It’s like a cut to commercial scene on classic Bill Bell Y&R, but without the lush music, immaculate staging, impeccable style, old Hollywood glamour and actual good writing. I used to look at her work and ask who the hell is she looking at?

Hahahahhaha

I don't think current day Laura is used properly.

AT ALL.

Again, if Britt played the whole return like she had a terrible secret that she can't bear to tell anyone I could buy it.   Even some Days of our lives inner monologue thought about how no one would respect me anymore because it's so awful.  But KT plays it like I am back.  Where's Brad with my party?

LOL not you comparing it to DAYS while I'm writing about things I've noticed that are reminding me of DAYS

But I agree. I loved how she was set up on the island and the reunion with Jason. But since she's been back in PC...yeeeah, I am feeling that. And it has started to annoy even me.

My worry...knowing that she knows that man is NOT Nathan...that will be the writers' attempt to redeem her from their lack of writing and the lack of nuance in the acting.

Rather than...giving us that DAYS monologue. ;)

And it feels as if Jordan's role of Deputy Mayor has been of more prominence and importance than Layor as Mayor.

Because she does now. Jordan's cheaper (even though she can't act and has no personality) and Frank clearly doesn't want to use Genie or Laura's family much.

A few years ago we were all marveling at how central Genie/Laura was as mayor - it was like everyone in town ran every decision through Madame Mayor, lol. I was really pleased with that period for her, even if I didn't like most of the show's stories or direction. She was integral. That changed dramatically in the last year-plus. She's barely there, and her kids were shunted to the side almost immediately after being brought back with major stars. Instead it's the Britt, Nathan, Obrecht, BLQ, etc. show.

To me, there is just a sadness that it all ended the way it did.  Tracy gets the main perspective on Luke, Laura has an off screen marriage and spends time holding Sonny's hand, and it feels like the pairing has been wiped out.

I hate it and I've never gotten over it. I don't think it's right and I think it should be tended to, even if Tony won't appear again. (And you can do it without trashing Tracy's love for Luke too.) But I've laid out my ideas on this too many times, lol.

What's weird is you have her fanbase convinced they are doing that with her. And I think there is an element of it onscreen at times, sure, like when she gets the notes in her room from her evil boss or whoever (probably Evil Nathan, who may now have amnesia idk) and then lashes out at others. Britt is clearly putting up some of a front about what she's gotten herself into. But again, a) KT is very weak at playing any of those layers and b) do you really need to do all that just to 'protect people?' Rage about Rocco to his mother for no reason (oh, she's 'protecting Rocco' who she's barely seen in 10+ years?) and shriek nonstop about your free room and board?

Too bad mostly generic ass GH doesn’t write with anything close to this specificity.

THIS.

There have been a couple of moments when KT has played a slight note of being afraid of something. She just needs to do more of it. And writing her as a spoiled brat isn’t working. I could handle sarcastic, an edge, but that would need to be tempered with some vulnerability. Fear about the big bad, actual longing for Jason, something. I think she also could use a dose of seeming slightly calculating instead of everything annoying her and just happening to her.

And everyone saying Nathan has been having sinister looks, where? If that’s what he is supposed to be doing it’s not coming through for me.

Both Laura and Trina became an afterthought after Spencer died. Her mother passed away in early 2024, so I kind of understood the limited appearances that spring and summer.  But unless she requested a lighter load, she should be knee deep in the Sidwell/Sonny story and having fun fighting with Ezra and Drew. Not to mention everything with Lucky. He came back tied directly to Sidwell. The fact that he barely had anything to do with that once Sidwell arrived in PC, barely spoke to Isaiah again, and had limited interactions with his close friend and partner Dante tells a clear story. And for that matter, Dante should be all up in the Drew story, enough that he could even be considered a suspect after how Drew has acted with Sam’s kids!

I personally think the momentum has slowed down, and the all in on the Obrect/Faison family return is not as compelling as what was happening with Drew before he was shot. Michael circling this particular hooker ain’t it either. I also think the Ronnie thing, while lovely to see Erika again, is also killing momentum with something we know is already over as far as filming goes! The one thing they had going for them was the pace was fast and the twists were fun.

I would say look at the scenes involving James. Moreso those with Britt making excuses for James not being around him.

I agree. I know @carolineg and I discussed that this go-around with Britt/Jason is not at all as mature as their first go-around. They are writing her as a spoiled brat and yes, it is not working. Give her sarcastic edge. Moments of vulnerability. Yes, longing for Jason. All things KT can do and did the first time around IMHO. I even felt she did have a look of fear about something...and those are getting either far and between (some scenes with 'Nathan' have been the most recent and while I don't feel it's Nathan).

Exactly!!! She's the MAYOR. All of what you mentioned is something she should be involved in. Outside of that one scene during the start of Monica's death on that Friday, she's been surprisingly hands off...though that probably is because of GF's annual vaca so I understand, but still... And yes to the Lucky/Sidwell angle...something else they could have used more of in Lucky's return. Not to mention to establish Isaiah even more. It DEFINITELY says something when we are sitting here dealing with the return of characters that ARE NOT a premier family...even if the current team or Frank want to think them so. And I am sad to say that I didn't even think about Dante being a person of interest in Drew being shot. Silly me!

Hmmm. It's interesting you say it that way. I was just on the BTG thread talking about shifts because I feel they are gearing up for November Sweeps. Uh...GH...?? I haven't watched this past week yet, but I probably would agree as well. One of the things that I've been liking regularly watching again has been that the writers have been shifting here and there, but even when they shifted to something...the writers have already managed to not lose their momentum. I didn't like how they started the Monica's Passing Week, but I did like how they pivoted the other stories around it the following week where the first week they distracted from what should have been the focus aka Monica and used the side stories to compliment it better. That said...I would say since Britt's return, the writers do seem to be trying to lean into their annoying writing tics again, but have managed so far to always pull back enough to not bother me, but I have noticed. It's part of the reason I saw red during the Monica's Passing Week. However, I do feel that Britt's continued brattiness, Nathan's return and its clear anvils, and my hatred for Placeholder Hooker Number 2 is a sign they are about to jump off the annoying writing tics cliff. Cuz some of the interesting developments with the momentum definitely are feeling lost.

I mean, we can insert a joke about Paevey's acting here, but I think he's acting the same?  I remember Nathan and some of his stories, although the character and the actor never made an impression on me.  If he's going for sinister, I am not getting that either.

I have doubts he can play a scary villain.  This is probably where Maxie being involved would help.  She would notice the difference perhaps.

I never thought bringing Nathan back was necessary under any circumstances, but I am especially bummed for Spinelli.  I really like Spixie and all the years he helped raised James will be wiped away because his "real" father is back.

With Storms out and BA's minimal appearances Spinelli will probably get two days of perspective about this and we won't seem him for months lol.

Yeah. I don't see RP playing scary villain either. But a story about him coming back just as Maxie has found second happiness with her other popular pairing is the thing of good soap. They should stick with that. But the anvils are too clear.

Were Nathan and Maxie even that popular?  I remember liking it fine but not being terribly invested.  I have no idea what fans on other platforms think lol.

I swear some strange characters have large fanbases that I don't understand at all.

Again, Nathan and Chase are the same person to me so what do I know?
