New Details Announced (TL; DR) - September 19, 2024:

  • "The Gates" is now called "Beyond The Gates."
  • Key Art/Logo for "Beyond The Gates" released.
  • Soap alums Tamara Tunie ("As The World Turns"), Daphnee Duplaix ("One Life to Live," "Passions") and Karla Mosley are the first actors officially cast by the show.
  • "Beyond The Gates" is a one-hour daytime drama.
  • The series is set to premiere in early 2025. Previously, CBS announced it would debut in January 2025.
  • CBS has formally announced the series will begin production later this fall in Atlanta; confirming the film location (city), but not studio.
  • Robert Guza Jr. ("General Hospital," "Sunset Beach") and Julie Carruthers ("All My Children," "Port Charles") are officially confirmed as executive producers, joining a team led by creator, showrunner, and executive producer Michele Val Jean, and fellow executive producers Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner.
  • Anna Saalfeld is also a new addition to the executive producer team, having never been previously announced. This makes it eight executive producers behind "Beyond The Gates," the most for a daytime drama series ever.
  • P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble, remains on board as a partner on the series which is being developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Ducksworth.
  • An official synopsis has been released for "Beyond The Gates."

For the full story, click here.

Note: "BTG" will be the official acronym used for "Beyond The Gates" on the SON Community. Posts/threads created should always start with "BTG:" going forward.

For reference, the current soap acronyms are "B&B" (The Bold and the Beautiful), "DAYS" (Days of our Lives"), "GH" (General Hospital") and "Y&R" (The Young and the Restless). "ALL" is for all shows, while "AMC" is for All My Children.

Also, #BeyondTheGates is the official hashtag to be used on social media, per CBS.

Facebook and Instagram pages have been created, but are not active. Will share the link when they are officially available.

I can appreciate these black history lessons that cast members are rolling out, but they are going to have to captivate the audience quickly, which has nothing to do with black history lessons. Just sayin

Vamping it up as bestie “Pammy” with the glorious, kind, fabulously talented Karla Mosley (“Dani Dupree”) behind the scenes on “Beyond the Gates.”

Don’t miss special sneak peeks on Entertainment Tonight airing all this week in anticipation of our first episode dropping February 24th on CBS and Paramount+ !!

* I know this has been posted/discussed. Fairman's report does state: ❝ In addition, there is no confirmation yet on if any streaming service has picked up Beyond the Gates to stream in Canada. As of press time, Beyond the Gates will not stream on Paramount+ (where it will stream in the U.S.) in Canada. ❞ which does mirror what's been stated in this topic prior.

and, have to say, re all of those bitch slaps and violence in the promos: less is more — at least for this longtime soap fan.

So they can't show history and they can't show eyecatching soap opera behavior. Got it. What should they be featuring?

Fairman also says (as stated earlier in this thread via thetvwatercooler.com) that BTG is available in Canada on CHCH.  And as thetvwatercooler.com said, CHCH serves the Halton and Niagara regions and is available on basic cable in the Toronto area and on digital and satellite across Canada.  (Not everyone in Canada can get it but some can).

Update, I'm in the USA with no special devices or VPN.  I just discovered I can watch CHCH *live* here:

They are going all out with it for that that show! Let’s hope people won’t be dissapointed when this show turns out to be just another soap opera. It will be good but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves

I'm going to say it one last time: There is NO OFFICIAL word on where Beyond the Gates will air in other countries, particularly Canada. Any current reporting stating otherwise is inaccurate or speculative.

I have been assured that the official information will be released this week via press release. Yeah, I wish it was already known, but all articles and reports on the matter are currently speculative based on a small station's TV listings.

I wasn't posting it to question you, as I don't, so sorry if it come off as such; just was noting the CHCH report is gaining some momentum, etc. It's a shame they're waiting until the last minute to announce it, though.

We also need to temper ourselves a bit - daytime is not primetime, streaming, film, or a Broadway production. History has shown that every new daytime  soap needs some time to find its way and make tweaks for improvement. BTG will likely not be any different.

So Karla says Dani married her ex at 19 and were married for 30 years so that means Dani is probably over 50

She’s 43 IRL, so not a huge gap I guess. But Karla does not look like a woman pushing 50, lol.
