I'm surprised that someone who has such experience with soap operas didn't realize that an hour long soap has a runtime of about 36 minutes without commercials (not 45). The exclusion being Days now that it's exclusively for streaming which has a more varied runtime. In fact, I don't remember the last time a soap had a runtime near the 45 minutes. By the late 90s, most soaps were clocking under 40 minutes to squeeze in more ads.

Like I've said, I really don't care that the sets look the same as they do on every production today, with no thought put into how they can reveal something about the characters who inhabit them.  I just care about the writing and acting; and so far, I'm good with it.

I'm one of the people who do care about how the show looks but from what we've seen, I think the show looks good and does look modern. It looks like they have a good variety of well-designed sets and the sets look like they're a good size. We also have sprinkles of location shooting so overall they do appear to have a modern production model that should attract an audience. What I'm most curious about now is how the music and directing will be. I'm also looking forward to seeing how the writers structure the show and I'm hoping for good scripts.

Compared to some of the other recent soap launches, this really feels like a labor of love so I do think they'll give us something worthwhile. Even if everything doesn't work at launch, I feel confident they will make it work in time. When you look at PC or Sunset Beach, I feel there wasn't much care given to giving us a great show. With Passions, I do think JER had a clear vision and for the most part achieved what he wanted to achieve.

I'm just thankful we don't appear to have a show that's just thrown together. If this is successful and another network decides to do a soap I hope they take similar care in making it.

    • What consequences are there to suffer? He didnt commit any crime and everyone already hates him. If anything this will set back the progress he's made with Naomi
    • Yes and I also loved how she focused on Chelsea and Naomi when she spilled Bill's involvement in all of this.
    • Danny: Don't drink it. Just hold it. Rocco drinks three laced cups.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
