It's very confusing to me when I learn of or remember these details. I saw someone on Twitter asking why Sam wasn't more supportive of Ava as she is her aunt. Did they ever have a relationship along those lines? (I know they are biologically related)

No, lol. I forgot that too. I can't remember Sam ever having a second of tolerance for Ava.

And yes, Nina was the (adopted) sister of the varnished wood effigy known as Nathan West - his bio-mom was Obrecht, Donna Mills' sister. Stafford's Nina used to constantly call him "Jay" (his first name was James) and fawn over him which drove me nuts. I had a very strong suspicion in 2014-15 that RC had actually intended for both to be stealth Cassadines given the connection he created between Obrecht and Thaao Penghlis' Victor Cassadine, and have Nina and wooden Nathan end up hanging out at Wyndemere and mixing it up with Nikolas and co. Small favors that didn't happen. But anyway I never cared about Nina and Nathan's bond, their family, etc. I do buy Nina caring for Maxie even more since Nathan's death, though.

Wait so who are Nina’s parents if she’s Nathan’s adopted sister? That whole family tree was a mess to me and you unlocked a buried memory of Stafford saying Jay as much as possible. It’s actually funny I really only consider Stafford’s Nina and CW’s Nina the same person in name only. That was helped by the insanity of Nina and Ava ever being gal pals.

I genuinely forget regularly that Julian was supposed to be Sam’s dad. It didn’t help that KM and her onscreen dad looked like peers.

Nina's parents are Donna Mills' pointless character Madeline Reeves, Obrecht's sister, and her late(?) tycoon husband. Madeline took in Nathan. But again, I strongly suspected given all the musical parents Ron was doing at that time (including revealing that Nathan was actually Obrecht's, which was only brought up maybe a year in) that that would've been subject to change to tie Nina deeper into the show.

I think it may have been the intent (or something like it) under Guza. But Frank and Ron came in with a clean slate and just didn't have the mindset for any of that or I suspect any knowledge of it - they just went for something pretty pedestrian.

As for the rest, I just don't think there's a chance in Hell that Ron Carlivati of all people revealed Obrecht and Victor had a past only to make them not have one if not two secret kids together. I think we were going to be subjected to Ryan Paevey and Stafford hanging around Wyndemere acting like Carlivati's 'new Cassadine generation' with little Nicolas Bechtel Spencer. Again, small mercies.

I also strongly suspected Ron had initially intended for Stafford's Nina to be the true mother of Kristen Alderson's Kiki, who Ava would have somehow stolen from Coma Nina BITD during their feud over Silas in New York, but I digress. My brain worked overtime in those days because you had to with Ron's deranged twists and needless add-ons. WTFever is going on with Anna Lynne McCord's "Abby" on DAYS right now is the same sort of situation - I think people are right that it's probably Gwen yet again.

I'll be honest, I still don't understand the story of Nina's baby(ies).  I don't get how Willow and Nelle are her children.  It's extremely confusing so I would hope that there was a better (or at least more clear) version of that story.  I also often forget Nina/Ava's weird ass backstory over Silas of all people.

    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
