Webmaster Errol Posted October 4, 2022 Webmaster Share Posted October 4, 2022 Since “NBC News Daily” (1.312 million) replaced “Days of our Lives” on NBC three weeks ago, the news program has gone from a significant sore spot on the network’s lineup with just 935,000 viewers in week one to a potential winner in week two after tying both “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.595 million) and “The Talk” (1.358 million) in the all-important key women sales demos. Now in week three, the new series not only continues to tie its ABC and CBS competitors in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, but the show is now less than 50,000 viewers away from topping “The Talk” in Total Viewers. For the week of September 26-30, 2022, just 46,000 viewers separated “The Talk” and “NBC News Daily.” Week to week, the program gained +191,000 viewers, the largest weekly gain for any daytime broadcast series. In just three weeks, “NBC News Daily” has dropped the viewership gap between the two shows from +419,000 to just +46,000. Last week the gap was significantly higher with the CBS talk show leading the NBC news show by a much healthier +263,000 viewers. In Women 18-49 viewers, “NBC News Daily” beat “The Talk” by +15,000 viewers (126,000 vs. 111,000) while in Women 25-54 viewers “NBC News Daily” led “The Talk” by +1,000 viewers (179,000 vs. 178,000). In positive news for “GMA3,” the ABC news program was the only broadcast series up year to year in Total Viewers, gaining +80,000 viewers over the year ago period. The show is also up from its performance during the same period in 2020. “GMA3” leads both “NBC News Daily” and “The Talk” by significant margins in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers. “General Hospital” (2.191 million) was not only the top ABC series in Total Viewers and demos but also showed significant gains over its comparable 2020 performance when a rained-out baseball game forced the network to air an all-new episode of the soap opera. Despite launching their latest seasons on CBS, “The Young and the Restless” (3.169 million) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.801 million) lost the most viewers overall week to week, with the former down -131,000 viewers. In the demos, both soaps were tied for second place with the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.575 million) in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, each with a 0.3 and 0.6, respectively. The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” (4.102 million) retained its number one position in all categories. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of September 26-30, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted on Thursday. Note: “NBC News Daily” year ago and 2020 figures are compared to the performance of “Days of our Lives.” Week Of September 26-30, 2022 Rankers Women 18-49 Rating Rank / Show / NetworkThis WeekLast WeekLast Year20201. Members TEdgeofNight
NBC has to be happy with the numbers with NBC News Daily. They were already airing the show on their streaming platform and now they've added 1.3 million viewers to a show they were already producing. Win win win.
Members edgeofnik
The fact viewers 'found' NND with little fanfare and has nearly caught TT, shows how TT incredible weakness. It's the dog of CBS lineup.
Members Soapsuds
Yet CBS doesn't cancel the garbage show.
Members edgeofnik
Since a soap won't replace TT, there must be a classic game show they could acquire or revive because CBS isn't giving back that hour. I always thought DAYS with slight modifications to fit more like a CBS soap could've worked out of B&B. That ship has sailed.
