January 6th Capitol Assault Hearings, CBS News

As has been the case on multiple occasions in recent weeks, the daytime soaps will once again be preempted all or in part on Tuesday, July 12 due to ongoing coverage of the Congressional Committee Hearings over the January 6th Capitol Assault.

“The Young and the Restless” will air the first half of an all-new episode before CBS News breaks in at 1:00 p.m. ET with a special report to be hosted by “CBS Evening News” Anchor and Managing Editor Norah O’Donnell. She’ll be joined by chief political analyst John Dickerson, senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge, chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa, chief national affairs and justice correspondent Jeff Pegues, and congressional correspondents Scott MacFarlane and Nikole Killion. The full episode of “Y&R” will air in its entirety in markets not impacted by the hearings and will be made available to watch without interruption via CBS On Demand and Paramount+.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” is expected to be preempted nationally with today’s scheduled episode to air tomorrow, July 13. All episodes will therefore be pushed by a day.

“The Talk” is likely to be preempted on the East Coast with today’s scheduled all-new episode available to air in markets not impacted by the hearings. The full episode will be made available on CBS On Demand and Paramount+.

In markets that air “Let’s Make a Deal” after “The Talk,” the game show will be available to watch in its entirety via CBS On Demand and Paramount+. The series is currently airing a combination of reruns and all-new episodes as its season is wrapping up.

“GMA3: What You Need to Know” and “General Hospital” are also likely to be interrupted due to today’s hearings. Like “The Talk,” “GMA3” will be preempted on the East Coast due to ABC News coverage with today’s scheduled all-new episode available to air in markets not impacted by the hearings. The full episode will be available via ABC On Demand and Hulu. “General Hospital” will be preempted nationally with today’s scheduled episode to air tomorrow, July 13. All episodes will therefore be pushed by a day.

“Days of our Lives” will have aired its full episode in such major markets as WNBC in New York prior to the hearings’ start, therefore the all-new episode will be available to watch in its entirety via NBC On Demand or Peacock.

    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?
