There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.

-- I agree that the vibes are there, but I can also make the case that it's a pale imitation.

That Neil Winters Lounge is already a pretty classy place, but the decor make it look tackier. Those Happy Birthday signs are tragic in design and color. The tablecloths look like they've been chosen by Helen Keller.

Where is Claire? We hear stupid reasons for her lateness, but we all know it's because this show is too cheap to pay for too many actors in any one episode. It makes NO sense that Victoria has that toast to Nikki without Claire's presence.

And where is Cole? Off coughing somewhere?

-- The rest of the show was watching people open their black invitations from Alexander Dumas -- for a party on June 13...TWO WEEKS AWAY.

So we got through the entire sweeps and still no Dumas? The big sweeps reveal is a party in France in 2 weeks???

Why anyone thinks this is good soap is beyond me.

My system went down, but thankfully is back up. It's a shame that if I missed something, I just don't care. So May Sleeps indeed. smh.

That said...I found this episode intriguing. Yeah, it had a LOT of the characters that I didn't care about. And I know @slick jones probably glared seeing his man around that girl,

but I will give credit where it's due.

It must be a sign there is about to FINALLY be story movement when we start to get artistic camera angles again...something that has been absent for a while. The overhead sweeping into the scene at the start of the episode? LOVE. Good to see Ed Scott is still around somewhere. And I loved what Phyllis had on and Amanda in the red. Claire continued to have her own style and Holden continued to look hot. And I continue to be in awe that the designer is trying her darnest to get Kyle from looking so stuffy but still keep him suited.

Everything Audra continued to intrigue. And I continue to feel that Kyle is totally going to fall into her trap because he is much too cocky. Holden is a great wild card, but I don't like him hinting that perhaps Audra actually have feelings for Kyle. THAT boat has sailed and would have been better used when Summer was around. Besides I love Audra with Nate.

Phyllis vs Sally will always be awesome. And they were both giving great lines.

I could care less for Billy.

Mixed bag! lol.

In the designer department I can feel JM rolling his eyes at being in anything related to a suit, but she did go for comfort with Nick. And I felt it worked. And I liked what Nikki had on. And what Lily had on was something different for her, but she looked great in purple just as Amanda looked superb in white.

I could care less about the 'drama' between Adam and Chelesa. It's not even Chelesa's first time dealing with Victor's controlling ways. So my finger found the FF buttons quick.

Victor and Michael on the outs. Same ole, same ole. Not bored with it, but same ole. They could use Michael and Lauren for so much more. And Michael must have quit in one of those episodes I missed.

The highlight was easily Lily vs Phyllis. I don't know who wrote that, but THANK YOU. Lily was feeling her mama, and I loved every minute of that moment. I was just sad that the Dumas plot...and Amanda's role in it this episode...was clear C plot.

justin Jackson Y&R hairdresser posted on Insta that for Nikki's birtday do he envisioned Marilyn Monroe/rockstar.

What on God's Green Earth do those 2 concepts have to do with one another?

and how are they appropriate for a society grandmother in her late 60's?

Her dress had nothing to do with that concept.

And the rest of the guests all looked pretty horrible. Why was Nick in a sweater at a formal party?

I initially read this as Marilyn Manson and did a double take.

Thanks for the screen grabs. The outfits are horrible. Somehow Victoria's Miss Piggy dress is the best. Ashley looks like a French madam bent on revenge, and Abby looks like she hot glued lace scraps to her garbage bag.

I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.

    • Wow. Sometimes you say the perfect thing & at the best time! Take a bow.
    • How much longer are Sharon and Tracy actually going to be around? I really hope we find out what Anita's secret is especially if they're going to be gone soon. I'm going to be really annoyed if we wait months on end to find out what it is. We still don't know what Martin's secret is even though it's been nearly 6 months. I can't help but think that maybe Anita might've had a hand in sabotaging or even destroying some people's reputations and careers, as Sharon had alluded to. Whatever her secret is, I don't think it's necessary murder, but it has to be really bad enough that Anita's terrified of it coming out and ruining her life. Maybe she got involved in some serious scandal that could've ruined her career but she somehow managed to keep it under wraps.  Also, are we ever going to get back to the corrupt partner storyline with Jacob or has that been officially dropped? I totally forgot about that until now. I won't be surprised if TPTB decided to drop it at some point.

The only humor I found was the ongoing snipping between Hope and Ciara.  After the heck that Hope put Julie through as an adolescent, it seems like justice has been served that there is rarely a moment of peace between this mother and daughter. I take back everything I thought about faux-John in the bed.  Marlena needed someone in the room today for that to work.  It would have been odd if she was alone in her bedroom, or he was dead in the bed next to her.  It is a powerful thing to say that her life didn't really begin until she found John.  We know she loved Don and Roman, but this was special and unique. I always wonder how writers choose a name for a character.  Here's Marlena: No wonder her sister Samantha went insane, she knew Marlena was the one her parents wished for. To distract from the story, I started wondering how often Hope and Marlena were on the show at the same time.? I know they shared stories, but it seems like Hope ascended during Marlena's absence, and Marlena re-appeared while Hope was not in Salem.  I also wondered how many more episodes Marlena appeared with John, than Don or Roman? Her on-screen marriage to Roman was relatively short.  But, there were a lot of breaks from the show during her marriage to John.  And she and Don were together for at least a few years.
    • It's an equal mix of feeling tortured and superior being a day ahead. Ya'll are getting a pretty good one tomorrow. It puts some things into perspective.
    • I'm sure, with it being warmer in Atlanta, they'll utilise the Assembly grounds more (they've already shown cast on set being outside).
    • I never thought Days would be the soap that I look forward to each day and have it take me on an emotional roller coaster.   Proving that good writing will bring fans back.
    • You made some valid points about Dani. Her human side is what I am the most interested in learning about her. I wanna get to know Danielle...
    • I found an update of my favorite lil Phillip from '91-93! Played by twins Scott and Shaun Markley. Neither bio mentions their stint on YR

https://cbulancers.com/sports/mens-volleyball/roster/scott-markley/457 https://nicholaslaw.org/shaun-markley/ Interestingly, AFAIK they were never listed in the cast credits. I guess it was always considered an under-5 role.  Courtland Mead was credited in '93, I guess he had more dialogue.
