BTG: April 2025 Discussion Thread

The fact that people are so upset by this is a great thing in my opinion. As a CBS watcher I know at least for March Madness, that is something I'm used to but I haven't cared about those shortened weeks for years. People caring enough to want to see the show means it's building viewer loyalty which is only going to help in the long run.

I agree with you there.

Still, I think it's important to talk truth and reality about these decisions and not make blanket statements about how "stupid" the decision is and how "it doesn't make any sense" and "no one watches soccer at 2 pm."

I just do  not care. Peacock has spoiled me in a way that I love being spoiled. Why? No preemptions, ever, for any show, so DAYS is never preempted. And guess what? I LOVE IT! You can put away your charts & graphs proving that there is an audience for soccer in the middle of the week. Great. Good for them. As for me, I want my soap. And, I don't care who likes soccer. Today I am NOT watching BTG & that is where my point starts & also ends. If you don't mind, bully for you. I do mind. Now this is the end of my rant.

That's me - in a nutshell. But, it's because BTG is so damn good!

I also wondered who was watching soccer during the day, mid-week, or even watching soccer at all. However, I know SOOOO many people that never followed soaps that were downright shocked that a new soap premiered in 2025. Why? Because they didn't know that people still watch TV during the day, mid-week, or still watched soaps at all. Many also didn't realize that soaps streamed, too. So, I feel foolish, but I guess I don't have all the answers with regard to the programming of major TV networks. I'm glad they have people that focus on these things, because that is how we got BTG in the first place.

And its 2025, not the 1970s, 80s, 90s... just bc pre-emptions have been a thing for decades, doesn't mean there shouldnt already be ways to deal with it in the modern era. Airing th episodes in the markets that can and putting them up and directing viewers to CBS.com to see them for free and of course Paramount Plus for those subscribers, seems like a reasonable compromise. Today's tv market leans heavily towards streaming so there is no reason why they shouldnt leverage that when it comes to this
