They don't even have a kitchen lol.  This penthouse logistically makes no sense.  Is every other room in the house just attached to one long hallway?

The worst part for me is that I had no warning.  One day she just mentioned to John off handedly that she sold it.  I never got to say goodbye!!

Since Steve and Kayla's house is basically the same set with a kitchen I wish the show could have figured out a way to keep the OG penthouse and use it for multiple sets. I remember hearing it was just too large, but I honestly wouldn't care if they used it for several different couples.  It's better than what we have now.

Was the arched wooden doorway with the wrought iron peephole in Marlena's penthouse?  It was memorable, but seemed out of place with the rest of the architecture.

Also, remember the silly scene in the Melaswen plot when Doc fell from the balcony of her penthouse on the Friday cliffhanger, but landed on an awning?

Yes, Marlena had the wooden door with the peephole.  I loved that touch.  I never thought it was out of place with the rest of the set, but I hated the painting she had right by the door.  It was like Madonna and child or something.  It was ugly.

I thought Marlena fell on Sami when she fell from the balcony lol.  It is possible those were two separate penthouse falls though.

For nearly 4 decades, Marlena Evans and I have loved the same man. Marlena’s John is an iconic hero, and unfailingly rescuing her from all matter of villains. My acting partner was incredibly professional from the moment he entered the studio; flawless in his preparation and ready for any eventuality in any scene. He was gracious and kind to everyone, from the executive staff to the night crew. Drake loved what he did and adored and respected everyone with whom he did it. Having said that, we always knew that his two greatest loves were his family and the Yankees. Victoria and their children were truly the center of his life. Drake is dearly loved by everyone who ever knew him and he will be missed beyond measure. We will continue, as he always encouraged us, to swing for the fences.

Many of the current and former cast commented on Deidre's IG post.
