You don't think this was all about protecting his behind?

Bill's always talked fondly about Martin growing up. Martin has been the one to have animosity towards him (and rightfully so bc of Dani) but Bill dosnt have ill will against him

Exactly.  Bill offers to be Martin's attorney so that Bill can claim attorney-client privilege. This allows Bill to avoid discussing anything about himself in Martin's situation.

Bill didnt offer up his services. Vernon went to him. He roped him back up into this

Just as we saw in the flashbacks with Dani, things were not always bad with Bill. He had good times with all of them as well before sht hit the fan

Finally.

Great cliffhanger!  Will Martin go through with the press conference anyhow?  I hope so.

Tune in tomorrow!!!

I'm team Martin all the way with this.  He's no deadbeat. He's standing up for the truth, finally.  Throwing off the micromanaging of Vernon at last!

People are more critical here but I find in other areas that the show seems to have more support. It's always trending on twitter these days and people seem to be enjoying what they're seeing.

I can speak only for myself, but my complaints and criticisms about BTG are not an indication of any dissatisfaction with the show. I enjoy watching it a great deal.

If someone told me I could watch only 2 soaps, BTG would be one of them.

There's a community here discussing the show in great detail, and that's interesting and fun. For the most part, we don't do it for the other soaps on the regular. That means I regularly bullet point negatives and positives that I wouldn't spend time on with another soap.

Cheers to Marcel Don't Miss Malone

So the lady in the other line that Naomi called said June was her sister ? Very interested in Hayley, Tyrell, and Samantha will be a part of this equation

Wouldn't Naomi have Hayley's number in her phone? If she were to put that number in than Hayley's name would come up.

When Bill approached Martin in the diner and offered to be his attorney, I thought it was Bill's idea.  I'll have to rewatch later to see if Vernon suggested it.

This is all so layered, sometimes I miss aspects on the first watch.

And when did Martin regain full recollection of the secret that he is able to hold a press conference about it.

And yes to whoever said the press conference at Orphey's was a weird move.

I was pondering Martin's situation and missed some of that phonecall!  Will rewatch later, I want to see/hear the phonecall.

I think that was understood by Vernon going to Bill. What would his role be in this if not as a lawyer? From what we've seen, they dont have any other lawyer assisting with this. Given the nature of whats happened, Bill is apparently they only one they trust to assist in this cover up and ultimately keep Martin out of jail

I dont think he ever forgot. He's talked around hte issue but he's had multiple conversations with Bill and Vernon, not to mention being blackmailed by Kenny so he knows what he did and what happened.

Thank you Marcel!

  • Well, bye-bye, Kenny... right? Or is it a staged image to buy them some more time? Because I didn't see a speck of blood in that dead grass area!

Interesting. I didn't think of that, but it makes sense.   Bill did say he had a plan and was stalling to give it time to happen.  Maybe that's the plan -- did Marcel text a faked photo to Bill so that Bill could show it to Martin, to stop the press conference?  hmmmmm.

I am going to be honest, but respectfully, this whole secret seems to be building up to be a let down. I will take some blame for it, because when it was stated that a showrunner said no one has been able to guess the secret so far on social media, I made it out to be something more complex and layered.

I assumed early on that the secret was an accident or self-defense that led to someone's death. I think most of us figured that out. While we don't know Kenny's motive yet - racism and social status seem to be triggers. Unless Kenny's motive is some big shocker or there is another element we don't know - than I think we pretty much know all the major details of this secret. Now that Kenny is potentially dead, what else can we possible learn about this secret from that end?

Also, does Joey have any stake on this secret coming out or not? Vernon said that they can get Joey out of this plan if necessary. So does he care or not?

So Bill was hired as the fixer after Martin acted in self defense. The cops were paid off by someone to keep this quiet. But why would Joey have paid Malone?

So we will have a press conference for Martin to tell us what we already know. I really hope this is more layered than this. Otherwise, this is lame.

Also, why cut the Kenny and Smitty interaction short. I was hoping that Kenny might have spilled something more to Smitty that would have added another layer to this secret, but then he told his kids he doesn't know anything.

I am hoping I am very wrong, but this would be dumb if this build up and all these men involved gave us this.

I really hope Martin's secret is revealed tomorrow and if it is, that it's actually good. Because otherwise a lot of people are going to be extremely annoyed and maybe even tune out. Although I wish Martin would've just told Smitty the truth beforehand, if he's really going to go through with the press conference, then he needs to finish what he started.

On the other hand though, if Martin ends up losing his Congressman seat and his political career is in tatters, what else is he going to do for an alternative career? I hope the writers have a plan for that even if he somehow manages to avoid jail time.

But hadn't he mentioned to Vernon not fully knowing what his dream was about?

The BTG camera did show that Kenny had arrived just outside of Orphey Genes -- Kenny could be seen through the Orphey Gene's window blinds with a gun pointed at him -- it was onscreen for only a second, but it was shown.  Assuming the person holding the gun was Marcel or someone working for Marcel, who caught Kenny as he arrived.

So did Marcel kill Kenny or just fake the death?  I would think Marcel would want Kenny dead so as to keep Marcel's involvement secret -- so that Marcel can retire with full pension.  But I don't know.
