“The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will be broadcast live on Friday, June 24 from 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET (delayed PT) on CBS, the network announced today. Viewers will also be able to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Nominations will be announced on Thursday, May 5 with additional information available in the coming weeks.

This year’s telecast will mark the first time since 2019 that the awards show will take place in person and broadcast live. The 2020 telecast aired with winners accepting their awards virtually. In 2021, segments were pre-recorded with winners accepting either in-person or virtually.

As has been the case in recent years, the ceremony will take place at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena California with attendees celebrating outstanding achievements in daytime television programming during calendar year 2021.

“We look forward to honoring this year’s unparalleled class of Lifetime Achievement honorees, each an icon in their craft, and couldn’t be more excited to award the first-ever Children’s & Family Emmys,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “After two years of virtual ceremonies, we’re overjoyed to once again be together, in-person, to celebrate the best of television.”

“The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will be produced by NATAS and American Television International, and marks the sixth time ATI has produced the awards show. In 2009, ATI produced the telecast which aired on The CW and produced the telecast in 2010, 2011, 2020 and 2021 for CBS. This will mark the third consecutive year in which CBS will air the awards show, and the second of a two-year deal signed last year in which the network will carry the awards show.

Since 1974, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has been honoring a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, and legal/courtroom programs.

In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. In addition, in recognition of the marked increase in content and entries for children’s programming, 2022 will mark the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, with relevant categories separating from the Daytime Emmys into their own competition and ceremony. All awards are judged by a pool of peer professionals from across the television industry.

Sharp and Steve Ulrich are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie is executive producer from ATI.
