Members carolineg
They don't even have a kitchen lol. This penthouse logistically makes no sense. Is every other room in the house just attached to one long hallway? The worst part for me is that I had no warning. One day she just mentioned to John off handedly that she sold it. I never got to say goodbye!! Edited October 6, 2024 by carolineg
Members Liberty City
Absolutely. It's a magical hallway without endless possibilities. Reminds me of a comedy series set.
Members carolineg
Since Steve and Kayla's house is basically the same set with a kitchen I wish the show could have figured out a way to keep the OG penthouse and use it for multiple sets. I remember hearing it was just too large, but I honestly wouldn't care if they used it for several different couples. It's better than what we have now.
Members Liberty City
So many sets are the same set, just re-decorated to appear different. It's so cheap in every sense of the damn word. Beyond the penthouse, I'd really like to see the original hospital set return. This smaller version of the already small set is just not cutting it.
Members j swift
Was the arched wooden doorway with the wrought iron peephole in Marlena's penthouse? It was memorable, but seemed out of place with the rest of the architecture. Also, remember the silly scene in the Melaswen plot when Doc fell from the balcony of her penthouse on the Friday cliffhanger, but landed on an awning? Members carolineg
Yes, Marlena had the wooden door with the peephole. I loved that touch. I never thought it was out of place with the rest of the set, but I hated the painting she had right by the door. It was like Madonna and child or something. It was ugly. I thought Marlena fell on Sami when she fell from the balcony lol. It is possible those were two separate penthouse falls though.
Members Titus Andronicus
Marlena had a lot of falls from balconies over the years. You think she'd start avoiding them, loll.
Members Antoyne
And then she killed her little brother and happily dated her uncle. Also I preferred the actress that played Chelsea prior to Rachel Melvin a whole lot more. Rachel Melvin and Molly Burnett were very similar to me. I hate this set so much.
Members Bright Eyes
Would it be overshadowing to have Dick Van Dyke return for John's memorial? I wonder how they'll reference his character at all. I would at least have him be an off-screen presence.

Members janea4old
As posted much earlier on this thread, Deidre released a statement on October 2nd via Access Hollywood. https://www.accessonline.com/articles/days-of-our-lives-icon-deidre-hall-speaks-out-on-drake-hogestyns-death-exclusive On Oct. 21st, Deidre posted that same statement on her IG. https://www.instagram.com/deidrehall_official/p/DBZlBGcyZtH/ deidrehall_official For nearly 4 decades, Marlena Evans and I have loved the same man. Marlena’s John is an iconic hero, and unfailingly rescuing her from all matter of villains. My acting partner was incredibly professional from the moment he entered the studio; flawless in his preparation and ready for any eventuality in any scene. He was gracious and kind to everyone, from the executive staff to the night crew. Drake loved what he did and adored and respected everyone with whom he did it. Having said that, we always knew that his two greatest loves were his family and the Yankees. Victoria and their children were truly the center of his life. Drake is dearly loved by everyone who ever knew him and he will be missed beyond measure. We will continue, as he always encouraged us, to swing for the fences. . Many of the current and former cast commented on Deidre's IG post. comments on Deidre's IG: Many have of the cast already released statements separately. Members Antoyne
This was wonderful. Usually you see a lot of nice things said about someone when they pass, but Drake truly comes across as the most well liked man there could’ve been in Daytime.
