It's for sure meeting, more likely exceeding its guarantees at the moment. No way CBS guaranteed more than 80% of Y&R's demos.

I sampled for 2 weeks or so (saw the wedding etc.) and followed the comments closely to see what people were saying for maybe a month. Pretty much just interested in its ratings now.

I've never understood this logic.  I don't mean to call out this poster, just using it as an example, but since when did popularity correlate with good content?

The Minecraft Movie has been number one for two weeks in a row.  Does that mean people with good taste are seeking out The Minecraft Movie?  Does that mean The Minecraft Movie has unique characters from a diverse background tackling today's adult issues?  Of course, not.

We are all fully aware that ratings are not a measure of either popularity or quality.  They measure the probability that the audience being advertised to is watching the show.  That's it.  Brawny Paper Towels doesn't care how many people are watching online, or talking about it on social media, or how many men above 50 are watching the show.  That's how advertisers choose to spend their money, and luckily, advertising dollars are only one revenue stream that a production can use to make money.

So, ratings aren't meant to measure the entire audience, just those that advertisers want to buy paper towels.

If we're concerned that BTG will get cancelled due to low ratings, that seems unlikely given that it is produced, in part, by one of its main ad buyers.  And, if you are concerned that BTG isn't being sampled by a certain audience, this data will not answer that query.

Maybe instead of having to lie to ourselves or gaslight anyone, some of us just disagreed with you. Not that we have to justify ourselves to anyone who already acknowledged they couldn't even finish the second episode of the first week, two months ago.

And frankly, the social media chatter and investment is much less critical of the show than any of us on this board.

Respectfully, I stand by my opinion, and it makes sense. Yes ratings don't always directly correlate to quality but let's not pretend they aren't related.

In other tv shows, like Greys Anatomy, Riverdale or Empire we have seen ratings drop off after periods of declining writing among other factors.

This holds up in soaps too. The decline in the genre is not just do to the shift in viewership habits and less stay at home moms -- many fans simply gave up as writing went to hell.

So I think it's a fair question to ask why a soap where nothing happens or another soap that copy and pastes dialogue across episodes are still in the top spots.

I literally said that in the post you quoted. I don't want to be combative, I was just giving my perspective why it might be harder to get back the sampler dropoffs.

Anyways, I'm glad the show is doing well, even if I don't care for it. Hopefully it encourages the big media companies to take more creative risks.

I am def not pretending but in fact they do NOT necessarily relate.

Maybe, maybe not IT is far too subjective to imply any kind of causality.

Various possible ideas spring to mind. 1st, habit.

This is my thoughts! They see a successful black family at the center and automatically tune out. I can’t tell u how many racist comments I see on Twitter regarding the show .

    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.

    • I enjoy BF better on Days than on YR.   Chad is greater than Cane, in my opinion.
    • Ick! Seeing MS and BF making out as the characters onscreen was just ewwww.
