I'm sure that'll come but I do think it's smart to center the promotion around this family to give viewers a clear image to associate with the show and something they can remember. A bunch of different promos with the entire cast might not work in todays fast paced environment.

This is also a marathon, not a sprint. They're leading with their name actors. Based on everything we've seen so far, they know what they're doing. They're promoting this show heavily in daytime, primetime and streaming. We know the cast has been doing press interviews as well. They seem to have a solid plan in place.

Absolutely! You don't want to make it too busy. Focusing on the core is SO important at first to give the viewers some kind of connection. A face (in this case 4) they can remember. It's not good to dilute the focus too much at first.

Found someone on Facebook talking about this as a potential plot point and it sounded juicy and on point.

Bill Hamilton and Andre Hamilton are half-brothers. They shared the same father. Andre's late mother was "the other woman" whom Bill's father cheated with which created Andre. Bill's father marries her before Andre is born giving him the Hamilton name.

I like it. Lol. Gotta be SOME reason they have the same name. And it just sounds like that classic soap style outcome.

A firefighter? Guess we won't be seeing him on the job.

I think the focus needs to be on a few characters in the first few weeks and then bring others to the forefront.

That was an issue with Texas, Santa Barbara etc too many characters to get into at the start.

Then a lot of them falling by the wayside.

Exactly. A lot of soaps in the past that have failed have tried to introduce way too many characters at the same time. I've said it before, but it makes sense to focus on a limited set of characters and establish them (even if it gives certain actors a heavy workload at first), then work from there and slowly start fleshing out other characters.

But if they throw twenty characters at us in the first week and wants us to equally care for them... it won't work. Make us understand the dynamics between the core characters and then weave in how the other characters work into that.

This kind of continuous silliness is part of what I'm talking about. We need real promos of these characters relating to the show itself.

Well crap. the Instagram glitchy thing of bleeding down into following post is happening again @Errol (see above as example)

I will try my experiment of reposting it with extra blank space at the bottom, to see if that fixes it, (it's worked before).

The Dupree girls are showing the other shows who try these stupid social media dances how it's done. Love seeing how close this cast seems to be.

And, in the age of social media, it's smart for the "younger" set to use social media the way they are. Brilliant.

cbs sunday morning (19 january) includes a segment on ‘beyond the gates’ hosted by nancy giles.

while i love the show, i’ve always resented, and, frankly, never understood, the short shrift they’ve given the p&g soaps over the years.

they acknowledge the recent deaths of gh and days actors, yet ignore the passing of p&g actors who were on cbs for decades - kathryn hays, elizabeth hubbard, lisa brown, jerry ver dorn — i’m sure there are others i’ve missed.

This week on Sunday Morning (January 19)

TV: Inside "Beyond the Gates," TV's newest soap opera
In the world of daytime network TV, only three long-running soap operas have survived. But in February, CBS is launching a new one: "Beyond the Gates," which traces a prominent African American family living in a gated community outside of Washington, D.C. Correspondent Nancy Giles goes behind the scenes of the new series, and talks with the creatives and actors who say you've never seen a soap like this.

I love that show but they should be ashamed of themselves!!!
