The week of June 20-24, 2022 was another brutal one for daytime broadcast with further losses among Total Viewers for most shows, particularly โ€œThe Young and the Restlessโ€ (3.048 million) and โ€œDays of our Livesโ€ (1.535 million), caused by numerous preemptions as a result of ongoing news coverage of the January 6th Committee hearings on the 2021 Capitol Assault.ย

Daytimeโ€™s top drama lost the most viewers week to week, down -225,000 viewers, and was also down year to year for the first time in ages. Compared to the same week last year, the soap had the second-largest viewership drop among all daytime broadcast shows with a dip of -220,000. The second half-hour of โ€œLetโ€™s Make a Dealโ€ (2.456 million) managed to also lose viewers week to week, down -112,000 viewers, and had the biggest overall loss across daytime broadcast year to year, down -267,000 viewers.

Despite remaining under three million viewers for the second consecutive week, โ€œThe Bold and the Beautifulโ€ (2.918 million) actually gained viewers over the prior week, up +171,000 viewers, and was one of few shows to see an uptick year to year, up +42,000 viewers. In fact, the soap is also up compared to its rerun-filled week in 2020, gaining +1.364 million viewers, making it one of only two daytime broadcast shows to be up week to week, year to year, and up from its performance in 2020. Further, there were just 130,000 viewers separating third place โ€œY&Rโ€ and fourth place โ€œB&Bโ€ among Total Viewers (3.048 million vs 2.918 million).

โ€œGeneral Hospitalโ€ (2.060 million) aired just three episodes for the week which included the showโ€™s 15,000th episode. The soap was down -87,000 viewers week to week and down -216,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. Meanwhile, โ€œThe Viewโ€ (2.199 million) saw a small drop in viewers week to week, down -11,000 viewers, and another -63,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

โ€œDays of our Livesโ€ lost -188,000 viewers week to week, the first full week in which the show aired five episodes after being preempted for sports coverage the two prior weeks. The soap was up slightly from its series low last year, gaining +46,000 viewers year to year.

โ€œThe Talkโ€ (1.458 million) remains ahead of โ€œTODAY with Hoda & Jenna (1.336 million) in Total Viewers, and has seen overall increases week to week (+69,000 viewers), year to year (+176,000 viewers) and over its performance in 2020 (+143,000 viewers), making it the only other daytime broadcast series to see an uptick in viewers in the aforementioned categories. Despite the increases, however, the showโ€™s viewership remains on the low side.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of June 20-24, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted soon.

Boo @Toupsย ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Yes I suppose these could be rebound numbers too, some storyline, maybe a little of both.

LOLย  You can usually credit a big week in story when the ratings have been stabilized (not dropping a lot, not gaining a lot) for many weeks, and then you see a big gain.ย ย  So this was obvious situation where they just got back some of viewers from the massive 300,000+ drop. :)
