Brandon C's acting as Martin has greatly improved.  Astonishing.  Now at the point where some of the annoying traits are clearly intentionally traits of the character, and not tics of the actor, so that's good.

date: Monday, April 7 | Christopher Dunn, Jazmen Darnell Brown | Phideaux Xavier

  • Not the catch-up notice scroll at the beginning of the episode. Hope this does not mean we're going to be interrupted?
  • That couch is cursed for the deadbeat; who'd be run over and/or hit with an emergency brake?
  • Laura! Have not seen her since the premier week. Thought she'd never be seen again.
  • Dana, now is not the time for the dramatics, and there is no way you'd give a Viola Davis-worthy level performance. Never.
  • August 28?! We're planning well ahead, aren't we?! Lucy on GH is working one month before the Nurse's Ball, and it shows.
  • Bradley deserves a hell of a lot better than Martin, and Martin (a.k.a. deadbeat) deserves nothing but misery.
  • Samantha and Tyrell with their great-grandparents?! Oh, I love this.
  • Mona... woo-hoo! I've missed this fashionable diva!
  • Oh, Tyrell is smart in the mouth, but smart in the right kind of way. Part of me feels like a naked photo of Tyrell is what's been spread around school. The scandal of it all.
  • These scenes with Dana and Ted... not going to lie, I can kind of tell why they're swapping out Maurice Johnson with Keith D. Robinson right now. It's glaring in these scenes why it's happening.
  • Eva, I don't think you were meant to see that. Retreat. Retreat immediately and don't turn back. Save yourself!
  • Hey deadbeat, I'm sick of you! So sick of you and your arrogance.
  • The anvils keep dropping, re: Nicole and Ted's marriage.
  • Oh, Viagra discussion?! This kind of tea is brilliant.
  • Anita is very forthright; she sees what is coming.
  • Another Febreze ad? At least this one was quick.
  • Vernon has such a poignant way with words. You can tell he was a politician who was effective in his day with this montage. I love this. So, so much.
  • Dana in her nurse wig. NURSE is right. #IYKYK

Come on papa Dupree for the narration. This was beautifully done.

I hate the turn with Ted’s character.

Why Laura?

Loved the episode.  All the references to books, poetry, the speeches.  I know that poem so well, I said it aloud with Anita
https://poets.org/poem/dreams

Vernon starting to write his speech, talking about bullying, it could reference (without his knowledge) Tyrell's struggle, of course.  But it also spoke to me about the current US governmental bullying.

Vernon's speech as the voiceover for the montage at the end was just awesome. How it was done, and what he said.  Yes we do need love.
What he said applies on multiple levels, in Fairmont Crest, in viewer's real lives, and on the national/international level.

    • I got the impression Andre was opening up to Dani about his feelings, that's why I thought he was about to admit he was in love with her. Dani has no idea that what's good for her is right in front of her face. Tomorrow we might get a love scene set to an R&B slow jam.
    • No, he was pining for that walking sleeping pill Ashley, and then later texted Dani for a hookup when he felt lonely. He and Dani got into it a bit as she’s not ready to be seen openly with him still, and they both realized they were hung up on other people - Andre on Ashley (thought he never said her name) and especially Dani on Bill.  Of course neither learnt anything and then proceeded to have sex again.
    • I'm glad there's a pool set if only for the eye candy. I do think they need to be careful when filming. Today, the direction was off with Kai in the pool -- it looked like he was sitting in a wading pool, and it was clear there was no depth to the water. Also, as I mentioned before, the view from those large windows looks fake as hell.
    • From my notes: San Cristobal with an “a” is from ANOTHER WORLD. Mac, Carl, their fathers, Ian Rains & his father, and Paulina had history on that equatorial island. Paulina was visiting there researching her past & fell for both Ian & Jake McKinnon! San Cristobel with an “e” is from GUIDING LIGHT and is the island kingdom where Prince Richard & Prince Edmund were from. Others with history there were Reva when she was Princess Katherine, Jonathan, Olivia, etc.
    • Schenkel was indeed a disaster.     During 1985, the following characters exited the show: Brian Bancroft, Sandy Cory, Blaine Ewing Cory, Jamie Frame, the first Peter Love, Alice Matthews Frame, Ben McKinnon, Vince McKinnon, Mark Singleton, Perry Hutchins, Grant Todd, and Tony the Tuna.   The following characters were introduced and quickly disappeared Chris Chapin, Neal Cory, Dee Evans, Daniel Gabriel, Michaud Christophe, Edward Gerard, Daphne Grimaldi, Zane Lindquist, and Brittany Peterson.   The only successful characters Schenkel introduced were Bridget Connell, Vicky Hudson, and Jake McKinnon.   Schenkel recasted the popular Sally Frame with Taylor Miller when Mary Page Keller left AW.  Also, he recasted Peter Love twice in 1985 with Christopher Holder and Marcus Smythe.   Schenkel brought back Carl Hutchins for the Egyptian/Arizona treasure story with the poisonous dust.
    • Was Andre about to use the L word with Dani?
    • Honestly, she should have went splat on the bottom since it looks only 4 feet or less.  I stopped watching by that time, but since they were in L.A. I could believe it.
    • My mistake. San Cristobal. I've seen it as Alamainia, Alamainland, and my personal favorite, Ubilam ("Malibu" spelled backwards). I was sticking to non-U.S. locations, but I suppose Aremid could have been Canadian. Ah, yes. Haiti?
    • You're very, very welcome! Nice seeing things appreciated.
    • No, not just you. And I think I remember that set; honestly, a lot of the L.A. sets stand out more in my head, and their stellar outdoor scenes.
