Marie Fredriksson, the female part of the Swedish pop duo Roxette, died early Monday morning Swedish time. She was only 61 years old. 

In 2002 she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and although it was successfully treated, the aggressive treatment she had to endure took its toll on her body and contributed to her death.

R.I.P Marie.

I was never a huge fan of Roxette, and preferred Marie's solo material in Swedish. Like this, her first hit.

Lots of deaths this month. Sad. Marie had a wonderful voice and swagger to match - Roxette were a great example of how timeless the best of '80s pop-rock was. 

Not Roxette! RIP. I loved her and them when I was little.

 

I'll always appreciate Grand Theft Auto for bringing this back and immortalizing them to new kids.

Sad news indeed.  But she put up a good fight...17 years!  Gonna go play "It Must've Been Love" now.
