November 12, 2023: a live zoom event with Josh Swickard and Amanda Setton.
Josh and Amanda said they don't want to show their characters in hot sex scenes, not even if it's portrayed as lovemaking, (or anything else in bed apparently) because they are each committed to their real-life spouse, and they worry what could happen when their real-life children become teens and see their GH clips on the internet.

Recap of that section of the zoom call:
https://soaphub.com/general-hospital/news-gh/ghs-josh-swickard-and-amanda-setton-talk-boundaries-and-a-special-kind-of-steamy/

Quoting the soaphub recap:
“So far, the writers and the producers are super respectful of that, and we’re very grateful, and we are willing to chemistry it up and make-out up and make it all good in that way. But in terms of side by side in a bed with bra straps, it’s a bit of a boundary for us."

This was mentioned on twitter in early December and participants from the November zoom event confirmed that the soaphub recap is accurate.

Ellen Travolta plays Lois' mother Gloria and appeared at Thanksgiving.
In an interview, Ellen said about Amanda Setton "Her personal life is very important to her and she honors it."

While I absolutely respect their personal boundaries it defeats the purpose of being on a soap.  You can't just say you hard pass the love scenes because you are married.  Most couples on soaps aren't married to one another and have no problem acting through love scenes.

Honestly I think she drains the life out of him, he was great with Willow, but once he got with her and it seems like AS personal beliefs started coming out it just drained the life out of Chase

She's called "Chastelynn" on social media for a reason LOL

Which is hilarious cause JS does that tv movie recently where he did basically the opposite of what she talked about, so she spoke for him which is not good

John B. and Rachel Ames did it well in this clip.  Nothing was shown in the clip, but the chemistry was felt.  I watched Steve and Audrey live many years ago and I always felt they were soulmates.

But when watching Chase and Brook Lynn, I don't see the same heat portrayed as Steve and Audrey.

It just doesn't seem like the right job for you if you are against love scenes lol.  I did like early Chase/Willow, so it might be an Amanda Setton thing more than a JS thing.

Exactly.  You are in the wrong business if you don't want to pretend to be in love scenes.  It's not porn lol.  I know AS was a little body conscious post-baby so it may be more that than a moral objection.

Jagger has good reason to hate Sonny.  He got an underage Karen hooked on drugs, slept with her, and employed her as a stripper.  He also was not so great to Jagger's ex Brenda.  Yes, he was there for Stone, but the point still remains Sonny has exploited underage/nearly underage women for years.   I love Sonny/Brenda more than anything, but she was 18 and he was near 30.  Karen was spiraling after revealing her sexual abuse and Sonny took that and ran with it to control her.  Listen, it's been very whitewashed over the years but the Sonny Jagger knew was pretty scummy.  Is it silly 30 years later to still hold that grudge?  Maybe.  Jagger didn't treat Karen or Brenda all that well, but I can understand his anger even if both women long forgave Sonny.

Well, that's what I thought at first, when Brook Lynn was wearing blazers all the time for a year after Amanda gave birth.    But it's been a few years and she still is dressed very modestly.  At least she pulls it off wearing bright colors and being quite fashionable. She doesn't look dumpy at all!    But it was really obvious at the swimming pool when she was wearing a long dress.  A beautiful vibrant red attractive summer dress, but still.  At that point, I began to wonder if she requested it for her personal modesty beliefs (instead of it being a body image issue).  The zoom interview leads me to believe that it is indeed her wish, but I cannot confirm that.

Thanks for the reminder. Some fans consider that what Sonny did to Karen was a form of rape, even. This show gets me putting thing in separate compartments! Obviously since I was thinking only about Stone & Robin & not even thinking about Karen.

Well, people don't want to hear it, but I can confirm it. This is of course a 'believe it if you want, don't if you don't'  kind of statement. What was delightful on UglyX was that the fan reception was completely accepting, and respectful & even maybe liking the actress more.

    • Not trying to be a contrarian, but I don't think the show needs a rival family.  Rival families have been over-done on soaps since the 1980s. And it might make the show too predictable.  I'd prefer they beef-up the have-not group with perhaps a couple of workers from the Country Club and one or two Dupree servants, joining the existing group of have-nots.  That would give the audience more opportunity to see Fairmont Crest life from the "backstairs."  To me this would be a far more interesting perspective than another wealthy family to rival the Duprees.
    • I wonder if that's why Valerie quit. I think some of the magazines at the time implied issues with Valerie and the producer, although I may be wrong. Painting Diana as going bad would have made more sense to me near the end of her run.
    • Carter & Thomasina were also stuck with a baby almost immediately and didn't get much to do after they finished high school. Carter's father was killed off and Marley drifted out of their friend group because of Jake. They left town after Carter's father died (of tomb dust!) and before Quinn died (unreasonably murdered by the Sin Stalker for dating Zack Edwards).
    • She most definitely would. And I would enjoy watching it! Yes, I agree, that was a very touching moment in her interview. It helped me feel much more connected to her as a performer. I also got the feeling from her, Live with DD, that she wanted to go deeper in conversation.
    • It really does feel like JG is getting off on torturing Shick fans.
    • That part I am not sure about, maybe Depboy might know?  The thing to remember about the show at that time was, it was so plot-driven and desperate that characters and their motivations changed virtually overnight.  There was a period of time where Diana Taylor suddenly became a bad guy and was in cahoots with Cameron Faulkner (toward the end of Valerie Starret's portrayal), which I HATED.
    • I'm going by clips so it's possible that the fan who did the editing made it look a different way than it was.
    • I’m sure Trisha-Mann Grant would love to play those layers too.  It stuck me when she said in an interview that she could identify with the pain Leslie carried because she was a single mother of two struggling with no help raising her kids at one point. You can tell playing Leslie means a lot to her, as devious as the character is (which I’m sure is fun to play for any actor)!
