(and I realized I'd gotten 75% of the lyrics wrong) It became hip to talk about how overrated Brian Wilson or some of the Beach Boys music was, but at their peak I think they were even better than the Beatles at capturing that melancholy and no-way-out feeling many men that age have. I think someone here mentioned a while back that the early 90's had so much fun pop/R&B that was later lost in shuffle. Sadly I would have to agree.
