This is an exciting announcement! The more we learn, the more real it is starting to feel. Also, while these aren't names known to daytime, I do love that so many of these actors have worked on popular Black projects. That's going to help bring in their fanbases who watch the soaps on streaming and BET, but may not immediately want to watch a daytime soap.

We still have quite a few names to be announced so I'm sure we'll have some more big names coming, but I love that we have a lot of new blood as well. Let them make their own stars like many of the other soaps did.

Yes. I may question a few things here and there but I think this is going to be an interesting ensemble overall. A chance to see some we know mixing with some we don't, or at least we're less familiar with. And yep, I still think Real Andrews is "Patrick". COME ON NOW!!!!

And he's Patrick's and Anita's grandson IF I'm connecting the dots correctly.

I *believe* this is how characters lined up from the casting breakdowns to the casting announcement:

  • Sam > Ted Richardson
  • Marcus > Martin Richardson
  • Allison > Katherine "Kat" Richardson
  • Armand > Andre Hamilton
  • Joseph > Bill Hamilton
  • Jillian > Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne
  • Cheryl > Chelsea Hamilton
  • Elizabeth > Hayley Lawson
  • Dana "Leslie" Thomas
  • Kate > Eva Thomas

The character "Stacy" is missing so far. Described as a successful real estate gal in a loveless marriage. She no longer loves or shares intimacy with her husband but she has lots of fun with other people, so to speak. Ahem! Where is she? Interestingly, the original character description stàted that her husband felt the same way. I remember sizing them up as Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Not the only one missing. These characters are missing:

  • Patrick, a retired Senator, described as "gentle, humble, and generous", husband of Betty, holding a family secret
  • Stacy, owns a real estate agency which specializes in luxury properties
  • Courtney, a charmingly intense woman who experiences a "chance encounter" that triggers suppressed feelings connected to the death of her husband
  • Diane, described as a bit of a mystery, with "two faces," with a plan to "righting a grievous wrong"
  • Luis, a personal trainer at the Fairmont Estates Country Club, who has his eye on one of the married women who lives in the gated community
  • Rick, a fireman who is described as fearless
  • David, a descendant of a family of law enforcement officials, known to get too personally invested in his cases
  • Tomas "Tom" Hernandez, a "confident" attorney
  • Mike, high-powered law partner to Joseph, who has been accused of "sexual impropriety in the workplace"

Plus, Marcus' unnamed husband.

No, "most viewers" DON'T want the "fictional drama and escapism" from reality that soaps are presently giving us. You've mentioned anemic ratings more than once. Are you listening to yourself?

No one wants or expects scenes revolving around Kamala Harris or other real politicians. Still, it'd be nice to have a soap that doesn't purposely avoid mentioning politics or politicians. Instead we get political races where no one is part of a party. No one stands for anything. It all comes off as fake as hell.

Joseph is marrying the woman he had an affair with, and that is Bill marrying Hayley. Per the casting breakdown:

"Joseph, an attorney who is engaged to Elizabeth following their affair"
"Elizabeth, a paralegal, engaged to Joseph following an extra martial affair"

"Sara" in the breakdowns was always referred to as the ex-wife of "Joseph," and "Sara" became Dani. But the breakdown for "Joseph" lines up more with Bill Hamilton, Nicole's ex-husband. They could have SWAPPED the backstory, or Soap Hub mis-reported who "Joseph" was the ex-husband of.

    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
