nunnery and that’s all she knows. Moments later, Frank comes back and says there is a major problem, Dinah is no longer at the nunnery. Vanessa acts shocked, but Cassie freaks out and says this means Dinah still plans to come back and terrorize her. Vanessa is privately concerned and wants to go find Dinah and make sure she’s ok, but Matt tries to convince her that she’ll be ok and they need to move on. I guess I’m confused because a week or so ago Vanessa told Matt this was the plan all along, but I guess the head nun Vanessa knows says she isn’t sure where Dinah is now because she ran away. Vanessa goes against Matt’s wishes and books a flight to Switzerland, which surprises Matt and Frank. Matt says she’s not going alone, he’s going with her, which makes Vanessa happy. Cassie goes back home to the farm, calls Reva and tells her what happened, and then gets another call where the other person hangs up without saying anything. She locks all her doors and windows and is nervous. Reva shows up and gives Cassie a pep talk, telling her what their mother Sarah would do, and Cassie finally says she won’t live in fear anymore. Matt/Vanessa arrive at the nunnery in Lucerne and the head nun tells them that Dinah really did disappear without a trace and they don’t know where she is, which concerns Vanessa. The nun gives Vanessa a letter that Dinah wrote her which says she knew Vanessa would eventually have to go to the police, so she went to a different religious order and that’s all she can say. She writes that while this is all hard, she knows what she did was wrong and she deserves this, and to let Cassie know she will never harm her and she’s working to be a better person. She ends the letter saying she loves both Vanessa and Ross so very much. We then see a different nun, in an unknown location, telling a shadowed figure of Dinah that she’s taking a pledge for life by becoming a nun (wow!). Vanessa calls Ross to tell him, who is on a boring date with India. After Ross hangs up with Vanessa, he and India kiss for the first time. India leaves to put on comfortable clothes and the door rings, so Ross answers and it’s Blake, coming out of her confrontation with Ben/Carmen. Blake hugs Ross, saying she needs him tonight, but he says this isn’t a good time and asks her to leave. Blake then says she doesn’t believe that and he wants her there, but he keeps saying no, and she then takes her top off and tries to kiss him just as India walks out in her sexy nightgown, shocking Blake. Ross scolds Blake and reminds her that they’re over. Blake says she still loves him and she knows he does too. India then calls Ben to come get her woman off Ross. Ben arrives and takes Blake home, where they argue, but then Ben grabs her into a kiss and says they’re two of a kind and she kisses back. She spends the night as they have sex, meanwhile, Ross and India seemingly have sex off-screen to end their night. Beth and Vicky have lunch and talk about their current crushes - Jim and David. David then walks in, wearing a police uniform, which shocks Vicky. He sits down with them and says he was serious about being a cop and talked to Frank and now he’s a cop. That’s wild he can become a cop overnight, but back in 1995 we see Frank going through months of police academy haha. Anyway, Vicky thinks he’s wasting his talents, but she’ll accept whatever makes him happy and David kisses her. Meanwhile, at the same time, Jim is with Cassie telling her how excited he is about dating Beth, which she encourages. They go to Millennium and run into Beth, and Beth/Jim then flirt and plan their next date. Phillip shows up at Josh/Reva’s house angry, confronting Josh about hiring Jim. They all argue back and forth and Josh finally says he’s quitting, they’ll all sell their shares and build another new Lewis Oil. They finally agree that they’ll continue on and Josh will keep an eye on Jim, but we later hear Josh tell Reva that he was bluffing all along. Phillip later goes to Harley to vent about it, saying that Susan learned her scheming ways from Jim, which Susan overhears from the staircase. She runs downstairs and screams at him to be quiet. He tries to apologize, but she screams out that she hates him, just as Jim/Beth walk through the door. Jim lashes out at Phillip and tells the adults that he’s planning to move away with Susan to get her away from Phillip. Beth pulls Phillip aside and lashes out at him for taking her happiness away again while Harley begs Jim not to run away and to put Susan first. A random young pregnant girl runs into the hospital and Annie helps her. She starts going into labor, but the girl keeps yelling she doesn’t want the baby. Rick helps her deliver the baby and Annie starts loving on it while the mother is asleep. Annie contemplates taking the baby home since the mother doesn’t seem to want it, but once the girl wakes up, she changes her tune and realizes it’s a precious thing, which sours Annie.
