AW - Reginald Love was originally referred to as Brandon

GH - Harland Barrett and his daughters Julia and Brenda were initially proposed as a wheeling-dealing sexy businessman in his 50's and his daughters Justine and Kelly

When Brittany Hodges first appeared on Y&R (played by Greg Evigan's daughter), John Abbott and Jill agreed she'd be a good match for Billy -- after all, "she's the daughter of our friends Fred and June Hodges of Hodges Savings & Loan!"

Lauren Woodland took over the role of Brittany, and a casting call went out for her parents -- Leland & Paige Hodges, a prominent attorney & his wife.

By the time the roles had been cast, they'd been transformed into Frederick & Anita Hodges

I used to call Mitzi Kapture's character "June Paige Anita".

Gosh it's hard to remember.  Brittany, Rhianna, and JT were all such MINOR characters at first, and they really didn't come into their own until that party when Billy got locked outside in the snow and nearly croaked.  I just remember John and Jill Abbott were fretting about whether to tell JT's parents (Tom & Martha Hellstrom, who were friends of the Abbotts) and Brittany's parents (Fred & June Hodges, who were also acquaintances).

The City’s Sydney Chase was originally named Lauren, and even appeared so in at least one magazine before the show aired. It was Morgan’s idea to change the character’s name as there were so many Laurens out there (Hutton, Bacall…) adding that she liked men’s names. (Lauren is actually a man’s name too.)

On Dynasty, The Carringtons were originally the Parkhursts, and the Colbys were the Corbys.

Dominique’s original name was Johnni (sp?) iirc, Diahann Carroll wrote about it in her autobiography, Diahann!

Kathleen said her middle name was Theresa after her dead mother but when they started the Reginald storyline she became Mary.

When Kathleen met up with Jake's mother to find out about Mary for a book she was writing the character was called Helen. Later Jake's parents were called Alice and Ray.

Alicia Coppola has said that when she auditioned the character that became Lorna Devon was being called Mavis Lane.

    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
