Holly & Sasha: WTF

The more I think about this revelation between Sasha and Holly/Robert the dumber it gets. I mean like stone cold, next level dumb. This may be a rival to the Jagger murder for dumbest storyline of the year.

- Robert left on February 25, 1992 and was presumed dead. Holly didn't leave town until July 2, 1993. She was never pregnant.

- Sasha the con artist chose to come to Port Charles, the place her mother spent years in, to pretend to be a rich woman's daughter? And she didn't think for one second that her money-grubbing mom might show up  to blackmail her?

- Valentin Cassadine, a former spy and intelligence expert, didn't take this into consideration? Either that or he didn't do any research whatsoever, which would be wildly out of character.

- Sasha was a partner in Deception. Her mother never once hit her up for money?

- Holly didn't come see her daughter when she was dying? Or after her baby's death? Or the death of Sasha's husband?

I just provided this information for free. They have people that are PAID to do this.

They did the same thing with Cody re: Mac and Dominique already. Both Dominique and Holly were onscreen the entire length of those tenures. Both women were never pregnant, and Dominique died onscreen. GH does not care and thinks everyone is stupid.

I've been meh on Holly for many, many years but if I wasn't before this mess will definitely do it. She's a complete buffoon and her daughter is still another useless character who has been on this show way too long, like most of the cast. The term 'veteran' no longer has meaning on GH when the bulk of the ensemble is just people Frank refuses to let go of. It is deranged that both Willow and Sasha (among others) have been on this show the better part of a decade.

Even so, Sonny and Jason now feel more irrelevant than ever. When all you've got for them is Sonny with Eva LaRue's chest or somehow plugging him into the latest jewel-hoarding evil baldo plot with Carlo Rota, and Jason taking a week to get involved with Retiree Robert (please, it's time), Holly and Sasher you can tell they're at a total loss. It feels completely alien to those characters. Meanwhile Carly has her exciting new romance with Dayplayer B. Who cares? Carly is salvageable because you can plug her into various stories, but what are Sonny and Jason going to organically do on this canvas? People love to bang on about Lucky but JJ is out here selling and has a lot of ties. What are the Big Two doing?

Why can't someone just give me 50K for being mad at them for no reason? Damn, Cody. Buys a lot of oats!

I will give it to the kid playing Rocco: I thought he was mostly mid for awhile but he has brought it for this stuff and is quite good. The best since Hudson West. You could see Genie lighting up having someone young who's actually a talent to work with, even if their scenes were cut to ribbons so we could have more of the Scorpio geriatric reunion tour. Whereas I knew the kid playing Danny was green and weak awhile back, and he remains so. I know Steve had been working with him since he came back and Steve is seasoned enough to be able to teach him physical control; Danny had some emotion in the early scenes but kept grinning through them. Oof. (Also, did Jason really tell Sam's kids about their mother on the bench outside Bobbie's?) Not a tear shed with Carly either. He seemed weeks or months past it.

Legit ridiculous that Lulu's kid is grieving harder than Sam's own children. But I rarely expect much from soap kids, especially ones FV hires bc they're cute and then refuses to let go of. It's just embarrassing given GH's history with hiring a lot of good kids in the past. They should level up Rocco in story now, but if I know this show he'll be in backburner city just like Jake. I am ready for Lulu to wake up - I want to see this poor kid happy.

Also: Kristina howling away at the top of her lungs in the hospital chapel was embarrassing, nasty work. It is mortifying how quickly they have tanked Kate Mansi, who was admirably carrying a lot of the show on her back in the spring-summer under Mulcahey IMO. The character has become utterly unrootable, is still calling her sister's child hers and shrieking through scenes. I think KM can recover but not with this kind of material.

Finn Carr just needed time to work; not an episode here and there in one month, and then disappear for a period of time. He needed to be on-set, working with the adult stars he's associated with and learn from them, and I feel like he's finally done that. I always saw a glimmer of hope with him, and to see him [finally] get his chance to do his thing has been wonderful.

What's new about today's Kristina?  She's been moping and selfish and sad for months.  Now she's so sad she can't even drive and is putting others in danger.  Not that I care if she injured or killed Natalia, but she's been unlikeable for several months.  I say that as someone who likes Mansi and her portrayal of Kristina.  She's just not rootable or even sympathetic at this point.  Sam's entire family and friends are very sad.  It's not all about Kristina and her pain.

