Nobody wants saints... We just don't want a disturbed crazed maniac who makes deepfakes, stalks girls and almost murders them... to be part of the show's first gay male couple. It just sends a message IMO.

Especially in this current political and societal climate. This just doesn't sit right with me.

Yeah Brad has a tendency to go too far with a character *coughSheilaLunacough* and then backtracks when it finally sinks in that the backlash hasn't gone away so he changes course

This is the show with serial killers and serial rapists as romantic leads, so maybe it's intended as an honor.

I presume Remy's psycho behavior will be blamed on his needing to hide his sexuality because he was afraid of what his family/friends would think of him. Trope. Trope. Trope. This is B&B!

Marco on GH is a bad Guy so I don't care about one of them being a villain.gay character's don't have to be Saint's

Marco's sexuality is secondary to his career and family connection, at least that's how I see GH telling his story. I prefer it that way as who you have sex with should not define you. B&B, however, is starting the story off with Remy all of a sudden being gay, with no indication of this in the nearly one year he's been there. At least if we got a story beat from him during his stalking/attempted murder of Electra phase, this twist/casting would make more sense.

Exactly. The context is very important.

Maybe I'm just being too sensitive... But seeing how our community has been portrayed lately... it just rubs me the wrong way. We should be way pass this. It's 2025. I mean come on. The only gay guy also happens to be mentally ill stalker? Seriously Bell?

Bradley would totally do that!

I do wonder if they’re feeling a bit of heat re: BTG. Martin, Smitty, Chelsea and her robo-doctor are all frontburner there and Martin and Smitty just had a love scene yesterday.

I'm not sure they are getting enough attention to cause a shakeup at B&B, but I would be glad if that's the case. I was going to say Y&R might get involved too but I guess they count Mariah and Tessa.

Mariah and Tessa have been a snoozefest.

Well to be fair, we have discussed that BTG has lit some fires. It was not even out, but all the shows beefed up their black presences on their shows. And when it started on air with some sense of a story, most (well GH and DAYS) stepped up their writing game. And while CBS has been at work on cultivating a daytime soap lineup with a promo here and there, BTG is still the better written of the three, crossovers happening on the show. People can't help, but look at their other soaps (B&B and Y&R) and see if they are slowly getting the memo to do something to catch the attention. Well attention for something good happening on their respective shows.

But how they've written the POC/Asian characters has been horrible: Carter: blah. Poppy: Groomer, drug and sex addict, Luna:psycho rapist. Li: Under the bus for the psycho's. Daphne rejected for a bland white woman etc etc

Oh, I picked on them. I didn't include B&B or Y&R when I said other shows upped their writing game. ;) I said of the 3 CBS soaps...regardless of ratings...BTG is the better of the 3. I feel with this news (and post killing off legacy characters on Y&R and the trains heard around the world) that someone over there is slllllowwwly noticing. Just because they got the memo does not at all mean they understood the memo. :) What that will lead to is too early to tell.

B&B isn't competition obviously, and still has a very loyal audience. But I do think they are now in a position where every other soap has LGBT characters and BTG has a unique audience (though I don't know if it has a gay following), so in these leaner ratings times they may be willing to try more to draw some of it for themselves.
