Jason Graham, Jon Lindstrom, Beyond the Gates

Although “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” will air original episodes as per usual on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26), “Beyond the Gates” will instead air a repeat, the show’s first.

At press time, details on which of the 59 episodes aired thus far that will be broadcast on the holiday was unknown. Of course, the decision to air an encore at all comes just weeks after the show recovered from UEFA Champions League preemptions and breaking news coverage on Pope Leo XIV‘s ascension.

From a ratings perspective, during the week of May 12-16, 2025, the most recent week in which daytime broadcast ratings are available and the first full week without preemptions, interruptions or breakouts, “Beyond the Gates” hit a multi-week high among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.32 rating), and a six-week high among Total Viewers (1.572 million), according to Live+Same Day figures released by Nielsen.

Renewed for a second season, the daytime drama series ranks a solid No. 1 opposite time slot competitor “General Hospital” among Women 25-54, leading the long-running series by 7% in the key sales demographic. Additionally, the show is an improvement over former time slot occupant “The Talk,” gaining +48% among Total Viewers according to Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings compared to the same period last season.

Check out a promo of what to expect next week on “Beyond the Gates” below.

That sucks if the other CBS shows are new. Maybe they struck a deal like the unions did with ABC daytime to air less episodes overall per year.

I'm sure it will be Ted and Nicole's anniversary party, even though they recast Ted.

Could it be a way to get the schedule back on track? The preemptions meant Fri cliffhangers were airing on other days, right?

Or has that already been adjusted?

No; by this upcoming Friday, May 30, it'll be episode 63. I'm assuming the sports-related pre-emptions were known ahead of time.

Y&R is new on Monday; I think it's a time slot thing, because GH is not new on Monday (and airs at the same time as BTG).

A few contract renewals ago, CBS required originals for B&B and Y&R on certain major holidays instead of airing repeats. This includes Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, among other major holidays not infused with sports coverage.

It's unclear why the network is airing a repeat of BTG on Monday. I'm looking into it.

Praying they can amend the contract by either this forthcoming Labor Day, or 2026 for BTG to be included in this.

Seems like a missed opportunity for BTG (and GH to a lessor extent because it's been on for 60 years....). Sure, it's likely the holiday numbers will be lower, but they forfeit the chance for regular viewers to introduce the show to their 9-5 relatives or friends who might like it and set their DVR or stream it afterwards.