    • When you bring up what I like to call "Shapiro's Folly" you think Dano's acting choices mattered? I ask because I don't think so. As far as I could tell almost universally the ABC fans hated the very idea of her being on all 4 shows! And, I agreed. If she wanted success she should have planted "Rae" on one & given up her idea of branding, or whatever it was that she was after.
    • Okay, well her reasons were that she had a mandate to reduce the size of the cast & she had another mandate to make the cast overall younger, so her reason for picking Donna to off was because she was too old.  So, is that what you understand? Or are you thinking of something else? Which if so, I would be delighted to hear about it!  She had arbitrarily picked 50 as the age people needed to be younger than.  And, that is why she got rid of both Bridget & Spencer Harrison.  And, getting rid of Bridget was another of her horrible ideas.  Why do you refer to her as the Face of the Show? Don't feel bad. I am a major Cass fan & I don't remember him with Donna either, LOL! Can we say forgettable? And, yes, Lila was the most last minute of last minutes!!!!
    • This is AWESOME, thank you for taking the time to post this! My first thought: My memory is a lot better than I thought it was, LOL! The first episode I clearly remember watching had a scene of Ed confronting Holly about Christina's paternity. He lamented how wonderful things had been over Christmas, so looks like I started watching the show early 1976. The only thing puzzling me is where is Evie? I thought she was around BEFORE Rita got involved with Tim, but maybe that's one gap in my memory. It makes Rita look slightly better--in that case, she didn't seduce Tim knowing her sister had a crush on him.
    • Oh, well.  At least he can cry into his hoodie.
    • Sorry, just realized I'd somehow lost a whole paragraph in that last post.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  They should have brought Billy back in the early '90s for more drama with Hart and Blake. Maybe Blake would have gotten involved with him to try to ruin him in Roger's eyes, but realize under his sweet nature, Billy was a player himself.

    • Watching the cult of Fetterman collapse is one of the few political bright spots for me. The best part  is watching all the people who built him up now decide they want to tear him down. I'll be fascinated to see how this ends for him. https://buckscountybeacon.com/2025/05/pennsylvanias-democratic-senator-john-fetterman-raises-alarms-with-outburst-at-meeting-with-union-officials/

    • Long ago, this Rachel fan channel uploaded a number of clips of Rachel with Felicia during the alcoholism story, and this one in particular stands out for me.

And then you have this scene, which is the dark mirror of the above, especially the final moment: Felicia started out as camp bitch on a very dreary show (with Cecile being the only somewhat fun character around that point) and then got into a lot of comedy. Some of the comedy was very stupid, but many viewers still felt drawn to it, to Lily, Cecile, Cass, Felicia, Kathleen, Wallingford. There was a vibrancy which Dano fit well in, her fashions and melodrama parodied in a gentle way. This was missing in some of the long-suffering parts she'd had had on shows like ATWT. By the late '80s, especially after Wallingford's death, those times were gone, and Donna Swajeski added further misery to Felicia with the Gold Street backstory. Luckily, after a bit of time the show found a good framing for this new twist on Felicia. The stories with finding and losing a love from her past, learning that a woman she hated was the daughter she'd spent years searching for, sinking into alcoholism, they all fit into the type of material suited for the '40s and '50s screen goddesses.  When Dano tried some of this old weepy type of material when she went back to ABC, it mostly fell flat, as the atmosphere wasn't the same and her character always felt shoehorned in. It worked perfectly at this period on AW because you had Iris, you had Rachel, you had Donna - you had a number of tough-but-vulnerable women of a certain age, most of them grandmothers by this point, but still trying to find love, find themselves. This is what AW could have had earlier if they hadn't dumped Pat and Alice, but better late than never. This is an approach you saw more often on British soaps than on US soaps, which for a number of years respected women in that age group. Both UK and US soaps have done away with this, both countries having the ladies devolve into perpetual ingenues (with added doses of endlessly self-aware camp in the UK) or just being shipped off entirely.  You could even see that on AW with the treatment of Iris (shipped off, never to be mentioned again, too old to return), Donna (repeatedly humiliated and crippled), Felicia (regressed into degrading herself with married John), Rachel (mother to newborn twins, put into lengthy periods of trauma through her new relationship with Carl).
