Webmaster Errol Posted August 20, 2024 Webmaster Share Posted August 20, 2024 With the Olympics now over, viewing habits are returning to some form of normalcy, particularly for “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless,” demographically speaking, of course. During the week of August 12-16, 2024, “The Bold and the Beautiful” tied “The Young and the Restless” in both key women sales demographics, each with a 0.3 rating in Women 18-49 (rounded) and a 0.4 rating in Women 25-54 (rounded). That said, the half-hour soap did manage to top its sister series in Women 18-49 (unrounded) where its 0.28 rating was +0.03 ahead of “The Young and the Restless” and its 0.25 rating. Among Women 25-54 (unrounded), “The Young and the Restless” was on top with its 0.44 rating, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” was right on its tail with its 0.42 rating. The Bold and the Beautiful Ratings Spearheading “The Bold and the Beautiful” was a crossover appearance by “The Young and the Restless” stars Michael Damian and Lauralee Bell, who took their characters, Danny Romalatti and Christine “Cricket” Blair, from Genoa City to Los Angeles, along with surprise smooches between Hope and Finn (Annika Noelle and Tanner Novlan), and Dollar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and Luna (Lisa Yamada). In story, Luna just found out that Bill isn’t her biological father after all, leaving her to believe that the now-deceased Tom (Clint Howard) is likely the one who sired her. With her mom in jail for allegedly offing her real father, Luna sought solace in Bill’s arms and snuck in a kiss on the lips. Meanwhile, in the case of Hope and Finn, the former forced a kiss on the latter after witnessing all the happy couples during Danny’s concert at the Forrester mansion. The Wednesday, August 14 and Friday, August 16 episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” ranked the best among Women 18-49 (unrounded), each with a 0.35 rating. Among Women 25-54 (unrounded), the Wednesday, August 14 episode pulled in a 0.48 rating while the Friday, August 16 episode pulled in a 0.46 rating. Among Total Viewers, “The Bold and the Beautiful” averaged 2.639 million viewers, which was a gain of +66,000 viewers over its performance during the week of August 5-9, 2024. Over two weeks, the CBS soap has gained back +138,000 viewers. The Young and the Restless Ratings Remaining number one among Total Viewers with 2.901 million viewers tuning in, “The Young and the Restless” also managed to rank number one for the week against its full daytime competition due to Nielsen excluding repeats of “The Price is Right” from the game show’s weekly average. The highest-rated episodes for “The Young and the Restless” among Women 18-49 (unrounded) were the Tuesday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 14 episodes, each with a 0.28 rating and 0.27 rating, respectively. Among Women 25-54 (unrounded), the Tuesday, August 13 episode pulled in a 0.49 rating while the Wednesday, August 14 episode pulled in a 0.46 rating. Gaining +56,000 over its week ago performance among Total Viewers, “The Young and the Restless” was flat week-to-week among Women 25-54 (unrounded) and down -0.01 among Women 18-49 (unrounded; 0.25 rating vs. 0.26 rating). Over the last two weeks, the series has gained back +105,000 viewers. General Hospital Ratings Although it remains under the two million viewer mark for the 18th consecutive week, “General Hospital” did manage to pull in 1.992 million viewers to attract its largest overall audience since the week of April 8-12, 2024 (last time the show pulled in over two million viewers). Additionally, the soap gained +84,000 viewers over its performance one week earlier, which itself saw a gain of +93,000 viewers compared to how it did during the week of July 29-August 2, 2024. Over two weeks, the ABC series has gained back +177,000 viewers. Among the key sales demos, “General Hospital” is ahead of its week ago performance, hitting a 0.22 rating among Women 18-49 (unrounded) and a 0.33 rating among Women 25-54 (unrounded). Compared to the same week last year, the show was also up +55,000 viewers and virtually on par with its year ago performance among Women 18-49 (unrounded; 0.22 rating vs. 0.23 rating). There were no preemptions reported by Nielsen during the week of August 12-16, 2024. “The View,” “The Talk,” “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” each aired amended repeats which are excluded from each show’s weekly average and will not factor into their season average. A closer look at how the daytime soaps performed, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly. Members Soapsuds
Wednesday's B$B was MD and LLB crossover Rock On skit. Pretty impressive in the demo. GH just needs 8,000 more viewers to crack the 2 million mark. Can they do it? Members detroitpiston
Welp, men lie, women lie but the numbers don’t. GH has been more solid the last couple weeks and the ratings are jumping back up before the returns even start airing. Curious to see how much of a jump happens after Ric, Lucky and Holly debut.
